It's a Coat! It's a Dress! It's a Sweater! My Very First Polyvore on Anthroholic!

No, it's the kooky, outrageous Panneled Sweatercoat by liaMolly! I'm wearing it as a dress.  Heidi loved mine so much she bought one later on eBay. You can view Anthro's outfit that includes the Sweatercoat in the Sept 2008 Catalog HERE.

Panneled Sweatercoat - by liaMolly - Anthro Orig $198 Sale $100 - Oct 2008
Striped Tights Red Motif - by Eloise - Anthro Orig $18, Sale $10 - Apr 2010
Coracle Necklace - Anthro Orig $58 Sale $30 - May 2008

Even the size Small is too big for me.  I took in the Belt in back to tighten it up a little.  The sleeves are 6 inches too long, so I have to roll them up.  Which in turn hides the button detail.

It's cute, and I get compliments every time I wear it.  This year I updated the Brown Opaque Tights I normally wear, with Anthro's Striped Tights in Red Motif by Eloise.  The Lexington Candy T Straps by Miss L Fire have always suited this outfit.  No need for a change there.  And the Coracle Necklace is the worst electroplated Anthro piece I have ever seen. None the less, it actually looks cool turned Black. It was part of the very first online purchase I made from Anthro.

The Orla Kiely Handbag in Ink adds a splash of color to the outfit.  I'm ready to hit the door running.

PerriBerri (formerly known as OhBabyAustin) is a great place to watch for sales on Orla Kiely.
ILoveOrla is another. See my Right Side Bar for additional Orla Kiely links.

Thank goodness for Anthro's Reversible Tank.  The Sweater tends to ride low in the neckline. I've tried to wear this with something underneath.  It doesn't work.  The buttons down the front are actually snaps.  The sweater looks ridiculous open.  So why layer it.

Do you have an item of clothing that you wear in a different way than it was intended for? Tell me about it.  I saw the amazing Collete of Statements in Fashion wearing a skirt as a blouse.

Don't forget to visit Kim at Anthroholic and use the Polyvore Mini Editor to enter the Anthropologie Contest.  I created my very first Polyvore yesterday, then proceeded to make 5 more. I was surprised at how fun it was, but also difficult since you are limited to 100 Anthro items.

Great tights and outfit!

Right now I'm on a kick with wearing dresses as skirts. I always feel so proud of myself when I come up with different combinations like that!

Cute sweater/dress Laura. What really captures my attention are your shoes + tights combo. They are so very awesome :) Hmmm I am pretty bad at the wearing something for different purposes... maybe a dress as a skirt, but that is about it?

Kelly, You should be proud. The last post you did was amazing. Iv'e tried the dress as a skirt. I always look lumpy.

Ali, Thank you for the comps.

Jess, I can't seem to make the dress and a skirt thing work. Did you start working on your Cascading Tulle Cardi. Don't forget to Post the final. I can't wait to see how my instructions worked for your Cardi.

Peggy, Not on my life! I love them all!

Oh! I love items that can have multiple uses. The shoes and tights together are so beautiful! The blue Orla Kiely bag is a such a gorgeous little thing. I'd love to own an Orla something one day.
I usually like to wear my dresses as skirts by putting on a cardi on top. Also, I have the chilled ripples cardi, and i tend to wear it under cardis but take the ruffles out, so that it looks like a ruffled cardi!

Laura, I LOVE how you've used this sweatercoat as a dress! You look adorable!!! And I ADORE your tights and the heels with it! All of the warm grays and browns and reds are just divine!! I may be partial to sweatercoats (I could live in them), but this outfit/picture shoot is now in my top five favs that you've ever created. The colors are gorgeous on you, and you're just smiling so cutely ... I'm in love with this one! Perfection, Laura!! :)

I have definitely started to wear lots of dresses as blouses and dresses as skirts, recently -- something that i never did until I saw it on other bloggers. I really like that you wore a sweater coat as a dress -- If the Splendid Vinca had worked any better for me, I might have tried that.

Years ago, I had a shapless Banana Republic tube dress that made me look like I was 8 mos. pregnant with twins. Not the desired effect, especially for a college kid. So I turned it into an ankle-length skirt. I donated it, but I kind of wish I had kept it now...very pretty silk number...

And your shoes are amazing -- love the mix of brown tones!
