Welcome to Mompos Monday!  You can bet I will be wearing Anthro's Mompos Dress until you Gals yell Uncle.  If you get sick of seeing me in it, just say the magic word.  I originally wasn't planning to wear the Mompos today.  BTW, Mompos is in the country of Colombia.  Spelled with two O's.  You had to be there. It was a misunderstanding that was respectfully cleared up.

The Pigment and Canvas Dress by Nathalie Lete was laid out and ready to go.  When I put it on, I couldn't zip it up. It seems half the Dresses in my Closet are either too large, or too small.  What's a girl to do, but buy more.  I can't decide if I should sell a few to make closet space for new dresses, or keep them since my weight is fluctuating.  A couple of these dresses would be difficult to part with.  For example: Anthro's Sweet Tangelo Dress, and the Unfurling Fronds Dress, both by Leifsdottir are too big.  Then there is my Babergh Dress, now too small. Sniff!

I sprang for Anthro's Anadyomene Cardi, in Ivory by Rosie Neira, at full price. Venus Anadyomene "Venus Rising From the Sea" was one of the iconic representations of Aphrodite.  The color, length, and simple but interesting detailing will make this piece versatile.  That alone justifies the purchase. I meant to take a photo of the shoulder.  The neckline detail extends over the right shoulder, but not the left.  Initially I thought the extended piece looked out of place, and I had received a defective Cardi. The online Product Photo proved otherwise. I have since grown to like the unique bit of stray interest that extends a few inches down the back.  The knit is soft and has stretch. I sized up from my normal size Small to a Medium. Snaps were included between the top buttons to prevent gap.

I belted over the Cardi with J Crew's Factory Leather Belt in Orchid Shadow. I thought about using a Yellow belt.  But that would have added to the already Yellow Matchy-ness of the outfit.

I fell head over wedges in love when I saw these on Zappos.

Dierdre X-Stitch by Frye - at Zappos - $158

I ordered them right away.  I've returned 2 pairs of Navy shoes this month. These were too narrow for the wide front of my foot.  Perfect everywhere else. My quest continues.

Bejeweled Bee Ring - by Kenneth Lane - Anthro Orig $105 Sale $70 - July 2009

And now for even more Matchy Match. The Bejeweled Bee Ring by Kenneth Lane.  I think my Bee Ring wants to meet Kristin's Bee Pin on Lovely Apidea.

To distract from my Matchy Match, I went with Anthro's Semaphores Necklace by Cursive.  A cute, cheap, but interesting little thing, that shines with unique Anthro-osity.

I received a scolding and a threat to stop reading, from a Regular Reader. All that for making a choice I consider my prerogative. This was in reference to my email to Anthro regarding skewed review votes. Oddly enough this was the first comment this Reader ever made on my blog. Why is it she felt now was the time to be negative, when not once in the past did she ever offer a positive comment?  Where has human decency gone?

I know this isn't common standard among the Anthro Community. I certainly would not choose to blog if it were. As a Blogger and a Reader I appreciate the helpful reviews and information I am privy to.  Thank You's are fantastic, but I don't expect them. However I do expect consideration for my personal choices, as much as I consider others. Debating those choices is always open for discussion in a friendly and respectful manner.

I got your back!
And that's the Bees Knees!

Happy Mompos Monday to all my Lovely Readers.  Don't be strangers. Your point of view is appreciated. Please feel free to comment with Anthro Sister Love and Respect, Laura (lauramartinsemail@yahoo.com)

I love the Mompos! I cant wait until our store gets it in stock.

What? No Mompos in your store. That must be seriously making you crazy. So can you request your store to call you when it arrives? I would love to know all the secret inner workings of Anthro stores. On the fat chance one should come to Bakersfield.

Sent from Laura's iPhone
I haven't seen the Mompos anywhere in Massachusetts either, but perhaps they sold out before I got to the stores that I frequent. :(
Take a walk on the wild side Leah. Order from online!

Have you asked an SA in a store? Would they know if the dress is expected?

Laura
That would be a little ott if the store started calling me for new arrivals(and dangerous for the wallet) I called cs
and they told me it wasnt in yet. But it is still cold up here in MA so i will wait;)
I remember a comment, but I don't remember where or who, that suggested if you went to the store and inquired about an item and the size you needed they would call you when it was in stock.

There sure are a lot of them in stock online. But I understand that you would rather wait to purchase it in the store and save the shipping fees.

You mompos dress girls are killing me - especially because you all look so fantastic in them! I love the pairing with the white, and the hints of yellow are a nice spring-y touch.

As for neg comments from a reader - I haven't read the comment, but I think it is everyone's perogative to have their own opinions and we all don't expect to agree on everything. However I never see the point to be negative for the sake of being mean - just like you mentioned, Laura, if we don't agree, why don't we discuss it instead of trying to shut each other down?

Ahh Laura! I adore this Matchy-Matchy Mompos look! Beautiful and fresh! I hope you wear it often because it's a stunner on you, and I'd love to see how you stye it multiple times! Yellow and white? Very crisp! And that bee ring? Adorable! The Mompos is just a gorgeous dress no matter how ya look at it ... and ya know, I have that fluctuating weight problem too! Bah! :P

So sorry you had a negative comment that was unsavory and unprecedented - I always worry about those! :( You do such a great job, Laura, and I enjoy your blog so so much, and it's always such a pleasure to read! Your reviews are always amazing and are truly a help for those of us with no Anthro around! ;)

Thank you Mandy! I'm always fearful to bring this stuff up. I hope mentioning the obvious makes a difference.

Your outfit looks great as usual! So springy!

Don't worry about the negative comments. You did nothing to harm or insult anyone. It seems like there's a conspiracy to gang up on Anthro blogs lately. I don't understand people making a big deal over something that's not--it's the freaking internet! It's a blog where you could post a pic of your butt everyday if you wanted! Then they would have reason to complain, but seriously? I don't get it. How petty and of course they're too chicken to post their name. I have never understood people who choose to be mean just for the sake of it--I've had to deal with enough of those people in my life, and you know what, they'll get theirs because that behavior is a personality flaw that they impose on everyone around them and it will come back to bite them in the butt.

Whoohoo! So true Terrie!

I've never discussed my expectations when it comes to discussion or even a difference of opinion. It was time!

*sigh* I'm loving all the Mompos outfits from you and Kim. it's so adorable! wish I could afford it *no it's not envy talking right now* lol!
and OMG i LOVE that bee ring. I must find something similar to that one now :)

alsoooo if you happen to decide to sell your Unfurling Fronds dress..umm I would love to pounce on it hehe. I know how you feel though with weight fluctuations..it's a constant battle with me! one week my Bold Boutonniere dress fits and the next week it gets tightttt haha

I also want to echo Mandy, I really enjoy your blog and it seems like you have a great, fun personality and it really shows through your blog

I think my unfurling Fronds is an 8. Could be a six. It look about one size two big for me. This is a bit morose. But I've worn it to two funerals. My Mother in Law and my Sister in Law. It's my funeral dress.

I normally keep it light and fun. But when I'm serious about something I don't soft shoe.

I love your bee ring, Laura!!! You are right, it's such a great match for my bee pin. It is also the perfect accessory for this beautiful outfit. The dress looks amazing on you and I love the yellow paired with the pale blue.

I say hang on to all of those dresses! We all have ups and downs (weight/body wise), so maybe they will come in handy one day.

As for the negative comment - forget about it. It's not worth your time or worry. There are too many positive comments to focus on:)
1 reply · active less than 1 minute ago
I'm not sure I can ignore the negative, anymore than I would the positive.

I definitely plan to keep those dresses that are just to hard to part with. Last year I let a lot of stuff go. I don't miss any of it.

You look darling in the Mompos! Great with the yellow. what a cute bee ring! Wow, I can't believe you got reprimanded on your own blog! haha. Oh well, just let it roll off and keep up your great work and contribution to the Anthro blogging community!

Thanks Peg! That's my ever continuing quest. Stay focused, and continue doing what makes me happy. And if I feel the need to send an email to Anthro I will. But no more sharing!

Sorry to hear about that comment...but I can honestly say you always come across as so kind and genuine! I really like your outfit too!

I speak my mind though. But not in a condescending manner or even a negative tone.

I'm sure I can do better with this dress. I was in a hurry when I realized my Natalie Lete no longer fit me! I actually saw a Size 6 on EA this morning. I wonder why I didn't jump on it for $50. I must be crazy.

Laura, i think you Kim and must have read each others minds on thevweekend...we all wore our mompos! Idlove to try pairing mine with yellow. I love how you are wearing yours with the cardi belted over. Sorry about your negative comment. I think I've receieved about 15 unsavory comments since starting my blog. I' ve come to accept that there are some people out there who like to make other people' s lives a misery. It's ok to criticize but to threat and scold is just not on. If it persists, remember that you can take it to the authorities.

I saw Kim in Yellow for her friends Shower. I almost wore the Mompis with my Gold Whirl and Wind. But went with the white Cardi and hints of Yellow instead.

What a great outfit Laura. I'm loving that bee ring. Adorable! And the cardi, well I'm biased as I also purchased it at full price in the turquoise color. It's such an awesome piece. :)

Keep doing what you do, I like it.
1 reply · active 728 weeks ago
Thank you for the blog love Katrina. I thought the price was reasonable for a Rosie Neira. I definitely would have went for the TURQ if I didn't already have too many TURQ Cardi's.
From my Yahoo Mail - Laura
The bee ring should have been sold with the Mompos for sure. A perfect pair! I dig the lavender belt with the soft blue too. Unexpected, yet so lovely! For sure keep the dresses. You'll get back into them, and the ones that are too big can be altered. I swear you'd regret it.
As for the negative comment you received.... some people are just...small. They've got issues. They take out their real-life crap on innocents around them, like you. A "threat" to stop reading? C'mon! How old are we? Keep speaking your mind, because you do it well, with class, and conviction.

Thanks Molly. It means so much to me to hear that coming from you. You would think most people, especially women, would know that if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

My Mother once told me I should have been a sales person or a lawyer. But nooooo...I studied Rocks! From my Yahoo Mail - Laura
What fun and cheerful look! I wasn't sure how I felt about the Mompos dress, but after seeing you in it, I have decided that I like it! I really like your bee ring! It was instant grabby hands the first time I saw it! I've been trying to collect creature jewelry which I think should include a KJL bee ring :)
1 reply · active 728 weeks ago
I left a Net-A-Porter link for the KLJ Bee Ring. Did you order it? It's funny because the last time I wore the ring it was available at Macy's. I do so love your paved Anthro Lady Bugs. Are they heavy? I have the paved Star Fish and the Parrots. My ears get sore from wearing them all day.

You would look fantastic in the Mompos. A wider belt would really show off your waistline. And that Cornflower Blue! I can't wait to wear it again. Next time I'm going for Mustard Yellow.
From my Yahoo Mail - Laura
Hi Laura, hopefully this will get through after the issue last week - I did see your email over the weekend but I was away, this is the first time I've had to catch up on all the blog posts. Mompos ahoy! I go away for 3 days and you, Jen and Kim all offered wonderful Mompos ensembles. I simply adore the bumblebee ring, so so cute!

Hi Louise, It appears the ID commenting issue was temporary.

Everyone is loving my Little Bee today. I've worn it on the blog, but it's been awhile. The Mompos is a huge Anthro hit.

Laura, I might just have to take a trip to Bakersfield just so I can borrow all the wonderful items I see in this post. The Mompos dress is divine, with all those intricate details. I want, I want! But I am avoiding even going into an Anthro, for fear of what will happen to my willpower if I see such a pretty dress in person. And how would you have know that I had been scouring Ebay and Etsy for bee-themed jewelry. This ring is perfect! Although I am hoping for a necklace or brooch (this is what I will tell myself to stop trigger finger). And the shape of the neckline on your cardigan works so perfectly for the dress -- lets all the fabulous Mompos fabric take center stage. And of course, pears are among my favorite fruits, so you know how I feel about your OK tote...

I hope your finger is feeling better? I have never experienced childbirth, so I can only imagine how painful it must have been. But I was cringing just reading about the procedure!

Avoiding Anthro! I could never do it. I would be in more serious trouble than I already am. I am dying to get my hands on the Tippi Dress too.

I that KLJ Bee Ring every time I wear it. Last time it was at Macy's. Now Net-A-Porter. Seriously get the ring Jamie. It's very good quality. The band has an inside spring for adjustment. I normally can't wear big rings. This one is very wearable. Although I do take it off when I wash up.

I do have a bee necklace on Leather with Citrine and a tiny bee charm. I will email the name of the Etsy shop if I can find it.

Hi Laura,

I'm a longtime reader but have never commented. You look absolutely lovely in the Mompos! I The yellow accents really pop. I admire how you incorporate color into your wardrobe....I've saved so many of your outfits in my "wardrobe inspiration" folder :)

Have you received the drifting lilies dress? Can't wait to see your review :)
1 reply · active less than 1 minute ago
Oh dear! The drifting lilies arrived last night. Funny I never looked at the Back Product Shot. It's a Halter. I tried it on, but not impressed first run. It's too short in places since it's a scarf hem. The bodice is elastic and stayed up fine. But I couldn't get it adjusted right so that the waistline looked even all the way around even with a belt. The halter part is separate but connected at the elastic waistband. The fabric is thin for the halter part and cut into my neck when tied. This is TTS.

I'm on jury duty right now. I will try to get photos tonight and get a review up tomorrow.

I know this dress isn't sold out. Even if it does sell out, in my opinion there will be many pop backs. Get it into your Wish List if you havent already. I think it will get a second cut eventually. Maybe not right away. You will have to stalk it in your List for pop backs and keep an eye out for cuts on sale mornings.
