Lolland Copy Cat! An Anthropologie Product Page Switcharoo!

Do you remember the October 2009 Anthropologie Catalog photo of the model wearing this dress?

Lolland Sweater Dress - by Moth - Anthro Orig $188, eBay $180 - May 2010

Let me refresh your memory...

Anthropologie Catalog - October 2009

I ordered the dress in mid November.  I asked the Customer Service Rep for the bust measurements.  The Small was 32, Med 34, and Large 36.  When I inquired if the material had stretch, I was told no. Since I am a 35 I ordered the dress in Large.  Big mistake.  It looked like a sack on me, so I returned it and didn't re-order the dress.

In May 2010 I found the Lolland Sweater Dress in Small on eBay.  Marked up quit a bit from the Sale price.  But I would not have been able to get a Small on sale anyway except through a store search.

Heidi looked so cute in hers, I couldn't resist.  Heidi strikes again!  And the dress in Small fit very good.  I was in love again.

Can you believe this dress has FOUR pockets?

Can you spot the differences between my outfit and the outfit the model is wearing?

Merry Days Necklace - by Tataborello - Oct 2009

The model is wearing the Merry Days Necklace by Tataborello.  Heidi has this necklace.

Ribbon Rays Necklace - by Tataborello -Anthro Orig $258, Sale $129 - Mar 2010

I am wearing the Ribbon Rays Necklace by Tataborello.  I purchased this piece before I purchased the eBay dress.  At the time I didn't know the Merry Days Necklace was Tataborello.  It wasn't until I asked Heidi to check the necklace that I found it was.  Sweet success!

Sweater Cuffed Booties - by Schuler and Sons - Oct 2009
The model is wearing the Sweater Cuffed Booties by Schuler and Sons.

Times Three Booties - by Schuler and Sons - Anthro Orig $198, Sale $100
Nov 2010
I am wearing the Three Times Booties by Schuler and Sons. More Sweet Success!

I have been waiting for these booties to go on sale.  They were showing sale in my Wish List but were no longer in the regular shoe section, or the sale section.  I ordered them.  Out of curiosity I checked the September 2010 Catalog. Imagine my surprise when I clicked on the Three Times Booties to find the Product Page for the Fall Frolic Booties.  Huh!  So I clicked on the Fall Frolic Booties right next to the Three Times Booties.

These booties are running out fast.  If you wanted them, but don't have them Wish Listed you can find them on Page 32 of the September 2010 Catalog.   But remember to click on the Fall Frolic Booties.

What do you think of this latest tricky little switcharoo by Anthropologie?  Why hide inventory like this?

I believe it was done intentionally.

The Lolland is one of my very very favorite Anthropologie dresses! I waited for a sale on it and almost died of stress trying to find it in a small (which fits me, even though I have a 39" bust -- shame on Anthro CS for telling you it had no stretch!), but find it I eventually did. You copied the catalog styling well and look very cute! In fact I kind of love the necklace you are wearing much more than the original :)

Hi Laura! I love how you are mimicking the pictures, very cute. Oh I think you have all the things that got away from me lol. That dress looks so cute and comfy. I was just discovering Anthropologie when that dress sold out online :) Your outfit looks great.

OMG, you're so cute! The dress is really cute. You are starting to convince me I should invest in a pair of booties! They looks so good!

About hiding inventory: I noticed there was no product page for a long while on the Parted Curtain Collar (necklace), even though there were about twenty left in stock. (As in, the necklace still showed up on my wishlist and I could still add it to my bag to check inventory.) I thought that was weird, but I didn't want to pay $100 so I waited. Then it suddenly went on sale and had a page--until it quickly sold out. I don't understand Anthro's ways, but I'll bet you're right that it's intentional. Maybe it has something to do with low inventory?

Anjali, To say that I love this dress just isn't enough. And the outfit has been a year in the making.

Jess, This would be the perfect dress for you. I see them on eBay now and then.

Kay, 2010 has been the year of Boots and Booties for me. It started with a pair of Orange Booties from Anthro.

Beth, Wow! I didn't even know there was a way to check inventory other than calling in the order. Cool! Thank you for the tip.

Lori, I was thinking of you and your passion for dreases with pockets as I wrote that statement. All 4 pockets ate on front where the 4 wooden buttons are located.

What a great copycat look. I actually prefer your booties over the Sweater-Cuffed Version. And you have a great eye for picking out similar items!

The Lolland dress looks oh-so-adorable on you Laura! The pockets make it practical too :-) glad you scooped it up on ebay.
I haven't noticed Anthro hiding inventory. I'm not sure whether it is intentional. The only thing i've noticed is that some items that have been marked down aren't actually in the sale section - i find that odd and intentional!

Nina, Gotta love the booties.

Jamie, I picked out similar items before I knew I would need them.

Jen, Like my booties. Went on sale, but were never in the sale section from day one.
