The Tippi Borrows from The Mompos!

Greetings!  I lined up another successful Tippi Match over the weekend, with the help of LC of Bella Seattle.  LC discovered a lone Tippi Dress at a Seattle area Anthro. I checked my Tippi Matchmaker List and sure enough, Natalie was still looking for a Tippi.  After several phone calls, Natalie had no luck with an SA finding the Tippi.  Shortly after, LC informed me that the dress was on a rack by the door. Finally, Natalie got hold of a Sales Associate that went looking for a dress, that was now described to her, and on a rack by the door.  Success.  What made the deal sweeter was, she picked up her Tippi at the 25% Red Tag discount.

Search Tips:  If you are looking for a special item by phone, it helps to give as much information as possible, including a description of the item and the possible location in the store. Style numbers are usually necessary, but they won't find a dress that hasn't been entered in the stores inventory control system.  And be aware that SA's don't always know the online names.

Tippi Dress - by Anna Sui - Anthro Orig $268 Sale $140 - May 2011
Finest Hour Heels - by Miss Albright - Anthro Orig $158 Sale $80 Burlingame CA Peggy - May 2011
Butterfly Cuff - by Jessica Kagan Cushman - Max and Chloe $170 - March 2010
A few weeks ago I inquired about purchasing a Black Cardigan.  An overwhelming number of Ladies suggested J Crew's Jackie Cardigan.  I was hesitant. I find it difficult to spend $62 on a plain cardigan.

I am officially a J Crew Jackie convert.  This is a great sweater.  TTS.  No stretching after a long day. I couldn't be happier with this Cardigan.  True, I can't wear it outside in 110 degree F weather, but it's perfect for the ice box temps in the office.  So great in fact, I ordered another in Laquer Yellow.  I'm on the verge of a third very soon.

Finest Hour Heels - by Miss Albright - Anthro Orig $158 Sale $80 Burlingame CA Peggy - May 2011

My office has a long tile hallway that runs dead center down the middle.  There have times when I attempted to soundlessly tip-toe my way to the Powder Room. Yes ladies, I was wearing wooden clogs.  So you must imagine my happiness to discover how quiet the Finest Hour Heels are.  Now I can joyfully skip my way to the Potty with no embarrassing clang, clang.

My Clank-Proof Clogs are showing signs of love.........right up front.

Anthro has an almost exact pair of Miss Albright's, although much higher, on sale HERE.

I don't need to tell you how much I love this Dress.  Many Ladies had a desire for this dress that was strongly associated with Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds."  The last time I watched this rather disturbing Sci-Fi movie I was just a kid. I caught the tail end of the movie about a week after I received my Tippi.  It's still disturbing.

It almost seems silly to tell you this, because I've never felt anything like this from a piece of clothing.

The Tippi Dress mesmerizes me. I'm fascinated by the shadowed, scene that circles the skirt. The dress is Wispy, When a breeze catches the delicate Silk Skirt, it ripples like water.  I feel pretty just by wearing it.

Isn't that exactly what a dress should do?

Do you have a Dress that does something special like this for you?
Does it have a name?

and finally....

What did I borrow from the Mompos dress to wear with the Tippi?

Wow! Congrats on finding Tippi @ Nichole!
And Laura.. you are amazing! I've looked for some items before and calling stores for items is tiring..
I get nervous talking to a lot of people on the phone because I have accent... lol

anyways, you look lovely as usual. I was wearing the Finest Hour Heels today too!! hehe
I am going to post OOTD later!

We were Finest Hour Twins today!

Actually, Nicole made the phone calls. I don't have an accent Keiko, and I get nervous. Simply because... if I resort to calling stores, I really want to find something badly. My Apothecary Skirt was cancelled today, and I didn't even bother to call CS. I will probably be kicking myself later.

I will definitely look for your OOTD in the morning.

From my Yahoo Mail - Laura
I love the Jackie Cardigans. I'm seriously up to 4. Glad you got the yellow one! I love it and I'm sure you'll find plenty of cute uses for it! I think your tips for searching will be very helpful, thanks so much for sharing!

Is the Yellow Cardi you wore with the Brilliant Chaos Dress a Jackie? Because I didn't realize it at the time. I swear Stephanie, I'm not copying you! My current problem is...I want them all. This is all Kristen's fault of Lovely Apidea.

Hi Laura,

I don't know if anyone mentioned this to you when commenting on your earlier post, but Lands End Canvas cardigans are pretty great, and much cheaper than J Crew's. I find Lands End sizing to be too large, but the Canvas line works out pretty well. If you want to indulge in a sweater buy-a-thon, Canvas would make it more feasible. I've loved every cardigan I've gotten from them.

Thanks Beth! You are one of the most helpful Readers to me. The best thing you ever did was suggest EZ Sniper. So I definitely plan to check out the Lands End Cardi's. Not only that, Overcaffeinated has seconded you Lands End suggestion.

I spy with my little eye....a mompos belt! cute styling. :-)
I also love the jackie cardigan and I adore j crew shoes. The extra 30% off sale prices was too tempting for me to pass up this week.

Uh oh! I haven't tried J Crew shoes yet. I did try a dress. It was too large.

Very cute! I learned the hard way that SA don't know the names of items. I remember one time I asked them if they have the Snakebite Belt and they just looked at me funny. It was pretty embarrassing.
Laura, I HEART this post and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you in the Tippi Dress! You look so cute in it and it shows that you love it. BTW, how did you get the belt off the Mompos Dress? I am afraid to go at mine with a scissor.

Secondly, nearly ALL of my Anthro Dresses mesmerize and fascinate me (Maybe not so much the Height of Summer Dress. I didn't buy it because I loved it, I bought it because it met a wedding party qualification. It's cute, but it doesn't wow me). I often forget how much I absolutely adore them, until I put them on. Just the other day, I wore my Dagmar Shirtdress and I was thinking all night; "Whoa, this dress is totally amazing, why do I not wear this all the time!?". Anthro pieces are so charming and special. I also think the En Plein Air Dress is pretty special :)

I could go on for DAYS, but this isn't my blog. You may have just inspired a post :)
Because of the movie's theme this otherwise charming dress does have a sinisterness about it. It seems a lot darker than the minty green color conveys. That is why I love it so! You look so fantastic in this dress and I love that you paired the Mompos belt with it. Very smart choice! Also kudos to you for finding another Tippi match for a reader.
The Tippi dress is becoming more and more intriguing to me... although I'm probably way past the point where I could find it easily in the stores. So many bloggers like you and jesspgh look fabulous in your dresses, and have described how you love the way the dress *moves*.

Also, like Beth said, Lands End Canvas makes a similar cardi to the J.Crew jackie but at a better price point.

Let me know what size Tippi you need. Mine is TTS. Although some suggest sizing down. I dont. I will add you to the list. I also suggest you comment that you are looking for a Tippi on EA's In Store Community Post on Friday. And on Mondays Looking to Buy Post on EA.

I'm so addicted to the Jackie, but I am looking for other colors not available at the moment. So you bet I will check Lands End.

Gah I just love the Tippi on you, Laura ... you're giving me TONS of inspiration for how to wear mine this fall when it's cardigan/blazer weather!! :) Isn't the Tippi the best dress ever? So glad that you've been able to help find more ladies Tippis! Isn't that wonderful!! LC is the best!

LC is awesome. I didn't know you had a Tippi. We could have done Anthro Switcharoo on that. Ha-Ha! Why wait till Fall to wear your's?

Hey Laura,
Love your styling! :-) Also check out Nordstroms BP for their 3/4 length cardis. Just as soft as Jcrew and way way way cheaper and in a million colors!

And if any of your readers are looking for a size 12 Tippi, I saw one in the Beverly Hills location yesterday around 5:30p. It was in the sale room. :-)

I'm a total Jackie junkie. Welcome to the family. hehe. J.crew outlets have the jackies for way cheaper. I purchased several of mine there on sale for 24.99. NICE! My favorite dress that floats in the breeze and makes me feel so pretty? The Road Ahead dress, with the butterfly/meadow scene on the bottom. LOVE IT. You look amazing in the Tippi, and I'm happy to know your potty time is private.:)
Those shoes are adorable!
