What's in Your Hopi Basket? A Shirtdress, a Tata, and Little Old Me!

This outfit turned out so much better than I expected.  Not only do I love it, I picked up the Hopi Basket Cardigan by Sparrow and the Double-Breasted Shirtdress by Moulinette Soeurs on 2nd cuts for a total of $70.  Full price these two items would have come to a whopping $286. For me this is thrifty.

One new change I have made to Anthro Closet Chaos is to provide the link to the full product image and specific information whenever I mention the name.  When you click the link you will be redirected to my virtual closet.  Why did I do this?  So as to not bog down the blog with additional photos.  It should be easier to comment now.

I'm pointing out another of my Grandmother Cooper's watercolors.  This one is of Venice, Italy.

I almost ordered the Double Breasted Shirtdress at full price.  As soon as the reviews started rolling in I knew I would wait for sale.  If most women can't wear it, it's a sure bet I can.  My only issue is with the belt. The 100% cotton twill is slick, so the belt would not stay put.  I opted to change it out for the Spruce Corset Belt.  The dress arrived a wrinkled mess that required about 1/2 an hour of ironing.  I think once ironed it will be fine with only minor touch ups for many wearings.  And it's Machine Wash Tumble Dry.  Huge plus.

Ahhhhh!  The Hopi Basket Cardi. It's a marvelous blend of mostly Cotton with Nylon, Viscose, Lambswool and Cashmere.  Soft, comfy, pocketed, and NOT frumpy one little bit.

I'm so jealous of her Miss Albright Peep Toes.  Mine were delivered looking like a 10 year old sewed them. BooHoo!

Since neither the dress or cardi are catalog items, you will have to haunt the Anthro Sale Section for Pop Backs in about a week or two. I ordered TTS for both items.

Sepia Crocus Bag - Dark Multi-Stem Shiny Laminate Tote by Orla Kiely AW08 - Anthro $178 - June 2008

I found the Malted Barely Boots by Area Forte in the October 2009 Catalog (in April 2010) on Pop Back.  They were my gateway boots to another Anthro Addiction.  It was all I could do to hold out until Fall of 2010 for the new crop of boots to appear.  I think I am satisfied with the 4 pairs I picked up in Fall Winter. What do you think of the Striped Tights in the Red Motif with this outfit?  I'm not so sure these are the perfect pair.  Although Heidi D. loves them.  I ordered the Cockle Shell Tights in Copper on Pop Back last night. I'm smitten with the bold copper color.

Another gateway item is Anthro's Sepia Crocus Bag.  Also known as Orla's Dark Stem Print Tote AW08. This bag sent me off on a wild and wonderful love for the collections from Irish born, London based, Designer Orla Kiely.  An addiction that continues to rule.

Her AW10 Collection is on sale everywhere right now.

"Heishe! Stop showing your little cat butt to the camera"  He's goofy in love with me that cat.

I hope all my East Coast Blog friends are staying warm, dry and safe today. Hopefully you took a snow day and stayed home as suggested. Please, please take care if you are cummuting to work today.  I can't imagine how much tougher daily life must be for you.

Hi Laura! I finally got access to wireless at my mother's, so I can comment again! I like the striped tights with the outfit, adds a bit more texture along with the sweater. You got great deals on those pieces! My mom took me to Anthropologie last night, but I didn't see either of those items, I had my eye out for that sweater too :(

Jewish Girl, I definitely think I can come up with a few additional outfits with the Hopi Basket Cardi.

Swati, I love the sparkle added by the Ribbon Rays Necklace.

Jess, Are you somewhere in the States? Do tell. I imagine you could try a store search for the Cardi. It's totally worth the effort.Yay for wireless, commenting, and repaired Laptops. Ha-ha!

Lorraine, Mandy got my short version for closet organization. Blogger ate my original comment. I will check back in my emails and see if I can find a copy I sent to another Reader. Send me your email.

I am Laura! I went down to visit my mother for a few days in LA. Go figure eh? I am heading home tomorrow so that won't do much good, but I did find a few goodies while here.

Jess, OMG! I am 2 hours to the North of LA. Right over the Mountain pass. Whaaaaaa! I have always wanted to meet another Anthro Blogger. Jamie was over on the coast a few weeks ago when we were getting drenched by flooding rains. But never mind that. What did you get from Anthro? I'll be at the Santa Monica Store the second weekend of March. Come back and visit your Mom then. Also, when you get a chance please send me your email address. I can't get it to come up in my mail. lauramartinsemail@yahoo.com.

Laura! I thought you were further away then that! :( well that's ok! I don't think I can come visit in march, my boss is taking paternity leave that month, I have to stay at work. But I will be back lots, I am moving down to the states this year. for sure, I will do that now :)

That shirtdress looks fabulous on you Laura. it reminds me of a burberry trench, minus the sleeves.
I had a look at the Orla K site yesteday, and I must have been living under a rock all these years, as there were so many pieces I loved!

The Hopi Basket Cardigan makes me wanna hop for joy! It's such a fun cardi. You look so happy in this outfit it's infectious. My hubby caught me smiling when I was reading your blog and he thought I was cuckoo. :)

Such a nicely coordinated Anthropologie outfit...with a F21 pricetag!!! Great deal!

Thanks for your color advice on the Trickle Down Top in green. Ordered it, wore it yesterday and love it!

Would it be possible for you to repost your example link that shows how to check the reviews on an item that is know longer shown on the anthro website?

I'm a EE by the way :)

Collette, Be careful in all that snow.

Jen, isn't OK awesome. I love her patterns and designed.

Lisa, The Hopi is so awesome. I need to come up with another excuse to wear it.

Karen, An Electrical Engineer. Send me an email, I will send you a link if you think you still need it after I tell you this. lauramartinsemail@yahoo.com. Now go to Google and search Anthropologie (the Anthro name for the item) and review. Google will bring up the link. It doesn't always work. You can then save that link to your desktop and use it by replacing with a style number for any Anthro item. let me know if you have a problem with it.
