Days Of, High Gloss, Pinwheels, and Painful Injections!

Of Painful Injections...

About a year ago, I was diagnosed with 50% collapse of the Carpel Tunnel in my Right Hand. Since then, I learned to mouse with my left.  If you have ever tried to to do this, you know that you take a big hit on accuracy. It appears I have been over correcting for my lack of accuracy by squeezing the mouse with my Left Thumb. I have now developed Trigger Thumb.  A painful locking of the thumb in a bent position.  My Kaiser Dr. recommended a steroid injection.

Both the Dr and Nurse claimed the injection really wasn't that bad. I had heard a different story. I should have immediately got a clue when the Nurse set out one of those little ampules they break under your nose when you pass out.

OMG!  Ladies!  The pain level rates just above child birth.  Although not as long a period of time. The Dr. did later mention that this was the most painful area to have this injection. At least during labor you get a breather every few minutes.  The initial pain was bad enough. But then he began pressing the fluid onto the tube where the tendon passes through.  Every person on the first floor, maybe the second, heard me yelp.  And yes an audible curse emanated from my mouth.  He may as well have held my hand over an open flame for 20 minutes.  I had to use Lamaze breathing techniques to keep from passing out. I didn't move a muscle. No way was I going to ever repeat that procedure.  If only I had brought someone with me.  I could have had Valium.

I must continue to keep my thumb immobile for 2 more weeks, as I have been for the last month.  Hopefully by then I will be able to freely bend my thumb.  I have only a 50/50 shot.  Not very good odds in my opinion.  In the mean time I am ambidextrous.

Of Days Off...

No vacation for me.  Just a 2-day weekend.  I'm actually referring to Anthro's  Days Off Skirt by Hei Hei. I initially ordered the Moss Green version in a 4. It was a bit snug.  Naturally the Moss in size 6 was sold out by the time I got my skirt by snail mail. So I re-ordered the Navy in a 6.  It's just a tad loose.  Hence the slight pooch in front.  The six is back in Stock, but I like the Navy better.

As for the Mitered and Metered Top. It has wonderful stretch, but is much too thin.  I had to layer a Cami under or suffer embarrassing Head Lights.  My Beaded Shoulder Cotton Cardi is one of a few I picked up from The Gap online for a song.

Of Glossy Belts...

I was seriously in need of narrow colorful belts.  So I sprung for Anthro's High Gloss Belt in both Green and Yellow at full price. Think about it.  How much do you save by waiting for these belt to go on sale?  Anthro will probably only mark them down $8.  However, waiting for a $128 dress to hit sale would save you $60.  You may as well buy lower priced items full price to ensure you get the color and size you want.  BTW!  I'm wearing a small below my natural waist.  At my waist I am on the tightest hole.  So be prepared to punch holes.  The belts run large.  I love the little Tortoise Shell Buckle.

Of Pinwheels...

Oddly enough, it was all Anthro could do to get rid of the Pinwheels Petals Double Strand.  I grabbed the Yellow/Navy Version at Full Price.  They also had an Orange/Pink version. Wish I had it too.

The Rest of the Story...

I purchased the Dotty Cluster Tights to wear with the Babergh Dress. I've actually worn these tights with just about everything in my closet.  So versatile. Another Full Price item that sold out.  Never making it to sale.

I needed a big Orla to drag all my photo taking paraphernalia out to the park at sun up.  The Shiny Leather Caraway Bag was a perfect selection.  Except I managed to arrive at a great location and perfect light with no Tripod mount for my camera and my Scan Disk not in tow.  So I had to run back and grab the Scan Disk and use my mini 4 inch bendy tripod.  Thank goodness trash cans are the perfect level for the mini tripod.  The Post was saved by Heidi's generosity.  She gave me this tripod many months ago.

Last but not least, are the Bobbi Blu Roadways.  The very first pair of shoes I saw on Anthro that I had to have. This was 3 years ago ladies. I had just discovered Anthro at Las Vegas, Cesar's Palace. Anthro online was out of my size.  I found them at Zappos for less.  Including Free Ship.  I happily bought them and saved about $15.

See Carly of Strawberry Heels Forever wearing Bobbi Blu Shoes.

It's Open Blog Friday!  What's on your mind today?  Any plans for the weekend!  I have something exciting planned for the coming Memorial Day Weekend. Very Anthro related.  But for now it's hush, hush.

Oooh, that injection sounds just AWFUL!! So sorry you had to go through that, but at least it's over.

I'm loving that top on you. It never jumped out at me online, but it looks fabulous with your shape and coloring! The yellow belt looks like an extra stripe! Very well done.

Thanks JG. I really didn't even plan this one. It just jumped out at me this morning. Surprised me. Usually I have to work through an outfit like this. Pink, Lavender, Yellow and Navy combines well together.

So sorry you had to have such a painful injection! And isn't the steroid shot only temporary relief? I have a friend with knee issues and she has to keep going back for steroid shots. I'm surprised my right hand hasn't given out from too much mouse-clicking. I've spent so many hours formatting Excel spreadsheets--luckily the latest version has some added capabilities so my formatting is a little easier. Is there any way to relieve the mouse-induced stress on your left hand? Different kind of mouse? Do they even make such things?

I love your outfit! So bright and cheery!

The joy stick also requires dragging to use. That particular repedative motions is what ruined my wrist. The roller ball caused cramps is my palm and fingers. The Vertical even worse. Then I had this long set-up with scrolling bar. Worked for awhile. Then that one gave me issues. Switching back and forth seems not so bad.

Yes I might have to have more injections. All the more reason to learn not to grip the mouse now.

Poor you! That injection sounds paaaaainful, to say the least! I hope it'll work!

And cute outfit, by the way!

I can already tell that it has. The temptation to bend my thumb is insane. So I'm keeping it wrapped up tight.

That's great! Resist the temptation!
Ouch, that sounds so super painful. So strong of you to be able to take it like a lady (although I'd love to know what word it was that squeaked out LOL). I am praying that you get relief from the pain. Frequent computer use can lead to so many things. It's scary.

But, your outfit is awesome and isn't that really all that matters? :) j/k of course.

I fell sorry for those younger than I. I didnt start using a computer regularly until I was 30. That is only 20 years of damage. I can't imagine 30 or even 40 years of constant mousing. Not to mention testing like I am now. Haha!

I adore this outfit on you! The color of the Orla bag is just gorgeous and compliments your outfit so well. Thanks for the info on the sizing of the belt-I may pick up the pink one.

I really hope the injection helps, especially after what you had to go through.

Honestly Loraine! I already feel the difference. No pain at all. But still keeping my thumb taped so I don't risk accidentally bumping or bending it.

ouch!! You just reminded me of my labor..lol omg, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. :( I hope it's gonna be okay. 50% is big!!

Those tights are adorable! And I agree with "waiting for a $128 dress to hit sale would save you $60. You may as well buy lower priced items full price to ensure you get the color and size you want."
that's so true!

The next day after the Steroid injection by thumb didn't hurt at all. I kept thinking I could bend it. But now today it's hurting again. Drats!

Ouch! Sorry to hear it was so painful. It sounds terrible. Here's hoping you get a lot of relief from the injection.

Great outfit! Love the bag.

Kristin, I do believe it's working. No pain since the day after the injection. I'm just worried that it will only be temporary.
From my Yahoo Mail - Laura
Om my gosh! You poor poor dear, that sounds horrible- both the painful shot and not being able to move your thumb for two weeks!

Well, at least you haven't lost your flare for fashion, even after enduring such a painful experience. Hope your in the 50 percent that gets your thumb working again :)
That stripe shirt with the necklace look fabulous!
yee-ouch Laura. I read your account of the pain from the procedure and felt "ouchy" all over. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Here i am thinking my wisdom teeth removal was bad. (Oh btw..i'm still numb around my chin area).
I love glossy patent belts in bright colours too! they instantly brighten up an outfit with little effort. I would love a yellow one like yours!

That injection was awful Jen. But after oral surgery, the pain can go on for days. At least mine was over within the hour. I love the shiny patent skinny belts. Now I need Red and several shades of Blue.
I never yelled or cried out during labor. Maybe while giving birth. But only because I was pushing, out of breath, and tired. It was all I could do to keep from screaming my head off while he was squeezing my thumb. Of course it was a very different kind of pain. And the hand has the most nerves endings of any other part of your body.
Oh Laura :( Your poor hands! I hope it all works out and gets better! You look adorable in that outfit though :)

Not many plans this weekend, my friend moved at the start of the month and had a dinner party to celebrate at her new place, so that was fun. Worked one day, ran errands today. Making a yummy dinner though, so that will be great :) Taiwanese beef noodle soup, maybe with some dumplings too? Can't wait to see what your surprise is!

I am so excited about the surprise. But it's 6 weeks away. So I would think about it, I concentrated on finding a pair of Red Sandals this weekend. I've sent 2 pairs back in the last few weeks.

I think I accomplished my task. Please let them fit.

Oh those are gorgeous! I hope they work out then lol. Chie mihara shoes are so gorgeous (mostly)
I agree! Some are definitely not my taste. I couldn't believe the expensive couture fashion on the site where I found them. Farfetch.com. Those shoes are the only item on the site that caught my attention.

Ooh, I hope your thumb gets better really soon. That shot sounds painful! They really should have given you a heads up! You look so cute in yellow.
My husband and I were sitting watching a concert last weekend close to where you are photographing. Nobody had a big, cute purse like that, just coolers of BYOB.
Can't wait to see your surprise :)

There is Orange netting crossing the sidewalk entrances around the Ampitheater still. I assume there was another concert this weekend too. What did you think of the wacky humidity this morning? And the cloudcover that had thankfully gone away. I dread the Bakersfield heat.

Ahh man, I wish I could've been there to drive you so you could get the dang injection. Sounds like a PAR-TAY in the doc's office. Geesh, I would've decked him! way to use restraint with a mere obscenity. Wishing your thumb a quick recovery!
I love my metered and mitered tee, and don't have the headlight problem since my twin peaks aren't that...ahem....lofty. I love the combo with the bam-pow-wow of the purple Orla! You're making all my yellow and purple dreams come true! Nice styling!
1 reply · active 728 weeks ago
I shamelessly thought of you as I was working in the bam-pow-wow. You never cease to amaze and inspire me Molly dear.

I was trying so hard not to move for that darn injection. It was Torture with a blow torch to my thumb.
