Got Tape!

Happy Monday!  Why am I happy on a back to work Monday?  Because it's the 4 day week of my 9/80 work schedule.  That means I am off this Friday.  But what makes it even sweeter is... next Monday is the 4th of July Holiday.  I get a 4-day weekend.  That's almost a vacation.  I'm curious if anyone takes advantage of a 9/80 work schedule.

I was a surprised at how small my Painted Orchid Belt from Anthro is. At first it appeared to be made for a child.  It wasn't until then, that $50 on sale seemed like too much.  But, when I tried it with the Reflecting Pools Dress, it was LOVE.

Swift Current Cardi in Blue - by Tabitha - eBay BIN $48 - April 2011
Painted Orchid Belt in Red - by Exquisite J Reincarnation Italy - Anthro Orig $98 Sale $50 - June 2011
I'm not sure if this photo is a blurry, or the Pattern of the Dress looks that way.  Maybe both.  The belt is sagging because my employee badge is hanging off to one side.  Who wasn't completely awake at 6 AM?  Me!

Retro Rosie Earrings in Coral - Modcloth $10 - June 2011
Faceted Carnelian Leather Wrap - by Etsy Shop Rowdy Wear $75 - Sept 2009

I might have an obsession with Moulinette Seours Silk Slip Dresses?  First the Verdant Slip Dress.  Then the Reflecting Pools Dress.  And finally, last week the Sangatte Slip Dress on sale.  If you placed a bet that I would buy a Fourth should it appear online, you would likely win.

Stick By Me Lingerie Tape - Modcloth $8 - June 2011

I finally sprung for Tape to hold clothing to skin.  Shop Stick By Me Lingerie Tape HERE.  But before you do, consider this.  If you are going to be outside in the heat don't bother.  It won't stay stuck if you get wet or if you sweat.  And if you have Hot Flashes, it doesn't work to well either.  Ha-ha! It keeps the sides of my sweater stuck to my chest for about an hour. What is the point?

Shiny Leather Caraway Bag in Mauve - Orla Kiely Orig $584 Sale $380 - Feb 2011
If my shoes look familiar, you just saw them last week with my #1 favorite Anthro Dress HERE.  But what I forgot to show you last week, I remembered to show you today.

Finest Hour Heels - by Miss Albright - Anthro Orig $158 Sale $80 - May 2011
No, No Ladies! Not the Love Scratches.  The bows!  Now you want them don't you?  It was Peggy of She Hath Done What She Could that found Miss Albright's Finest Hour Heels for me in her local Anthro Store. Peggy is celebrating her 200th Follower with a give-away.  Please give Peggy my love, and tell her how much I adore the shoes she found for me.

Why am I all smiles?  There was a group of Moms and Kids (about a dozen) running a circut that included the Amphitheater stairs.  I'm surprised I didn't catch any of them in action behind me.  Naturally they were smiling and watching me as they ran.  Who wouldn't stare at a crazy woman right smack dab in the middle of an Amphitheater, taking pictures of herself with a huge camera and tripod.  I would stare too.  They gave me good reason to smile back.

I adore that dress on you, Laura! Just gorgeous! I'm tempted to try one of those slip dresses by Moulinette, but I'm afraid they'll be too short on me!

You really must visit Etsy. Go to search shops. Look for A Slip Shop. Nothing will ever be too short again Mandy.

Hahaha..laughing at your commentary about the kids and moms around you while you were taking your picture with your tripod and big camera!
Nice styling of the MS slip dress - looks fab with the belt even though it's sagging due to your employee badge. Hehe. And gosh how I would kill for those shoes!
I'm back in oz...things are pretty boring here in comparison :-) I experienced 115 degrees while in Vegas. Ouch!

Were you in Vegas on Wednesday? Bakersfield is only slightly cooler and just as dry. Did you visit Anthro in Ceasars Palace? I mentioned it in email. It was the first of only 3 Anthro stores I have shopped at.

I bet you are happy to be home boring or not. I'm not much for traveling, so home is never boring for me.

I recall sitting in a large stadium a few years ago waiting for 4th of July Fireworks. It was 115. Now, I know there are areas of OZ that can be very hot.

How hot are Australia's hot spots?

YOU MY GOODNESS!! I WANT SHOES LIKE THOSE!! That bow just made me..... swoon - thud... passing out from the awesomeness of them. That dress and sweater are smashing on you... you look so great in this entire ensemble! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! I haven't tried the tape, yet. I really don't need it because I try to wear things where the girls stay inside anyway! Maybe, if I try it, then I COULD wear something a little sexier on a date with hubby..... hmmm.. 'tis a thought! Have a great day! Your smile is super happy looking today! Cheers! xoxo

Sherry you are such a pleasure to hear from. I didn't actually mention it but, the bag is my newest Orla. Although I've had it for months now.

These lovely clogs sold out online before making sale. There were three pair on a shelf in Peggy's local store. She couldn't believe it that one pair was my size. I'm so grateful to her, because I certainly wear them alot.

I have ordered that same dress and it came today. Isn't it lovely? I love it! I love it on you too :)) I also have the Verdant slip: they're just gorgeous. I blame the dresses. :)

Do you think there will be a number 4? Maybe next year since it's so late already for the Summer Season. So what about the Sangatte Slip Dress on Sale? Why not get that one too? You could just blame me for that one! Ha-ha!

Sent from Laura's iPhone
I hope there is a number four. I love the dresses. :)
Yea, maybe I should get the Sangatte too :p :)) But I'm wasn't really impressed with the pattern of that dress I guess. :)
The Sangatte arrived last night. I can't believe I haven't even opened the box. It's in my car.

HI Laura! You look great today! The belt doesn't look too small, but I can see how you would expect it to be larger considering other belts that were similar. It's a beautiful shade of red and it pops beautifully against the dress. Moulinette Soeurs makes beautiful dresses. I would own all of them if I could.
What's a 9/80?
Fashion tape is like manna from heaven! I use them to keep some of my blouses from gaping. I don't have the tape, though. I may need to get that instead.

Anthro disguised the size of the Buckle. They coiled the belt in one product shot. They turned it around and hid the Buckle in the second. Normally they show the belt on a dress form. Why didn't I catch that?

I can see the Slip Dresses repeated every Summer for many years. I wouldn't complain.

9/80 schedule is 80 hours of work in 9 days.
Week #1: 4 X 9 hr/d plus 1 X 8 hr/d = 44 hrs
Week #2: 4 X 9 hr/d = 36 hrs Total 80 hours
Plus a 3-day weekend every other week. Like Tony the Tiger. It's Great!

From my Yahoo Mail - Laura
Tricky Anthro! Shame on them. Maybe they knew the belt was a tad small and wanted it to seem larger? I know Victoria's Secret will do that in a lot of their clothing product shots. I purchased sweaters from there that appeared to be longer than what I purchased. After looking closer, I realized that they cleverly disguised how short it was by the way the models posed or what they were paired with.

I see. That sounds like the best 9 day cycle. We had something similar that was a trial. Our work week is 37.5 hours instead of 40, so we would work 30 minutes extra each day for any 15 days in a month, then we would get 1 day off. The remaining days were flex days, so if we needed a day to sleep in we could. There were a lot of restrictions on when we could take the day off, etc. I decided to stop after a few months because it was way too much control and too many rules to make it worth the hassle.
The 9/80 has been given and taken away depending on the need to fill positions. At the moment we are short of Engineers. It's tough to attract good people to Bakersfield. The 9/80 is a perk that is very attractive.

It's too bad your Co. didn't offer the 9/80. It allows an additional 24 extra days off a year. There are negatives. For example, you wouldn't think one less hour a day would impact your schedule. But it does. At first it takes some getting used to. Certain personnel need to be at work daily. Those departments were not given the option of the 9/80. Other departments will split the Friday off 50/50. You can opt out if you wish. I love it.
Love the bows on the back of those shoes! So precious! I hadn't noticed them online!

It was the bows that sealed it for me.

The colors in your outfit look really great on you! Yes, now I want those shoes. Grrr.

I have used Hollywood Fashion Tape and it works well here, but it did not hold up in Texas' gulf coast humidity! I do like that the Stick It To Me comes on a roll...might have to try that.
1 reply · active 718 weeks ago
The backing is split down the middle so very easy to separate. The heat is dry here, so it would probably work if it weren't for the pesky hot flashes. Boo!

I love these colors on you, Laura!
1 reply · active less than 1 minute ago
Thank you for saying so Diem. There are so many colors I would never wear. Lavender, Royal Blue, none of the Reds, not even Pink, until this year.

Every time I've worn these colors recently, I have received positive feedback. I'm beginning to see them in a new light. So I have been slowly adding them into my wardrobe.

I love slip dresses too! I also love the Reflecting Pool Dress with the blue cardigan. I'm going to have to try that combo myself. :)
Looking good Laura! I bought the sagnette slip dress on sale, and have been keeping my eyes open for a cute and delicate belt. I have the emerald green wedges and they look amazing with it. :-)
I've used Hollywood tape and have mixed feelings. It keeps my clothes from gaping open and showing off my bra, but it also makes things hang in strange ways when you move. Fortunately my hot flashes are only in the middle of the night, so no need for taping my clothes on at that point! :-)
1 reply · active 718 weeks ago
Emerald Green must be amazing with the Sangatte Slip. You may not even need a belt. I haven't begun to think about what i will wear with mine. I also ordered the Floral Gathered Hemlock Dress.

Consider yourself lucky. I get Hot Flashes about every 1/2 hour. 24 hours a day. I have a fan on my desk at work pointing at my face. Another on the night stand by the bed. The ceiling fan can't seem to do the job.

The tape does seem to cause Cardigans to hang in an odd way. Being Busty doesn't help the situation.

btw--I'm lusting after the corey lynn calter skirt with the owls on it. I think it wascalled the skye owl skirt. If you ever come across one or hear of one, think of me. Don't know why it has grabbed me like it has, but I want some owls! ;-)
4 replies · active 718 weeks ago
Owls? I heard or saw something about an owl skirt the other day. I can't for the life of me remember where. I will have to investigate that. Was is something Anthro had that I missed? Where did you see or hear about it last?

Sent from Laura's iPhone
I don't know if it was anthro, but the SA at my anthro store was wearing it. She's the one that told me it was corey lynn calter--very whimsical. :-) Short, though. I'd need to check out the slips on etsy if I ever find the skirt. :-)
Laurel
Laurel,

Have you tried to find the CLC skirt online? eBay? Shopstyle? The Find? Googled it?

Sent from Laura's iPhone
I've tried them all--I think eventually I should see one on ebay if I'm diligent. That would be ok too--maybe preworn would cost less.

On another note, I did buy the gilded catkins dress on ebay in an 8 (I'm a 4). Looks like it will be super easy for my tailor to take in the sides and make it fit perfectly. It was one I'd been stalking and finally gave up on ever seeing a 4 in.
Laura, these colors look great on you. The muted tones in the dress do seem a bit different than your usual, but I love it. And, as always, you are rocking a fabulous OK bag. And floral-phile me just loves that adorable belt!

And I'm so glad I unearthed another Kate Spade fan. I just took a look in your closet and saw the Micheline cardigan. I can't wait to see it in an OOTD. Perhaps with yellow? I recently added a not so thrifty KS item to my collection: the much-coveted Essex Scout bag. In pink! Very difficult to find and sold out everywhere, but Lord and Taylor had one left. And I had a 25% coupon. But I am forcing myself to wait to use it!

The 9/80 option sounds fantastic! It's not offered by my company, but I do have a relatively flexible schedule, which I appreciate. I tend to work 9:30-7:00ish on a daily basis (though I usually leave after 8:00 a few days a week. On these days, BF is irritated and refuses to take pictures for me). By staggering my arrival time and departure times to be after rush hour, I can cut down on my commute by a little bit. It's still a 2.5 hour commute round trip, BUT, I like where I live and where I work, so it is okay.
1 reply · active less than 1 minute ago
Your commute is atrocious. Is that by train or driving? Mine is 15 minutes one way. I received my KS sweater last night. So much better in person than the image. I got it online from the KS store. I plan to wear it with the CLC Dress that I am hiding in the same Folder.

Where are the best online KS deals? And please let me know if you hear of any good sales. I need a Pink Cardigan still.

The Essex Scout sounds familiar. Perhaps I have seem it in other colors.

I love this outfit! Such a pretty dress! And the tape idea is a good one but it is good to know that in the heat it doesn't hold up. I've found that to be an issue with heel grips too.

I thought of you today because Swirl is having an orla kiely bag and clothing sale. If you need an invite you can use my link: http://beta.swirl.com/invite/jesspgh
5 replies · active 718 weeks ago
Jess,

I have never heard of swirl. Definitely will check out the OK sale.

Ha-ha! I haven't had an issue with heel grips. Do they melt or stick to hot tar? I don't do much walking in the heat, except to Target across from my Building. I'm at work so early that I take the parking space nearest the door, and shaded by the building in the afternoon. We will cool off back down to upper 80's tomorrow only. Then back to the 100's over the holiday. Still...far better than last weeks 113.

You look fantastic as always! And heck, if you find a dress that fits and flatters you and makes you feel like a million Euros, why not get it multiples?

Thanks for the info on the fashion tape, because I was considering getting some myself. Do you think they work on knit dresses?
The belt is lovely with that dress! Great buy - and I love Fashion Tape, one of my most useful tools :)
I'm a believer in the Hollywood Glamour tape... .http://anthromollogies.com/2011/04/04/queen-of-your-closet-series-tape-it-plus-a-tiny-giveaway/
That stuff works like magic, I tell you. Even when I sweat like a trucker. I love Moulinette Soeurs deeply as well. She pumps out the sweetest silky dresses one after the other. Love your styling here. Always divine.
1 reply · active 718 weeks ago
I was hoping the Modcloth Tape would be the same as the Hollywood. I included it in an order to save on shipping. That's what I get for excepting an imitation. If it works in the Texas humidity than it should be armor against my Hot Flashes and the dry heat of Bakersfield.

Sent from Laura's iPhone
Love this dress on you! Have been wanting to try on both this one and the Verdant---envious! Fabulous shoes as well.
1 reply · active 718 weeks ago
You should really try at least one of the Moulinette Soeurs Slip Dresses. I received the Sangatte last night. The print is very different. But it actually runs small compared to the other two. Just in case you want to get that one on sale.
