I was a surprised at how small my Painted Orchid Belt from Anthro is. At first it appeared to be made for a child. It wasn't until then, that $50 on sale seemed like too much. But, when I tried it with the Reflecting Pools Dress, it was LOVE.
I might have an obsession with Moulinette Seours Silk Slip Dresses? First the Verdant Slip Dress. Then the Reflecting Pools Dress. And finally, last week the Sangatte Slip Dress on sale. If you placed a bet that I would buy a Fourth should it appear online, you would likely win.Stick By Me Lingerie Tape - Modcloth $8 - June 2011 |
I finally sprung for Tape to hold clothing to skin. Shop Stick By Me Lingerie Tape HERE. But before you do, consider this. If you are going to be outside in the heat don't bother. It won't stay stuck if you get wet or if you sweat. And if you have Hot Flashes, it doesn't work to well either. Ha-ha! It keeps the sides of my sweater stuck to my chest for about an hour. What is the point?

Why am I all smiles? There was a group of Moms and Kids (about a dozen) running a circut that included the Amphitheater stairs. I'm surprised I didn't catch any of them in action behind me. Naturally they were smiling and watching me as they ran. Who wouldn't stare at a crazy woman right smack dab in the middle of an Amphitheater, taking pictures of herself with a huge camera and tripod. I would stare too. They gave me good reason to smile back.

Does anyone else have the pleasure of a 4-day weekend over the holiday?
What are your plans for celebrating the 4th of July.
for my Canadian, Australian, and European Anthro Sisters, it's Summer!
What do you do on your Summer weekends?
Last Wednesday was an insane 113 degrees F in Good Ole Boy BTown.

Nice styling of the MS slip dress - looks fab with the belt even though it's sagging due to your employee badge. Hehe. And gosh how I would kill for those shoes!
I'm back in oz...things are pretty boring here in comparison :-) I experienced 115 degrees while in Vegas. Ouch!
GeoInCalifornia 99p · 718 weeks ago
I bet you are happy to be home boring or not. I'm not much for traveling, so home is never boring for me.
I recall sitting in a large stadium a few years ago waiting for 4th of July Fireworks. It was 115. Now, I know there are areas of OZ that can be very hot.
How hot are Australia's hot spots?

These lovely clogs sold out online before making sale. There were three pair on a shelf in Peggy's local store. She couldn't believe it that one pair was my size. I'm so grateful to her, because I certainly wear them alot.

What's a 9/80?
Fashion tape is like manna from heaven! I use them to keep some of my blouses from gaping. I don't have the tape, though. I may need to get that instead.

Anthro disguised the size of the Buckle. They coiled the belt in one product shot. They turned it around and hid the Buckle in the second. Normally they show the belt on a dress form. Why didn't I catch that?
I can see the Slip Dresses repeated every Summer for many years. I wouldn't complain.
9/80 schedule is 80 hours of work in 9 days.
Week #1: 4 X 9 hr/d plus 1 X 8 hr/d = 44 hrs
Week #2: 4 X 9 hr/d = 36 hrs Total 80 hours
Plus a 3-day weekend every other week. Like Tony the Tiger. It's Great!

I see. That sounds like the best 9 day cycle. We had something similar that was a trial. Our work week is 37.5 hours instead of 40, so we would work 30 minutes extra each day for any 15 days in a month, then we would get 1 day off. The remaining days were flex days, so if we needed a day to sleep in we could. There were a lot of restrictions on when we could take the day off, etc. I decided to stop after a few months because it was way too much control and too many rules to make it worth the hassle.

It's too bad your Co. didn't offer the 9/80. It allows an additional 24 extra days off a year. There are negatives. For example, you wouldn't think one less hour a day would impact your schedule. But it does. At first it takes some getting used to. Certain personnel need to be at work daily. Those departments were not given the option of the 9/80. Other departments will split the Friday off 50/50. You can opt out if you wish. I love it.

I have used Hollywood Fashion Tape and it works well here, but it did not hold up in Texas' gulf coast humidity! I do like that the Stick It To Me comes on a roll...might have to try that.

Every time I've worn these colors recently, I have received positive feedback. I'm beginning to see them in a new light. So I have been slowly adding them into my wardrobe.

I've used Hollywood tape and have mixed feelings. It keeps my clothes from gaping open and showing off my bra, but it also makes things hang in strange ways when you move. Fortunately my hot flashes are only in the middle of the night, so no need for taping my clothes on at that point! :-)
GeoInCalifornia 99p · 718 weeks ago
Consider yourself lucky. I get Hot Flashes about every 1/2 hour. 24 hours a day. I have a fan on my desk at work pointing at my face. Another on the night stand by the bed. The ceiling fan can't seem to do the job.
The tape does seem to cause Cardigans to hang in an odd way. Being Busty doesn't help the situation.

Have you tried to find the CLC skirt online? eBay? Shopstyle? The Find? Googled it?

On another note, I did buy the gilded catkins dress on ebay in an 8 (I'm a 4). Looks like it will be super easy for my tailor to take in the sides and make it fit perfectly. It was one I'd been stalking and finally gave up on ever seeing a 4 in.

And I'm so glad I unearthed another Kate Spade fan. I just took a look in your closet and saw the Micheline cardigan. I can't wait to see it in an OOTD. Perhaps with yellow? I recently added a not so thrifty KS item to my collection: the much-coveted Essex Scout bag. In pink! Very difficult to find and sold out everywhere, but Lord and Taylor had one left. And I had a 25% coupon. But I am forcing myself to wait to use it!
The 9/80 option sounds fantastic! It's not offered by my company, but I do have a relatively flexible schedule, which I appreciate. I tend to work 9:30-7:00ish on a daily basis (though I usually leave after 8:00 a few days a week. On these days, BF is irritated and refuses to take pictures for me). By staggering my arrival time and departure times to be after rush hour, I can cut down on my commute by a little bit. It's still a 2.5 hour commute round trip, BUT, I like where I live and where I work, so it is okay.
GeoInCalifornia 99p · 718 weeks ago
Where are the best online KS deals? And please let me know if you hear of any good sales. I need a Pink Cardigan still.
The Essex Scout sounds familiar. Perhaps I have seem it in other colors.

I thought of you today because Swirl is having an orla kiely bag and clothing sale. If you need an invite you can use my link: http://beta.swirl.com/invite/jesspgh

I have never heard of swirl. Definitely will check out the OK sale.
Ha-ha! I haven't had an issue with heel grips. Do they melt or stick to hot tar? I don't do much walking in the heat, except to Target across from my Building. I'm at work so early that I take the parking space nearest the door, and shaded by the building in the afternoon. We will cool off back down to upper 80's tomorrow only. Then back to the 100's over the holiday. Still...far better than last weeks 113.

Thanks for the info on the fashion tape, because I was considering getting some myself. Do you think they work on knit dresses?

That stuff works like magic, I tell you. Even when I sweat like a trucker. I love Moulinette Soeurs deeply as well. She pumps out the sweetest silky dresses one after the other. Love your styling here. Always divine.
