No Anthro Zone Review and OOTD! I'm a Take Action Kind of Gal!

I was shocked to discover The Take Action Dress had completely sold out online in my size. Did I expect this dress to make sale?  Honestly?  Yes!

I immediately put out an APB for a size Four.  It was AimeeH that came through with a Dress for me. I owe you a huge thank you Aimee.  This quote is a favorite of my Mother's, "You will receive Rubies and Diamonds in Heaven."

No Anthro Zone Review:  The Take Action Dress - by Girls of Savoy - $168  (sold out in most sizes)
This is one of those classic, timeless Anthro Dresses that keeps me tuned in. Perfect for work with a Cardi. Great for a party with heels. Slap on flats for a day of shopping. Done right, this is not your average dress.

Anthro's Take Action Dress - by Girls of Savoy - $168 - April 2011

SIZE: Since I'm on the busty side, I went with my normal size 4. According to most reviews you may be able to size down. Particularly if you are not well endowed. I'm 5'5" Tall, 130 lbs, 35-28-36, 34C to D.

FIT: The Gathered waistband is 2 inches above my natural waist. But is flattering since the gathering runs the sides and back only. The length is just above my knees. My bra straps show from the back. Nothing a halter style bra can't handle. The arm holes are not too long. I don't really see the bunching some online reviewers mention.

Bejeweled Bee Ring - by Kenneth Lane - Anthro Orig $105 Sale $70 - July 09 - 22K gold, enamel and Swarovski Crystals

WHAT I LOVE MOST...is the Turquoise Silk Dotted with Green-Yellow Polkas. The Gathered waist runs the back and sides, not the front. A very well thought out detail. Fully lined in Turquoise Poly with Yellow Trim. The neckline pleats nicely frame a pendant necklace.

WHAT I MISS MOST...are Pockets.

Styling for Spring was a challenge. Sure you can wear yellow accessories, but a good dress should style at least 3 ways especially if purchased at Full Price. I spiced up the Turquoise and Yellow with Purple.

Recommended Full 5 stars. Some can size down. TTS for Busty Gals. Waistband is high but flattering. May require a halter style bra.

One of the covered buttons at the waist came apart while I was wearing this yesterday. Thankfully, my dress came with extra buttons.  I'm not sure if it was because of the belt.  I sewed on the extra and was able to repair the button with glue.

So many reviews, OOTD's and styling options are available for this dress.  I probably could have skipped todays review.

No sale today!  A little bird told me to keep my eyes glued to Effortless Anthropologie.  Something larger than usual is expected this week.

I love your pops of purple with this dress! I think it's the best styling I've seen yet!

I don't know if I want to hunt it down in my size...I tried on a 4 once and it seemed a little blousy in the top, but a 2 would probably be too small for my shoulders. Hmmm.

I don't see how the shoulders can be too small in a sleeveless dress. But then, I have no shoulders, so I know nothing about that issue.

Was there a reason you didn't try a 2 at the time?

I've been wanting ask you this Terrie. Are you the Top 10 reviewer named the Anthropologist on the Anthro Site?

And do you know who is number 1. I never see #1 anymore.

I think the way the dress angles inward might make my shoulders look even wider than they are, but who knows. I just didn't have time to try on a 2--it can get really frustrating when you grab a bunch of things in your size and then they all fit so differently!

I am not the Anthropologist on the anthro website--I tried to use that name, but it was taken. I have no idea who #1 is.
Haha Terrie! I should be so lucky. Try looking at the Internet and getting the right size when you know it's going to cost a small fortune to try on one Dress.

Anthro has made it even worse by having models wearing all the knit Tee shirts. Different models. At least on a bust form there was some consistency. But they took that away completely. Grrr!

I wore this yesterday. It's been cool here too. The tights helped. I'm actually wearing the Tippi Dress today. Will post that tomorrow.

The Take Action looks great on you. I love it paired with yellow and purple! What I love even more is that awesome ring you have on:)
I'm so glad you took action on this dress. It is simply divine on you!!! LOVED the way you styled it. I never thought to pair it w. purple. Thanks for the inspiration =)

I don't even know why pairing it with Purple occurred to me. I think I looked at my color chart. Sometimes that's all the inspiration I need.

This dress is gorgeous paired with the purple! I also spy a fun little bumble bee sitting on your finger. I'm sure you know by now that I love creature jewelry and accessories. You've styled this dress well, which isn't a surprise :)

I am trying so hard to resist this one, but it looks so pretty on everyone, and I love polka dots. I already have the Twinkle Twinkle though so it feels like a duplicate. I will probably snatch it up on sale though if I can find my size. Thanks for the review!

That dress looks great on you Laura! Love the pops of purple with it :)
You are most definitely a Take Action kind of girl, Laura! Wearing this dress with a plum cardigan was such a creative way to style this. It really brings out the vintage feel of the dress, in my opinion. And the yellow belt (and yellow OK bag) really make the outfit and tie all the colors together. Another name for this outfit could be "how to wear jewel tones in spring."

Thanks so much, as always, for your comment on my post. I was typing too fast and forgot to note that the kate spade shoes were $48 on ebay. Not bad, esp. for KS!!!

oh, and I have you to thank for a recent (not thrifty!) acquisition that I EZSniped: the j. crew ladybug necklace that Emma Pillsbury wears in Glee. Very hard to find. Won it for $116, over another bidder with $113 bid. I am sure I would not have won if I hadn't used EZSnipe. My ladybug necklace can befriend your bee ring. Oh, and I used the referral link from you, so I think you should get credit!!!

Awesome about the EZSnipe win. I was just discussing EZSnipe with Beth (also known as thegreatblueheron). She originally told me about sniping last fall. We wondered why more people didn't use it. And we wondered what would happen if we found ourselves bidding against each other. Thank goodness you had that max bid set $3 higher. Can't wait to see your necklace. And way to go on the Kate Spade shoes. THRIFTY is your middle name.

Your reviews are always so thorough and well written. I love reading them - very helpful!! I agree that this is a classic Anthro piece - one that can be worn for several different occassions. Great job on styling it, Laura! The purple tones work beautifully with the dress! I LOVE your bee ring :)
This dress looks so cute on you Laura!
