No Anthro Zone Review - Starring the Ruffled Cincher

Once in a Lifetime...

I finally managed to do the impossible.  Everyone else makes it look so simple.  I have always said it would never work for me.  Sceptical is my middle name.  Now I can happily eat my words. And who knows if it will ever happen again.  But at least I can say "I Belted a Cardi once in my Lifetime Without Looking Ridiculous."

Make-up and Hair left me out in the cold for this Once in a Lifetime.

Looks like they skipped me over and did a fabulous job on the Anthro Model.

Review...

The Ruffled Cincher - Brown - Anthro $48, sale $34 - Sept 2010

See Mandy of Adoring Anthropologie review it here.
Shop the Ruffled Cincher Belt in Brown and Grey here.

The real star of the show in the Ruffled Cincher Belt.  Last week I stumbled upon about a dozen sale belts that didn't appear in the Accessories Sale Section.  Looks like someone made a boo-boo. I managed to grab one before they were returned to their original price.

I purchased the Belt in Size Small.  I am on the farthest out hole.  Probably could have went with the Medium.  The elastic panel in the back is ugly in my opinion.  It's also not very stretchy, so the belt feels a little tight.  But it's not uncomfortable, since the leather is very soft and supple. It's a very odd color Dark Brown with Gray tint.  I prefer more Golden Browns.

Co starring with the Ruffled Cincher Belt, is the Beautiful Turquoise Abuzz Cardi by Moth and the Fabulous Lynz and Leo Dress by Maeve.

Hope you enjoyed another No Anthro Zone Review by Anthro Closet Chaos's Geo In California.

It looks like you pulled the look off! However, I'm kind of with you in thinking I couldn't pull it off either. In all honesty, I'm not sure I'd even want to pull off. It is one look I just don't get no matter what the person is wearing. I think a lot of times it just cuts the person in half and isn't very flattering no matter what size or shape of the person.

I've had a hard time belting over cardis too. I think i've done it successfully once. But I think you did a great job here.

Nice score on the belt on accidental sale btw! And I'm so sorry to hear that they're out of camel in the cream confection jacket on the website! I do think the cream colored one will look lovely though, and you probably won't have my tendencies of being a dirt magnet. :)

Joy2theWorld,

I have always thought that the belt cuts the person in half. At least it does me, most of the time. And the Anthro model looks awkward in my opinion. So I was surprised to find that I liked this outfit on me. Infact, I like the thinner belt in my version, more than the wider belt on the Anthro model. But where the heck would I ever wear it.

Lori,

Thanks for the thumbs up. This is my 3rd belt used in over 40 posts. I am belt shy. I wore them a few years ago with low waisted pants. My pants would fall down without them.

This looks fabulous on you, Laura. I know it feels unusual, but I think it is really very flattering. I wear belts to work frequently, as you know. I guess I feel as though it puts the finishing touch on my outfit.

In case you decide that you'd like to track down the Cream Confection Jacket, I saw it in a 4 in the camel color at the New Brunswick, NJ store on Thursday evening. It might still be there -- I believe the store number is (732) 565-9870. The jacket fit me perfectly in a 4, so I think it would work for you as well. I snapped a few pictures of how the 4 fit -- let me know if you'd like me to send them to you -- more than happy to do so!

It looks great on you. I'm a fan of belted cardi's these days. Definitely steps up an outfit tremendously!

Yes, as Jamie mentioned, the No. Brunswick,NJ store had a fully stocked selection of the Cream Confection jacket in both brown and black on Friday night. I bought it in a size 8 as for blouses I am a 6 normally and size 8 in coats unless they run big. Only comment I might make is that if you are busty, you may need to go up a size. I noticed there is only a slight different in the shoulders and back between the sizes depending on what you want to wear under them.

Jamie,

Belts are in my future, but only in a limited way. You do have a way with them.

I have 2 outstanding Anthro returns I am waiting for. Once I receive credit, then I can purchase the Cream Confection Coat. If the Camel is sold out, hopefully I can get one in the Cream.

Please do send me the images of you in the coat. Those are always very helpful.

Collette,

Love your Blog. Especially the polka dot dress done vintage. I plan on sending my posts for your Saturday Re-Style Series.

Bronzi,

I have to say, that I couldn't make the outfit choices myself and make the belted cardi work. I had to use Anthro's Outfit.

Waiting on 2 Anthro Credits before ordering the Cream Confection Coat. I am hoping there will still be a 4 in Camel available. If not I will call CS and have them search for me. But it's going to be at least 2 weeks.
