Trinket Inspired!

Giddy Necklace in Purple - Anthro Orig $42 Sale $30 - July 2011

Every once in a while, it's fun to style in reverse.  That's what I did with Anthro's Violet tasseled, crochet covered, faceted plastic, bead bedecked Giddy Necklace.  Like mixed up berries strung out on a dainty looped Gold vine.  When shook it makes a quiet jingle only you will hear.

I took a spin through my Closet holding the Necklace up in front of my cloths. I could have referenced the Color Wheel on the background of my Desktop.  Please tell me that you Gals keep a Color Wheel handy for reference.

Less than a minute later I found harmony for the Violet Giddy Necklace.  Anthro's Jaqueline Dress in Chartreuse.  On the Color Wheel, Yellow and Violet are directly across from each other. They're complimentary.  That explains why the dress and the necklace are pleasing together. As an added bonus, the Ivory bodice breaks up the outfit.  I wouldn't want to blind my friends and co-workers in passing.

Did I go overboard by pairing J Crew's Cashmere Cardi and Anthro's Quelusia Heels?  Too much Violet perhaps?

Next time I might try my Jackie Cardi in Radiant Orchid with Anthro's Infinite Loop Sandals for a toned down, casual variation of this outfit.

Nope, nothing bought on sale Laura :-) What can i say, I'm behaving myself!
My outfit today was inspired by my "meh" feeling of being at work. I'm not photographing my outfit today..it's very boring!
You look so cute on the children's playground.
What's this! There is no way you could ever look boring. WEar your favorite dress tomorrow. On days when the thought of work is a challenge, it helps to feel good about your outfit.

If there is anything I can do to help just email me Jen. And thank you for your supportive email you sent earlier. As much as I feel connected to my blog friends, I can also feel just as alone at times.
Wow, this outfit is beautiful - so well thought out and creative! I don't think the violet is too much at all.
I got the Sagebrush Skirt today. I saw your review on Anthro's website and it was very helpful!

Kavita,

I loved that skirt, but it was a total mess for me.  If only Anthro would design pencil skirts with such gorgeous embroidery. I'm happy my review was helpful, and you love your Sagebrush Skirt. I know there were lots of gals on EA the night before, hoping for sale.

I love the color of that j.crew cardi. The yellow in the dress goes so well with it!!

Ooohh, I love this!! So cool that you were inspired by that necklace. The violet is perfect with the yellow. And I can't believe that dress was $98! That's a great price point for an Anthro dress. It actually reminds me of a prettier and more expensive looking version of a $98 dress that was out recently (gray on top and yellow on the bottom, very simple).

I know the dress you speak of Jenn. I'm sure it was also Maeve. This dress is on eBag in Size 4 in the Navy Version. But not listed under the Anthro name. You have to search Maeve. I think it was a BIN for $50.

I promised myself not to shop this month.. but I ended up spending as much as usual... sigh.. but I am happy.
I don't think your outfit has too much violet at all! I love the color and you look really cute in the outfit!!

It's tough to save for Fall fashion when Summer items are bombarding us with tempting prices. And it's far too hot right now to even look at heavy sweaters, coats, and boots. I say buy the sale stuff. By the time it cools off Fall items will be on sale.

You look so pretty hear! Sounds like you have a very organized way of getting dressed. The only color wheel I have is the one in my mind :)

Eek, You have a much better understanding of color than I. Like the Color Wheel in your mind, I had an imaginary one for many years. But it went flat when I started blogging. It was too basic. That's why I need the visual aid. I'm working on creating a new, more complex Wheel. That takes practice.

I'm re-inventing my wheel!

I think the violet sweater and shoes look really nice together, pulled together with that necklace. They are a nice contrast to the yellow dress. Reminds me of how you see yellow and purple flowers together in flowerbeds or floral arrangements. They compliment each other well!

Beautiful ensemble, Laura! I've never used a color wheel, but I find playing around on Polyvore really helps!

Hi Loraine,

Is that a hint? The next time I get a few days of vacation (like next year) I fully intend to give Polyvore another try.

From my Yahoo Mail - Laura
What a great idea to use a color wheel to come up with fab combinations. I know if general what colors are opposite one another, but I think using a color wheel would be super helpful.

I didn't buy anything from the sale yesterday, but I did buy a full price item, the "Bake By Numbers Pie Plate." It's somewhat of a disordered color wheel itself! http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/produ...

Val,

You are so right! Leave it to Anthro to find a Pie Plate that makes a great substitute Color Wheel. Do you plan to bake pies in it? Because it's a great lcenter piece too. For candy, cookies, etc. I would probably put one on my dresser for my odds and ends.

How do you find stuff like this?

From my Yahoo Mail - Laura
Heehee, I was just walking around the cooking section in Anthropologie and came across it. It's very large for baking pies (12-in diameter), so I was considering returning it last night after I brought it home. But all of your great ideas convinced me to keep it and use it as a centerpiece and for desserts, along with baking enormous pies in it occasionally!
That explains why I never see this kind of cool Anthro stuff. It's this uncool No Anthro Zone I live in. I've been in a total of three Anthro stores in three years Val. Are you crying yet?

If i hadn't stumbled onto EA last year, I'd still be walking around with blinders on.

Don't you dare return that awesome pie plate. It's seriously cool. It has been Wish Listed. I'm trying to figure our the design. Finger Prints perhaps? Bunny Ears? Nail Polish Colors? What do you think? All the Above?

This is such a pretty ensemble. I love the combo of the wine colored cardigan with the dress. That necklace pulls it all together! You look wonderful!
I love your color combo and the adorable slip! I bought the Hamatreya skirt-waited for sale on that for a while! I never use a color wheel, but that is a fun idea.

Ali, I love Nathalie Lete! But I cant make full skirts work.

The gorgeous Sage Brush Skirt still gets to me. I ordered it a few months ago. Fit was awful. Too full. If only Anthro would make some pencil skirts covered in luscious embroidery and tiny Bead Work. Arggggg!

The only thing I've kept from Anthro in the last month is my Sugared Dress. All sale stuff has been sent back. That's partially why I'm not ordering from sale. There is nothing I want. Now that I have the Sugared there is nothing new either. Except new shoes of course. Tons of those. All of them in fact.

I really really love that slip (I know I said that before!) and am going to try to hunt it down! I don't have a color wheel but I'm sure it would come in handy- need to look for one now too! Adorable outfit!
