Strawberries, Pears and a Coke! The Caranday Cause!

The Berry Months Dress could in fact be my favorite dress.

But it's not possible to make a decision with so many dresses that qualify as my favorite.
Does that make sense?

Keiko of Keiko's TanPoPo has been worried about me.  She sent an email last night expressing her concern over my lack of posts. It's really very simple.  I kept forgetting my Camera.

Please visit my lovely Friend Keiko. She is celebrating her one year Blog Anniversary with a Giveaway that is the perfect accessory for the Take Action Dress.

My friend Joni recently won a bid for Anthro's Caranday Dress by Corey Lynn Calter on eBay. Who doesn't love the Caranday Dress.  She did everything right.  She communicated with the Seller many times during the transaction. The Seller even went so far as to leave Joni positive feedback. Joni also received tracking for the dress. But the dress was never delivered, along with a Snake Bite Belt.  Joni jumped right back on the eBay bus in true Pollyanna style. She replaced the Belt, but as you may know, Caranday's are in high demand.

Berry Months Dress + Orla Kiely's Pear Tote + CocaCola Vending Machine = I Prefer Pepsi Myself

My J Crew Jackie in Cerise arrived an entire month early.  When I looked up the definition of Cerise (I don't need another Orange Cardi) it was described as Red.  Say hello to my umpteenth Orange Cardigan.  But since I don't have an Orange Jackie, I'll keep it.

I have taken up the Caranday Cause for Joni.  I will continue to Post this APB until a dress is found.  Please contact Joni at (jcpollyanna@cox.net) if you spot a size 2 Caranday in Red or Green.

If it wasn't for Anthro's Limoncello Necklace and Orla Kiely's Pear Print Tote, I would look like Christmas in August.

I picked up a couple of very cute lace trimmed shorts at Modcloth to wear under my dresses.  I can't stand getting into a 120 degree car and having my legs stick together. Yuck!  These are nylon and so far do not get damp.  And the lining of my dress doesn't cling either.  Anthro Closet Chaos Tested - Laura Approved.  One Size Fits All and Non Returnable. Ivory are OOS.

I suggest hand wash line dry if you want them to last

I had the same thing happen to me over a year ago on ebay with the Felted Lei Cardigan. I have been searching for two years for this cardigan and that is the closest I ever came to getting one. Paid about $145 for it and it never showed up. Got a tracking number and everything...nada. Ebay refunded my money and that is where the story ends. I am still looking for this cardigan. It my Anthro dream that never came true. Sad.

Just this past month I had another incident with an anthro trench coat...paid the money, talked with the seller, they "sent" the item and it never arrived. I asked for a refund and they gave it to me...and then it BOUNCED. So ebay ended up giving me a refund. It was more infuriating this time than anything else...the Felted Lei cardigan really hurt, that was a heartbreak. : /

I wonder what happens to sellers that do those kinds of things...

I'll keep an eye out for a size 2 Caranday for Joni!!! I found one at the GoodWill near my house about two months ago in a size 2 which I sold on the EA trade board for $5. I'll have to hope another one shows up for her!!!!

I remember the Felted Lei Cardi. I'm impressed that you found a Caranday dress at Goodwill. But why on earth did you sell it for only $5?

Thank you for taking up the Caranday Cause for Joni.

It was just one of those things where I thought...imagine if someone who could wear a size 2 found this dress at GoodWill for only $5...can you imagine how excited they would be??? So I put up on EA Trade and figured it would make someone over the moon happy, and it did!!!

I am a sucker for happy Anthro endings :)
You are so sweet. And I think you must have some serious good fashion karma coming your way!
Oh Elsie!! I feel your pain! I don't know why I'm SO surprised that someone would do something like this, but I am!! I DO know that I will continue to see the good in people, and not let this get me down! See, I already have special people like you and Laura, and many others that have come forward to help make me feel better! What a GREAT community! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! : )

Joni : )
I think J. Crew needs to fire whoever is in charge of pairing names with colors. Last time I ordered a "red" cardigan from J.Crew, it turned out closer to burnt orange. I still love the 'cerise' shade, though. It looks lovely on you. I think I must be channeling your style instincts because I paired orange with moss green yesterday, too!

Both J Crew and Anthro are color blind sometimes. I mean why don't they just call it what it is...dark Red Orange. Instead they give it a fancy name to impress us.

When they pick a color name, they probably don't think to consider online shoppers. I have one True Red Kate Spade that's wool. I need a Summer weight Red Sweater in Cotton. I needed it yesterday, last week, and all the way back to last year. I looked for one all Summer and never found it.

It True Red banned for Summer?

It was only a week.

Oh, wow...I guess it felt like longer! You started your post by saying Keiko checked in with you to make sure you were doing fine, so I guess I thought it must have been longer! Even just a week, nice to have a post from you, as always!
Love how you styled the dress! I still can't get over how well your OK bags go with absolutely everything!
I just ordered the Whirligig Dress in navy, so maybe that will be my new favorite. Did you get any goodies from the sale?!

Oh I was bad. And I did such a stupid thing. A bunch of Wish listed items went second and even third cut. Then I added an expensive Full Priced dress so I could get $14 worth of shipping free. But I didn't stop there. I then realized I had missed a much awaited $400 wish listed Necklace that had went 2nd cut to $100. So I ordered it, and along came a $10 shipping fee. I should right a book on how to shop online stupidly.

The Whirlygig is a perfect piece for your Polyvore styling talents. I bet you can create several great styles out of a drapey solid dress like that. Can't wait to see them Loraine.

So sorry to hear about Joni's terrible ebay experience. It makes me sad and furious that sellers can get away with scamming people like that.

I've had fairly good luck with ebay (knock on wood), although one time I won a bid for a JCrew blazer. I went ahead and paid, then a day later the seller contacted me that "oops, somehow this listing was a duplicate, and she had already sold the jacket in another auction." Seriously?!?! How does a listing run for 7 days and you not realize it is a duplicate???? We worked things out and she ended up offering me another jacket in exchange, but I still felt a bit scammed by the whole deal.

Oh I've had my let downs Kelly. Funny thing is...I wasn't even looking for a Caranday Dress when I found one on eBay 7 hours from ending, and won the auction. I have yet to wear the dress. I must be saving it for something!

Some of those Sellars have big numbers. I can honestly see a duplicate getting away from a Seller that is unorganized. At least she was willing to work with you. But it doesn't help that you didn't get your Jacket. Because, if you are looking on eBay, it must be something that is highly valuable to you, and can't be found elsewhere. At least not quickly, or easily, or maybe not ever. So losing it because of another persons stupid mistake hurts.

Sometimes you can spend days, weeks, months looking for a treasure. You are more likely to find something of value to you when you least expect it.

My ONE THAT GOT AWAY was Orla Kiely's Giant Tapestry Bag. I couldn't swing the $600 when it hit sale. When I had the money a few months later I couldn't find the bag anywhere. I gave up after a few months. Shortly after that I visited eBay. I hadn't even thought of looking for the bag. It was right there at the top of the search. Mainly because it was the most expensive item. Gently used, but like new. Only $400. The orig price was $800. There were no other bidders.

I can't wait until Winter just so I can carry that bowling ball sized bag. It's featured right in side OK's Patterns Book. It's very rare!

What a good idea to wear shorts under your dress! I must try this! You know that pretty scalloped slip you posted about? Well, I ordered one from Etsy too, thanks for the tip!! This dress is so beautiful on you, I can see why it's one of your favorite dresses...I have a lot of favorites too! It's so nice of you to try to hunt down the dress for Joni!

The Anthro Community has come to my aid on so many items I had no hope of finding without their help. No Anthro Zones truly bite! So naturally I will jump at the chance to return the favor. And I make new friends along the way.

I am glad you are doing ok!! I missed you!!
You look lovely in the dress. I think the dress is made for you!!

Thank you for the link to my blog for the giveaway! Who's gonna win!!?

Oh, what a bummer. I have never had a negative experience with ebay, but I know someone who has. It was kind of a similar situation - paid for an item, got shipping info, item never arrived. The person this happened to ended up doing some crazy detective work and found a lot of information about the seller, including a home phone number. After lots of phone calls (to the sellers house/cell), emails, etc. the situation still wasn't resolved. Ebay wasn't helpful, but paypal ended up refunding some of the money.

Love your outfit! The yellow accents are perfect. That' is one color I don't have (jackie cardigan) YET.

Thank you ALL again! You don't know HOW much it means to me to have your friendship and support!! : ) It also helps to know I'm not alone, although I'm sorry that this has happened to some of you or someone you know! We are SO lucky that WE have chosen to be good people!!

Kavita,

Thanks Laura! We're arranging the details right now. Are you going to Roxy's EA event in NYC next month? Just wondering because I am attending one of the days and would love to meet you!
Yes Kavita. I will be in NYC for the EA event on the 25th. I guess my secret is out. How did you know? I don't think I mentioned it on a blog. Oh wait! Yes I did on EA. I will only be there one lousy day. Darn!

I would love to meet you. You are awesome. You will have to tell me how you found the Green Caranday when you have time.

Kavita, I just let the cat out of the bag didn't I?

Kavita, It just sunk in. You are selling you're Green Dress Because you won a Red one on eBay. This is so awesome. Thank you so much. A win-win for everyone.

Haha, yes! I signed up for the 25th, too!
I can't decide which Anthro dress i love the most. I love them all...particularly the Mullany, Mompos and Take Action :-)
I'm so sorry to read about Joni's ebay incident. It's never happened to me, but then again, i hardly buy from ebay. I wonder what happened to it...it may have even gotten lost in the post? I hope she finds another Caranday dress.

Hi Jen.

The dress was never scanned. So the Seller never took it to the Post Office. Turned out the Sellers Phone number was fake too. Like Joni you are a Pollyanna. Which is not a bad thing. You want to find the good in people even when the evidence proves otherwise.
But that also makes you a wonderful person. I am a skeptic to the core. Most people have to prove they are worthy of my trust before I offer it. Once proven, you may still be scrutinized.

I think I am in love with your shoes Laura, so adorable :D And you will be in NYC? that is so cool! So very very cool :D I was there that time last year pretty much, it was really hot, but lovely. Hope you have a blast. I should be back to blogging soon, move in two days, then the ceremony in the next week. Ahh can't wait to relax.
