Great email! I really look forward to seeing what anthro does about this. You make a VERY convincing argument for foul play.
I agree with JG Laura, I think your letter is a fantastic way to bring this to their attention. Thank you so much for pointing this out to everyone!
Someone should point out, too, *why* someone would do this -- like, maybe, they wanted this dress to go on sale ...

I did point that out in a comment for my last post. I think that would be the most likely reason.

I think it is impossible to determine someone's intentions. It is possible the second reviewer was influenced by the first reviewer. This is likely. I think it is also likely they are trying to get the dress to go on sale. They have not been very successful as the dress seems to be selling out. I am often surprised by people's love or lack of love for an item that looked terrible or fantastic on me. Everyone has different bodies and tastes. Fashion is somewhat subjective (although I think good taste, while there can be different styles, is simply good taste), and not going to be perceived the same for everyone.

Perhaps the take away message here, is to not rely too much on what others say or think and be confident in what we like and who we are.

I don't pay attention to how someone feels. I don't really care what others like. At my age I know who I am and what I like. Reviews are not meant for such info. I already know I'm interested if I am checking them.

I simply want facts. Particularly the fit. If there are special issues involved. Will the fabric stretch.Possible Quality or construction problems. Info that any online shopper needs when they can't try an item on before purchasing.

I don't care why the dress was sabotaged. And you can't ignore the fact that the vote ratio is skewed. I just want Anthro to check the security and integrity of the system and make necessary changes.

Like they did in the past when reviewers could vote for themselves as often as they liked. Anthro added an IP Address Block.

You also can't expect people to not be influenced by what others say. Or wear. Style is certainly about influence.

I was quite surprised about the first two reviews as well- the dress seemed to get isntant love from the online community. Living in an `no-anthro zone` myself, I do rely heavily on reviews I read. Although I do partially agree with Missy that sometimes a person`s intentions can be hard (i don`t believe impossible) to determine, I am glad you raised your concerns about this issue. It is the highly skewed vote ratio that really does it for me. If the vote ratio seemed more `normal` (for lack of a better word) I would take those two reviews as the reviewer`s actual, honest review. I am very curious to see what Anthropologie will do about this.
Anthro really can't do anything about it. They basically told me what I told them. It's an open forum. The reviews were not inappropriate. I will post the response ASAP.

Continue to go back and vote helpful for all new reviews. I noticed yesterday that a few 2 stars appeared. Again, by first time reviewers. Although most of the 5 star reviews were too. Go figure!

Great job, Laura!! I appreciate you pointing this out... as a fellow Anthro obsessed woman who lives nowhere near an actual Anthro store, I rely on those reviews and I never once thought to question the intent behind some of them. I'm so glad that you did and brought it to our attention. Thank you!!

Well, I tried. Even though I didn't expect much.

I'll post the response ASAP.

Wow. No offense, but I read your blog on the reg and this is enough to make me stop. This is ridiculous. You really e-mailed Anthro about this and expected them to care?

I wouldn't expect everyone to approve of everything I say or do. I don't understand why you would be offended by an inquiry I personally made about an issue I have interest in. But that is the nature of Blogs.

If you read the comments pertaining to this post and the prior post you will find I was not the only gal to flag this as fishy.

Really, who are you to suggest what I choose to blog about.

Let's not get tangled up in what is note worth and what isn't.
