Orange You in the Navy?

Happy Friday!

I had no success with photos posting using the email method for iPhone. So I created a PLAN B for Photos just in case I have to resort to using my iPhone to Post. I'm hoping you will take a few moments to read and follow the instructions for my back-up plan.

Click the BLUE LINK below to jump to the Home Page of the Share Site. Click the first Photo Album on the left. I'm wearing the Saliboat Skirt. Click the first photo to view. Use the right arrow to move to the next photo. When you are done, click HOME at the top of the page. Click on the next album below to view the product images for today's outfit if you like. The captions provide info. Use the arrow to move to the next image. Click HOME when done.

Use the Link to Anthro Closet Chaos at the top of the HOME PAGE to return for two childhood stories.

I promise, it's easy. You can also use your browser back button to return. I think! Tell me in a comment if it works.  Was it simple to follow?  Did you like?  Not like it?  Why?

Give it a try..

Despite the fact that I am a Military Brat I rarely wore Navy Blue as an adult until Anthro. I thought the color depressing for good reason. I believe it stems from the death of my Father. He died one month before my 2nd birthday. My Brother was 3 months old. After my Fathers death my Mother claims I called all men in uniform, Daddy.

My Father was an Air Force Bomber Mechanic. He died at the age of 22. This makes me sad when I think that my own Son is 23. My Father was on Hazardous Duty when the Pease Bomber he was flying in crashed and burned on the runway. All 4 men were killed.

My Mother remarried a few years later. She told me this funny story yesterday.

When I was 4, my family went by ship to live in Hawaii. Our car was loaded into the cargo hold to make the trip with us.

My Step Father BTW, was a NAVY Captain. I wish I could remember this story. But I barely remember Hawaii at all.

When we arrived at Pearl Harbor, we watched the cars unloading from the ship.

Well, the car right in front of ours fell right onto the ocean. Our car was OK.

I love this color combination, Laura! The short sleeve sweater looks to be perfect for a chilly office or restaurant.

That is so sad that your Dad passed away at such a young age.

Imagine my panic when my only child joined the Army at 17. It's is his blood. I was thankful when he became to sick with Asthma to pass the 2 mile run to graduate from Boot Camp. Medical Discharge.I often feel bad about it, because it was his dream.

But OMG was I a wreck.

I'm so sorry that you lost your Dad at such a young age (both you and he).

The car going into the water during the unloading is such a fail blog video if they had fail blog back then. :)

What a great outfit. It's nautical, but also girly and whimsical. I love that you aren't afraid to mix black and navy.
Hi Laura,

Love your blog. I just purchase my lemon stick wedges on Tuesday and I am in love! I think I may have to get the sailboat skirt now. Wanted to mention that Ideeli is having a sale on poetic license shoes, if you haven't seen this brand you would love them, they go great with anthro pieces. Have a great weekend!

The rubber sole on my Lemon Sticks is peeling up at the heel on both shoes. I think it's because I use my heels to push and pull my office chair while I'm sitting in it. But still I think they should have been glued better. I will have to take them to the shoe repair or glue them myself. So be careful with your's. I have a pair of Poetic License Backlash, AKA Anthro Lass and Laddie Oxfords. Love them!
Great thinking with the orange!! I still haven't worn my skirt yet- maybe I'll wear it on my anniversary date!

Love the orange and navy together Laura :) I am so sorry to hear about your dad, that must have been quite difficult on your mom. But that part about the car falling off the boat did make me laugh a little.

My grandparents flew out to Kittery Maine and brought us all back to San Diego. My Father too. My mom was still breast feeding my brother and they gave her sedatives and told her to stop. Dumb Drs.

My Father rests beside both his Parents who out lived him. When I was little, my Nanny and Grandpop would take us to the Mausoleum where he was buried. It's very fancy. Granite and Marble statuary. My Brother and I would have to Whisper. When my Grandpop died years later, they had to open the wall up to put his casket inside. It was more than I could take Jess. I could see my Fathers casket inside the wall. I was supposed to get up and say something and I couldn't speak. My Moms Dad, we call him PopPop came up and spoke for me. : ) I think that was the first time I remember crying for my loss. : ( I was 35 years old.

Hi Laura,
The car falling of the boat is a funny story. We recently took our car on a ferry from Anacortes, WA to Vancouver Island. It was my first time on a car ferry. Everything was secured etc, but it was sort of freaky to think...what if something happened and all the cars (including a few big trucks and RVs) sank with the ferry?! Modern engineering is so amazing, don't you think!

I really like the orange and blue combo. I think yellow and blue would look good too! :-)

Did you miss the link to photos of my first styling withthe Yellow Lundin Links Sweater?

I haven't been on a Ferry in many years. I would love it. There have been some bad disasters recently involving ferry's. No joke!

Ah! I DID Miss the link! Lovely. I really wantthat Lundin Links sweater...so many good colors. I love yellow and blue together although sometimes I feel guilty because it's "UCLA" colors (I went to USC....)
Now that is funny. You should love Red and Gold more.

Ha-ha! Not me. I just picked up the Orange in the Skirt. Nothing to it. The Navy Cardi is only needed in the cold office.

Thanks for sharing all your stories. I enjoy learning tidbits about you. And your dad, step dad and son sound like such brave men. You seem like one tough cookie yourself. ;-)

Wow! That is quit a compliment you gave me. Considering all that you have been through. How is your new found freedom working out for you?

I am tough in mind and spirit. The rest of me is wimpy.

Hi Laura. Thank you so much for sharing this difficult part of your life with us. I admire your bravery -- I am not certain I could have shared something so painful..and with such grace, as you've done. You are one impressive, strong lady.

And, as always, you look stunning. The orange really brightens up the subdued, muted colors in this skirt. And I love your Anthro cape. it is much better than my Outer Hebrides, which makes me look like a linebacker!

Thanks Jamie. Why this ancient history came out now is beyond me. I suppose because I have associated it to the color Navy. I appreciate your inspiring words.

I've had the Caped Cardi for several years. I picked it up on sale at 2nd cut for $20. Last year I caught a Pop Back in the Catalog of the Burgundy color-way, for $20. So I have both versions. I think the tailored fit through the torso is flattering.

The Outer Hebrides is such a fun little cape, I suspect you can look past the quirky fit. I recall a seller on eBay certainly recognized how cute you looked in it. Ha-ha!
Oh this skirt is sooo perfect on you! Isn't it such a beautiful skirt? Clara purchased it as well and everytime I see it on her I drool! But you did such a fun job pairing everything! You are so playful!

Thank you Midory. Normally, I steer clear of skirts like this. All my skirts are pencil. But this skirt has closed pleats all the way to the hips, then flairs out. So it looks flattering on everyone. I hope Anthro makes more of these.
