The only thing better than Anthropologie is.......Anthropologie on Polyvore!

I must be the worst absentee Blogger on the planet.  For 5 solid days I've been glued to my PC. This is how it went.

Tuesday November 22nd

I awake to find that Anthropologie fooled us by not having a sale. I went crazy that morning and bought an entire outfit around a pair of Rachel Comey Shoes that appeared out of nowhere in the Sale Section.  It seems there is only one other person on the planet that also loves these shoes. She purchased them after I sent her the link. My dear friend Heidi. I'm a product of the 70's. At least I have an excuse. I don't know what hers is.

Yep!  I'm an enabler.

Later in the morning I asked to take a vacation day on Wednesday.  Approved.  Then I started to get sick.  Boohoo!

I went right to bed when I arrived home.

Wednesday Nov 23rd

I completely forgot about the sale and slept in late.  Strangely enough, I woke up feeling fine. Something to be Thankful for on the day before Thanksgiving. After checking the Anthro sale page, I held myself back from purchasing the Dromedary Dress. You know the one.....bright orange with large pink camels scattered about. How is it that Heidi and I can both love the Selene Clogs, while we completely disagree on the dress?

Don't be shocked.  Honestly, I don't remember what prompted me to create a Polyvore of Tuesday's purchases.

If you look carefully, you might recognize one of those Rabbits?

Later that evening this lovely from Anthro arrived.

Spotted Satchel  - by Holding Horses - Anthro Orig $258 Sale $130 - Nov 2011

Here is a shocking statement coming from me  "I adore this non Orla bag."

*******Caution:  this bag doesn't come without quirks********

Read my review and others HERE to find out what's right and wrong about the Spotted Satchel.

Thanksgiving Day

I woke up early to discover my car battery was dead. Nothing to be Thankful for there. Luckily or should I say thankfully, I managed to get a jump start.  It turned out someone (who shall remain nameless) left the dome light on.  Thankfully, the battery charged while driving around town to pick up a ham for dinner.

Birds Eye View of Thanksgiving Dinner.  Otherwise known as Map View in Geologist speak.

After dinner I spent the evening following Roxy's Anthropologie Black Friday 2011 Prep Post.  I set the alarm for 2:30 am since the expected start time was 3 am.  Then for some strange I visited Polyvore.  I created 2 possible Holiday sets for the Tangerine Flicker Dress.

First go at it produced this...

Tangerine Flicker with Diamond Plate Coat

The Coclico Odalisk's in Mallard Green and the Textured Dots Tights in Black are in transit.  I love the Taupe Bow Belt, but it's not wide enough to stay in place.  I need an alternative.  I haven't ordered the Splashdown Drops yet.

Second time around I came up with this...

Tangerine Flicker Dress with Havilland Sweater Coat

This is my favorite set. But the Great and Small Coin Purse in Owl is distracting along side the Sea Ribbons Bracelet.  I'll change it out for the Ivory Quilted Patent Iris Bag by Orla Kiely.  The Textured Dots Tights in Grey/Pink are in transit.

Black Friday

I jumped over to Anthro Online at 2:30 am to discover the sale was on. I removed a few out of stock items and checked out at 2:40 am. My entire order shipped.  However, I missed one item that would not update to the 50% off price, and another that had went out of stock the day before.

Ruled Tote in Navy - by Holding Horses - Anthro Orig $258 Sale $65 - Nov 2011
I love the Spotted Satchel, why not the Ruled Tote.  I wonder how long the wait for the Parallels Clutch will be.

Linea Cropped Cardi in Yellow - by Charlie & Robin - Anthro Orig $88 Sale $25 - Nov 2011

Linea Cropped Cardi in Navy - by Charlie & Robin - Anthro Orig $88 Sale $25 - Nov 2011
I love my Jackie Cardi's.  But sometimes too much of a good thing becomes a recurring theme.

It's a Cinch Belt in Black - Anthro Orig $54 Sale $20 - Nov 2011
I reviewed the Brown version of the It's a Cinch Belt the day the Black version came out in May.  I've been waiting 6 months for this belt to make sale.

Pattypan Squash Jar - Anthro Orig $16 Sale $5 - Nov 2011

Isn't the Patty Pan Squash Jar the cutest little trinket box on the planet?

I placed a comment on EA's In Store Community Post looking for the Textured Dots Tights in Black and a Jewelry Box.

I produced a 3rd Holiday outfit set using inspiration from a little boys Christmas Tree. Not convinced.

A lovely EAer left me a tip.  I tried the Chicago store first thing Saturday Morning.

I scored the Tights and the Enchanted Morning Jewelry Box in Bunny.

Cyber Monday

First thing in the morning I was distracted by a sale notification from Swirl.  I have a rather large credit in my Swirl account.  At the time I placed 2 orders I didn't know I could only get store credit.  Since then I haven't seen anything on sale that has been of interest. It was them I saw the Handbag sale alert, and an Orla Kiely Bag peeking out from behind the other bags.

There was only one bag.  It shipped later in the afternoon.  Then guess what I did instead of starting this post?

What was your favorite item you found up on Black Friday?

For all the Polyvore experts -
How do I search for Anthro items in Polyvore?
Can this only be done through Google Search?
I can't find that Embellishment button on the Create Page either.
Why are my clippings posting to Blogger?

I need at least 30 Followers to start an Orla Kiely Group.  Ha-Ha!  I need about 25 more.  Poo!

Oh, I REALLY like the flicker dress with the teal heels! I also like the blue and white checked coat, so I guess outfit #1 for me, though the bow belt is too casual for the dress I think, and the belt you used on the third set would be lovely!!

Your bunny seems to be a real character- poor lil kitties!

I haven't really explored what can be done with polyvore (heck, I just figured out how to cut the backgrounds...) and there must be a setting to stop it from linking always, but in the pop-up screen where you save and title a set, there is a little box at the bottom that you can uncheck so it won't post to blogger. I forget sometimes though, so I'd like to make it permanent!

The Hecate Strait Belt is wide enough to work and should stay in place even though it's not stretch. I'm hoping the Jeweled Python that went on sale today will work. So I ordered it this morning.

I must be forgetting to uncheck the Post to Blogger box. But how are clips being posted?
I love your new OK bag! It is gorgeous. The green pops of color are just perfect with the green cardigan.

I also like set #1 - the checked coat looks great with the flicker dress.

Looks like you found some great things over the weekend. I'm glad you got the tights you were looking for:) I STILL have not gotten around to playing with polyvore. One day.....

Hi Kristin,

Polyvore can sure be addicting. Maybe you shouldn't start. But at least check the Anthropologie groups for inspiration. I've even been inspired by polyvores with no Anrhro what so ever.

I'm torn between the first 2 sets. But I want to wear my Blue Harlequin Diamond Plate Coat. It's an older Leifsdottir. My first one and most favorite. I saw a used one on eBay recently. The start bid was over $200 I think. I got mine on Pop Back from Anthro for $150 over 3 years ago.
google search is probably the easiest way to find polyvore anthro items I've found- I use the images tab.... I often put polyvore in my search box to show me the already clipped items if they exist :) (and honestly, a LOT of the items are already clipped- particularly if they've been released in the last 9 months because there are a few of us faithful polyvore addicts that cruise and clip the new arrivals like you wouldn't believe ;) (yes, my account will show up a lot, because I clip before class so I can look at my leisure after class, lol).

oh, and once you get the Orla Kiely Group going, I really need to get a polyvore addicts group going..... it's long overdue. I've been late to class before because I was browsing through my past planned outfits trying to figure out what to wear for that day. /facepalm. Glad you got some good use out of your credit! (and I love the picture of the cat and bunny playing- hilarious to see the cat on top of the scratching post!)

Jamie,

That is exactly how I've been finding clipped items. But a few I can't get. Like Anthro's Beanstalk Sweatercoat by Leifsdottir. That one is driving me batty. It's a long green cable knit sweater. I know Nordstroms also had it in Brown, but I don't know that name.
ah, sometimes I clip from blogs too if they had posted the image of the item and I can't find it any other way- is this the sweater in question?
http://denimdreams-denimdreaming.blogspot.com/p/i...

(I found it, but it was on photobucket, saved the file and uploaded it to my blog, just got finished clipping it for you- it should be on polyvore now :) )
Yes! Yes! Yes! That is my sweater. You have made me so happy. What is your Polyvore user name?

Thank you!
denimdreaming :) you already follow me (and vice versa) so I should be easy enough to find.
Excellent. I rarely recognize the Polyvore names and associate them to Bloggers and Readers. I checked out Members of the Anthro Groups for the first time over the weekend. It took me awhile to even find the Groups. Most are already members of all four Groups.
Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday/Black Friday/Cyber Monday with lots of great finds!

I like the second set with the Tangerine Flicker dress, and I don't think the Sea Ribbons bracelet is too distracting at all!
1 reply · active 696 weeks ago
Kelly,

I love the Sea Ribbons with the dress. It was the owl pouch I thought was just too much detail with the Sea Ribbons Bracelet. Especially since they are in close proximity to each other.

I think I'm going to have a difficult time making the final call for my Holiday outfit.
Google search is the easiest--just add polyvore to the search box. When you click on the "publish" button for a set, there will be a check box that says "quick share with friends"--same goes for when you clip items.

Great finds! I'm really dying to get the Whipstitched Boots which weren't cancelled on me, but they weren't shipped either...

Terrie,

What is the quick share with friends? I've seen it in the Post to Blog Menu. I have been using copy/paste then adding the HTML code to the post.
When you create a set in polyvore, you hit "publish" so it will publish to your polyvore profile--in that box where you type in the title, group, tags, etc. there is a check box to post to your blog. Also, when you clip items from websites, just under the item tags there is a little check box to select if you want to "share" the clipped item with friends, in which case it will post the clipped items to your blog.
OK! I got it now. Thank you Terrie!
Looks like you had a ton of fun with Polyvore! I can't wait to see your reviews of the Selene Clogs! I noticed, too, when they magically appeared in the sale section and fought hard not to buy it since they were only $99. I ended up not buying because if they didn't fit, I wouldn't have $99 dollars sitting waiting to be returned. I don't have an Anthro near me and I don't like return shipping. I'll just wait for your excellent reviews!

E&J,

I have the exact same problem. Nearest Anthro is a 2 hour drive. I figured if Coclico, Chie Mihara, and Argila all need one half size up, than Rachel Comey are likely the same. They are all part of the same European Shoe Consortium. I will bet you can find those shoes at Coclico.com if you can't find them at Anthro later. I noticed they sold out very fast last Tuesday. Perhaps they only had a few pairs in each size. I never did check to see what the stock numbers were since I ordered them immediately.
aww I love your anthro + bunny polyvore! hehe. as for the polyvore sets, my favorite is the second set..although i keep going back and forth between first & second. hmm.
I'm still trying not to think about the Spotted Satchel since I passed up on it during black friday (it would've destroyed my budget!) eep. I also wanted to get the tights in both colors but they were thinner than I thought it would be..and there were already snags and slight tears. it's probably a bad batch since they were the leftovers from the wednesday's sale. No doubt, it'll be a fun, versatile piece though :) ooh and I hope you enjoy the jewelry box! It's just as cute irl : )

Hi Shan,

I'm hoping I can make it through one party without tearing those tight. The SA promised to send me the best pair from the Chicago store. I can actually fix snags if there aren't too many. You just snip with scissors and tie in a knot.

The stores still had Spotted Satchels on Black Friday didn't they? It was sold out online. I knew there wouldn't be any left online. And I knew I wouldn't be able to call and get one from a store. What a deal for that bag regardless of the quirky closure. I'm not unhappy with the 1/2 price I paid for it. Not at all. Im very sorry to hear you couldn't get one for yourself.

I can't wait to see the Enchanted Morning Jewelry Box. It's my starter piece for a Bunny Collection. I hope they package it up carefully so it doesn't get broken.
Love the outfit set with the Havilland Sweater coat, but also with the roses jacket (can't remember the exact name). You are going to have a hard choice to make :)

Hi Jess,

I think the Cloaked in Roses will be too puffy to wear with a full skirt. I'm leaning toward the Mallard Blue with the Diamonds Coat and the Diamond tights. I finally bought the Slashdown drops in Blue this morning and the Jeweled Python Belt that just hit sale.
The diamond coat is really pretty, I am sure it will be fantastic all together :)
I love the first Polyvore set for the Tangerine Flicker Dress. The coat is gorgeous.
I think my best purchase for BF was the Galah dress for $25. I need to take it to a seamstress and get the top sewed up so it doesn't lay open. Otherwise, nice dress for a great price.
I've tried using Polyvore but always get frustrated. I think I need a class.
Hope you are well.

I'm great. I couldn't believe it when I saw the Bowed Lacerta's went on sale.

I just know some of the ladies are going to be frustrated when they receive defective pairs.

For $25 it's more than worth it to have the dress tailored to fit.

I'm great with the editing part. I've already got a good 75% of my closet in there. But all my Etsy jewelry will never get there.

I'm fine! Thanks for asking. I'm just frustrated and overworked at my paying job right now. At least I have one. Not that I consider that a consolation.

I hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving. Sure hope we will have a chance to see each other and go shopping at anthro again.
I made a polyvore account. That's as far as I've gotten. Ha, ha.

I so get your hunt for the perfect belt for your outfit. I got a few great things during the B.F. sale, but my greatest regret was passing on a couple of belts I'd had in my Wishlist for ages. My husband talked me out of buying them, but men just don't understand the importance of a great belt! Yes, I already have MANY belts, but each is unique in its own way. ugh! They were 50% off sale, I'm an idiot. :)

I always enjoy the "pet family" updates -- my husband too. He just yanked my iPad away to check out the cats hangin' with Nefi.
1 reply · active 696 weeks ago
Shame on you for passing up 50% off belts in a store. You can never have enough belts. The cheaper it was the more I will use and need it. I think I've worn my $10 pop back Palisades belt every week for the last month.

Yep! I have one alien, a half wild tame Bun and a mountain goat. The family Circus. Ha-ha! Your hubby did not grab your iPad to see that. I know your pulling my leg.
Hi Laura! I'm a new follower :) I love how you styled the tangerine flicker dress!! I love the light blue jacket with the orange...so darling!!
That rabbit polyvore is by far the best polyvore I have ever seen! Also super cute is your lookout tower cat! Your other polyvores are great too!
1 reply · active 696 weeks ago
Thanks Jennifer. I do enjoy Polyvore. Those animals of mine are one big circus act.
I love the Selene clogs. I had a pair of copper/almost bronze color sandels this summer and found they went with most everything.
1 reply · active 696 weeks ago
It's good to know someone else loves them besides myself and
my friend Heidi. They sold out fast the same day they appeared online. I wonder if they were available in stores.
You are one classy lady, Laura! Love all the outfits you pulled together! And thanks for the review on the polka dot satchel! Very helpful considering I don't have an Anthro store around and can't try these things out! =)
1 reply · active 696 weeks ago
Kristina,

I'm in the same boat with you.The nearest store is a two hour drive.

The Polka Dotted Satchel was a risk worth taking. The little glitches are endearing. Carried the bag all week. It actually looks best with more stuff in it.

So far the gold finished metal hardware, handle and straps are holding up. I did notice a tiny scratch on the leather. I'm not sure if I did that, or it was already there.
I need that satchel...now! haha. It's super cute.
