Fem Ballerina Meets Quirky Lumberjack! The Bakersfield Fog!

I crossed my Fem Ballerina with her Rugged Side Kick today.  UPS delivered these Suede Booties last night.  I love them so much, I had to wear them today.

Normally I skip OOTD's on Tuesdays.  Everyone is usually engrossed in an Anthro Sale.  Including myself. But since there was none today, my plan worked out nicely.

Everyone should recognize the Maryam Tank by Little Blue Bird in SAND. I lost my patience a few weeks ago waiting for sale. What am I going to save?  At the most $30. IF ithe tank ever makes sale. Two colorways have already Sold Out.  I'm hoping Anthro will bless us with the Black version again. Pretty Please!

I was going for a style similar to the Anthro Outfit on the left.  I think I hit the mark in my own way.  I shopped my closet for the Maiden's Braids Cardi by Moth and the Cohort Corduroys in Lilac by Pilcro. I don't know what she's wearing on her feet.  And her pants may even be the the Cohort Corduroys.

I imagined the Upended Ankle Boots by Boutique 9.  After all, those were the inspiration for putting the outfit together.

These boots are available in one size only. So, if you think you might want these boots on Pop Back and maybe even 2nd cut a few weeks down the road, I suggest adding them to your Wish List from HERE  right now.  The October Catalog has already been overwritten by February.  They might Pop Back to the Sale Section if a few pairs are returned.  But Anthro has been scatter brained about that in the past.  Although I have noticed lately they are starting to do this more often.  And you will have the Style Number if you decide to have CS search them in store.

Most days I don't need a coat during the Winter in California.  Not true today! So meet the Heron Basket Weave Jacket by Tracy Porter I picked up for $20 last year. Also Anthro's Kennett Gloves by Portolano and the 100% Cashmere Springing Scarf by Sayami.  Because not only is it cold, but the dreaded Valley Fog has rolled in this week.

I hope everyone on the East Coast is are safe and warm today!

So cute! I think I'm just gonna have to buy that Maryam tank as well. I've tried to find similar tanks but I just can't, and it would go so well peeking out from under so many sweaters! Argh.

Btw, how many pairs of shoes have you bought this winter?

Depends what day you want to call the start of Winter. I have bought about 80 pairs of boots and shoes in 2.5 years.

I love what you did with the Maryam tank! You look great in these soft colors. Are the boots comfortable and do they run true to size?

Yes and yes on the boots. I did a full online review. May not be up on the site yet.

Fog delay!!! School kids are elated, but us working folks still have to get up and go like usual. It would be cool if you took a picture outside in the fog sometime because our valley's fog is so much different than other fog!
Cute outfit! Perfect fog delay boots! Super pretty scarf!!! Drive safe!

I tried to take a picture this morning. It didn't come out. The moisture reflects light. I will take one maybe now that it's daylight. Wow it's really already 11 pm.

Happy Tuesday, Laura! I am sad there's no sale going..but I feel relieved!

You look really cute and feminine today! Love the spring color!
I wanted the tank too! I fell in love when I saw it on catalog. And what I did was..... make something similar!
You can search my blog under "lace layer items" and you'll see!
But if it gets on sale, I might get it.. If I could afford...

Ha! We learn so much about blog friends everyday. If I had a sewing machine I could sew too. I will check out your blog to see your tank.

Yeah, I just put some lace on a tank (chemise) that I don't use! I borrowed my sister-in-low's sewing machine! It's nice to make something with a sewing machine but sometimes it's just pain in the butt!! It may be cheaper to make but easier to buy...

Yes, but sometimes I just want to hem a pair of jeans. Or take a dart or seam in. It would be awesome for simple alterations. But I'm not good enough to sew a pattern and have fun at it. I don't have enough time either. And good machines are hundreds of dollars. Nice that you can borrow a machine. I got my Macchiato Dress. Adore it. Just a little tight on the chest area. Have to be careful with the Zipper.

I initially had that tank on my wishlist after seeing Kim rock - but it was on BO for so long I lost interest and took it off! Now seeing how great you look in that piece, it is back on my wishlist! And of course it is fully stocked back now, so Anthro sure knows how to tempt me ...
1 reply · active 740 weeks ago
That must mean I'm a temptress too! Ha-ha!

Ohhh very ballerina like Laura! Loving the curtsy picture! I want to see if I can make something like that now after reading keiko's comment. I totally want to copy that catalog shot, and have a great jacket to go with it, time to track down some lace!
I love the Maryam Tank.. Now you are tempting me to get it and I rarely buy items at Anthro at FP. This one might be worth it since it doesn't seem like it's going to go on sale any time soon.
1 reply · active 740 weeks ago
Yes! I second that motion. Get the tank Diem. It's not like it's a $300 coat and your going to save $150. Although I do understand. I waited months and then suddenly just gave into temptation. Sometimes I wait months and when it hits sale I don't even want it anymore. This tank however is a year round piece.

I wish Anthro would bring back the Black. I love this one so much, I'm ready for another.

Laura, may I ask what size you ordered in the Maryam Tank? I'm so tempted to buy it now because you look so gorgeous in it ... it's on my wishlist, and it's one item that I may not wait for a sale on!! You look absolutely stunning!

I'm wearing a Small. It's TTS for me. It's so worth full price.

Oooh, the Maryam Tank is amazing!!! I'm also digging the new comment system you have going on here. Thanks for your kind words about my rough day. I'll e-mail you with the details about my skirt since I might not get to do a review before the skirt sells out on clearance.
1 reply · active 740 weeks ago
Thanks Kelly. Appreciate the skirt details. And it sucks because I'm broke for the next month. But just in case I can swing it. Please send.

I love love love the way you balanced this ultra-feminine tank with the boots. Please come plan all my outfits.

Put together a virtual closet and I would be happy to oblige.

I've been meaning to tell you about some of the photo titles on my site. I think you asked that night we were emailing back and forth. But you hadn't had any sleep. I don't actually get the item name, date, price, brand updated until I wear it in a post. When I decided to put the site together it was too much work to do it all at once. So older items or stuff I havent worn over the last 5 months, just have a slide number or a quick description.

Well I'm happy today's post is working. I had two posts. Maybe you somehow got the one I tried to delete before I copied everything into a new post. Look right under this post on the dashboard for the newer post.

My cat just crashed on my lap.

I maybe crazy to admit this Collette. But I have fun taking photos of myself at 5 am. A few stacked up stools for a tripod and my neighbors probably think there's an all nighter going on next door with every light burning in the house. So see I gotta smile!

Oh...I have been hesitating on the Maryam Tank for a few weeks now. I even had one in my hand but I decided I wanted the black more than the cream. Now of course I want both. I have a lead on some in black, I'll let you know if I find it somewhere in a Small. That scarf looks like last fall's Wriggly Wrap!
Aww Laura, this is such a pretty look on you. It's more ballerina than lumberjack :-) The tank top is so darling with the tiered lace. I was a bit sad that Anthro didn't have much of a sale this week. But not to worry, it just means more time to save! Oh and you mentioned on my blog about alligators lurking in Australian waters - SO not true. The waters are perfectly safe to swim in! Just be careful of jellyfish, stingrays and ..great white sharks... :-)
1 reply · active 740 weeks ago
Oh yeah! Sharks and stinging jelly fish are so safe Jen. I was happy there was no sale. I'm broke. Too much stuff from January. But I still want the D'armer Dress.

Aw Laura, this outfit is just beautiful. Pretty without being over the top princess-y. I love the tank with those cords!

I'm still having to approve all comments. And I have you White Listed. I'm not sure why this happening.

That's why I crossed with the Lumberjack Laura. To tone down Princess Laura.

Hmmm, I'm not sure why either. There are a few things I might suggest, based on what helped me when I had the same issue:

* Make sure you're not automatically approving comments written by users with a minimum reputation score or written by previously approved users. I think that might actually trigger the moderation mechanism to flag everyone else.
* Try removing all of the whitelisted people. I wonder if that operates in a similar way as the "automatically approve comments..." feature in that it flags the other comments
* Skim your moderation filter for common words that are okay on your blog (like "shoes" "clothes" or "shopping." "Shoes" was definitely on mine; can't remember the others.)
I removed the filter altogether. The last couple of comments I didn't have to approve. Thanks for the advice JG. I think I will see how it goes from here.
