 No Anthro Zone Reviews:

The Brass Band Sweater - Brand Unknown - Anthro $118

Brass Band Sweater - Brand Unknown - Anthro $118 - Dec 2010

Let's start with a review, since I haven't posted one in ages.  Everything I have ordered lately has gone out of stock before I received my order.  This particular item is one of theanthropologieconnoissuer's picks for the Perthshire Dress.  See her post and outfit suggestions HERE.

The details alone make this a great LBS (little black sweater).

SIZE: I ordered my normal size Small for Sweaters and Cardi's. I'm 5' 5.5" tall, 125 lbs, narrow across shoulders, slightly shorter than average arms.

FIT: TTS to slightly big. I love how this sweater fits. It's flattering in all directions. The sleeves aren't tight or too long. The waistline comes in a little on the high side, so may not work for those over 5'7". It reminds me of a Tuxedo Jacket. What you don't see in the Product Image is the tie belt. There are also belt loops. I have another belt in transit to belt over the Sweater.

Brass Band Sweater - Brand Unknown - Anthro $118 - Dec 2010

I didn't capture the most flattering angle with this profile image.

DETAILS: There are two front hooks. The Product Image appears to have only one hook. The collar lays flat. The buttons look like metal, but are plastic. So they don't droop with too much weight. The front placket is actually folded over, and Hallelujah for pockets. I love the open neckline for showing off a fab dress or necklace. Extra thread and button included.

FABRIC: 100% Wool. Hand Wash. Very Soft. No itch at all. I don't think it will pill. I wore the sweater over a dress outside with no coat in the 50's and was warm.

Note: The tag on this sweater is a whopping 3.5 x 8.5", with an Oriental scene. It's not familiar to me. I will remove it since one side was already off. There is not a Brand, Designer or Label name anywhere on it. I called CS and was told that the spec sheet contained no designer name. The sweater is made in China.

I recommend this sweater with 5 stars. However some reviews claimed that the bottom of the sweater added bulk. I didn't have an issue with this.

Graphic Rose Tights - by Anna Sui - Anthro $20

Graphic Rose Tights - by Anna Sui - Anthro $20 - Dec 2010

Hurry and grab a pair of these awesome tights.  They fit TTS.  And the price is fantastic for Anna Sui.  Just a hint of leg shows through, making the Rose pattern a stand out in a crowd of otherwise ordinary Black Opaque Tights.

I did notice the upper leg a bit tight when I first put them on, but that disappeared almost immediately.  I wore mine all night to my Company Christmas Party.  They held up well.

Odd that the instructions say Machine Wash.  I toss all my tights in a Delicate Wash Bag and throw them in the Washing Machine on Gentle Cycle and hang dry.  They hold up for years.

My Company Holiday Party was held at the "Buck Owens Crystal Palace."  A change of venue from the last 5 years at the much preferred Petroleum Club. Despite having lived in Bakersfield, CA for most of my life, I'm not a fan of Country Western, the famous Bakersfield Sound, Buck and Bonnie Owens, or Merle Haggard.  Believe it or not, my BF was dry when he took these slightly blurry images.  Not so much as one drink. Yet!

Here I am!  All gussied up and Anthro'd out...
(gussied up - dressing in one’s finery for some special occasion. It is usually considered to be an American expression, dating from the late 1930's)

Standing in the street under the famous Bakersfield Arch.  OK it's a hideous Neon Sign on an old foot bridge.  It used to be located on old FRW 99 downtown. Buck Owens (died Mar 25, 2006) bought the sign and had it moved when he built the Palace and his KUZZ studios directly next door.

Yeehaa!
(yeehaa - exclamation of abandonment when commencing some exciting activity; 2. used ironically to denote that one is not excited (originally US; the exultant cry of the US cowboy)

I'm about to be rounded up and sent to the Old Hoosegow!

Laura--You look fantastic! The first photo of you and your boyfriend is absolutely darling. Your best accessory? That smile you are wearing. Plum is really your color! I love what you did with the Cascading Tulle Cardi and how you wore the chartreuse scarf with it.

Wow, you look incredible! Love that dress, and Tien is right about plum being such a good color for you!

I was so crazy about that Cascading Tulle cardigan last year. I'm glad you got it -- it looks wonderful!

You look adorable and oh so happy! The dress is so so pretty on you!

Tien, The Cardi was too warm to wear indoors. I really just needed the scarf to cover me up and make me feel more secure.

Chrissy, This really isn't a color I wear very often. I tend to shy away from Pink, Red, Purple, and Burgundy. I was always told those colors were best on darker hair and complexion.

Elizabeth, Then you will appreciate my next Party Dress. I will wear Anthro's Moonlight Briar Dress by Anna Sui to my Team Luncheon on my Birthday.

Mandy, We did have a grand time. Stayed up late, ate and drank too much, and even danced.

Olyvia, I wore this outfit to my BF's party last year. So it went to mine this year.

Great to see Laura all dressed up! You look amazing and oh-so-glam! The dress is such a stunning colour on you.
thank you for the review of the brass band sweater. It looks like the most perfect fit ever. It doesn't add bulk at all. And being black, it makes you look very streamlined.

Lady Cardigan, The Cascading Tulle Cardi was a huge Pain in the Butt. My friend and I worked on it last year and I tried again this year. I'm still not completely happy with how it looks in front. But it fits much better than it did before alterations. I felt like Anthro pulled one over on everyone that bought it.

Dea, I fell for Ruffian after this dress. I ordered several more items, but all were returned. I'm afraid my love affair with Ruffian was a one night stand.

Tien is absolutely right -- you are glowing in this pictures. Love the shots of you and the BF. You are one dashing couple!

And this plum confection of a dress is just darling. I especially love it with the Juicy Blooms scarf. Too bad Anthro scarves don't end up on Ebay that often, or I'd be searching desperately!

And those booties add just the right amount of country to keep you kicking with all the Bakersfield locals : )

Aw Laura, you look wonderful! So does your date :) I think the three times booties look great with the dress, more so with were your event was held. I have yet to tackle the cardigan, got called into work on my day off, so it has to wait a few more days hehe. I think that colour is also great on you! Reminds me of a fairytale princess or something.
