Bunny Boudoir - Beating Return Regrets

Nefi has been pronounced a healthy, 8 month old female. Which means I wasn't far off the mark in thinking she was someones Easter Bunny that they later discarded.  How sad is that?  I often wonder if they regret leaving her to fend for herself in that parking lot for several months.

Nefi's Bunny Boudoir Pose

My Bunny unfortunately hasn't been spayed.  Female Rabbits need to be spayed to...
1.  Prevent cancer.
2.  Curtail territorial marking.
and
3. Improve the chance of successful litter box training.

Ha-ha! Nefi has already accomplished 2 and 3. I made an appointment next week to satisfy 1.

Since I commonly view expenditures in terms of Anthro Dollars, the price of Nefi's surgery is equal to...

Anthro's Spotted Satchel - by Holding Horses - $268
Nefi is priceless.

Besides, this bag isn't an Orla Keily.  I will repeat this in the hopes I can eventually convince myself that I don't want it.

I couldn't be more proud of my little Half Wild Bunny. Nefi hasn't had an accident in over a week.  Several days ago I hesitantly removed the barriers that kept her out of the area behind her cage. The minute the barrier was gone, she ran back and forth behind the cage, and celebrated with happy go lucky Binkies.

Binkies are twists, leaps and hops, followed by super fast fits, often accompanied by wild head gyrations, that occasionally lead to bouncing off walls, furniture, and fellow inhabitants both feline and human alike.

No more blotting wet stains, while hoping around wearing one old shoe, being  careful that the shoe used to blot never comes in contact with unaffected carpet. No more stepping over vinegar saturated wet spots, liberally coated with baking soda.  No more waiting two days to vacuum up white mounds that seem to grow when your back is turned. No more scent of sour vinegar permeating the bedroom and bath.

Occasional accidents are to be expected and will be tolerated.

We are now a three litter box household. One box for two cats, and two boxes for one Bunny.

I celebrated with a few carefully executed Binkies myself.

Ajisai Dress - by Caligraphy Artist Sariah Carson - Anthro Orig $138 Sale $40 - Oct 2011
Reversible Tank in Black V neck side - by Eloise - Anthro $24 - 2009
High Gloss Belt in Sky - Anthro $28 - Apr 2011
Jackie Cardigan in Black - by J Crew - $62 - May 2011
Opaque Tights in Green - by Hue - Anthro Orig $12.50 Sale $7 - Feb 2011
Anthro Orig $398 Sale $200 - Oct 2011
Sepia Crocus Bag - by Orla Kiely AW08 - Anthro $178 - July 2008
A Rose is a Rose Earrings - by Etsy Shop Magillie $18 - March 2009

The Anjisai Dress was a collaboration between Calligraphy Artist Sariah Carson and Anthropologie. The color palette and simple floral design is appealing and unique. The negatives include Rayon fabric, a lack of pockets, and a strange fitting bodice.

The dress runs large, so I ordered a size 4. Normally I'm a six in most Anthro brands.  Several reviewers reported the bodice ran large.  Ha-ha! My hopes quickly dissolved the minute I pulled the dress from the package.  I knew it was too skimpy to cover the girls.  I ironed the dress without even trying it on. Which signifies I planned to work with it at some point.

Despite reviews that suggested layering a tank under the dress would distract from it's appearance, I woke up Tuesday morning ready to make a go of the Anjisai. I layered Anthro's Reversible Seamless Tank in Black with the V-neck to the front. As luck would have it, the 4 fit like a glove through the bodice. If it had been larger, the sides would have drooped, and the dress would have been a sure fire return.   I had to zip and then shimmy in the hard way.

In my opinion, the addition of the tank gives the dress dimension at the neckline. At the same time the girls are fully covered.

For Fall, I added pops of Blue with a skinny belt (similar here) and earrings (similar here).  I chose Green Tights that would blend with the dress (similar here).  I then layered a Black Cardigan over top (J Crew Jackie here).  I was surprised how easily the outfit came together.

Anthro Orig $398 Sale $200 - Oct 2011
I must confess, I wasn't smitten by these Chie Mihara's until they went on sale.  When they arrived I immediately tried them on.  They are incredibly comfortable. The toe box has a bit more room than most closed toe CM's.  Perfect for the wider front of my foot. This heel base is by far my favorite.  The shoes in side view are a show stopper.  But from my vantage point, the top view didn't cut it for me.  The toe was more rounded than I like. The shoe laces appear messy and hide the cute wrap over strap and buckle.  I immediately placed them in the closet, then proceeded to ignore my mixed feelings for two weeks.

To Lace or Not to Lace
The same morning I wore the Anjisai, I decided to return the Walthamstows. But not before trying them on again one last time.

The only thing worse than buyers remorse is a case of return regret.

I stared at those wonderfully comfortable heels with the unappealing laces.  I wasn't going to wear shoes based solely on comfort. From the top, all I saw were ugly black lace-ups.

Ha-ha! There was my solution. Right there under those messy black laces were the shoes I envisioned.  Removing them in no way compromised the comfortable fit.

I walked to the far reaches of the park to take photo's. No regrets! Absolutely adore the Walthamstows aka Chie Mihara's Fenomenos.

If you find a pair, don't hesitate, whether you prefer to lace or not to lace.

No Anthro Zone Review: Tupelo Dress by Maple with Nightshades Heels by Chie Mihara

Anthropologie's Tupelo Dress admired by Heishe
Maple - $168 - August 2011
This must be an exceptional dress to attract the admiration of Heishe.  Really though, what he is trying to tell me is, he needs a good scratch (he hates to be brushed) and some kitty treats.

See Heishe admire the Mompos Dress HERE and the Powdered Pigment Dress HERE
two Tracy Reese Dresses that Heishe found fascinating

NO ANTHRO ZONE REVIEW - The Tupelo Dress by Maple $168
Shop the Tupelo Dress HERE

Who doesn't love Cobalt Blue Silk and a Ruched Sweet Heart Neckline?  The urge to splurge was made even stronger when combined with Anthro's Free Shipping and Return Promo through September.  I'm not feeling as left out while stuck in My No Anthro Zone.

Anthropologie's Tupelo Dress  - by Maple - $168 - August 2011

If you guessed that my hair is a mess and I'm not wearing make-up, you are absolutely correct.

SIZE: I'm normally a 6 on top and a 4 on the bottom. Most size 6 dresses will fit great through the chest, but run large through the waist and hips. I'm a 34C to D, 5'5" Tall, 130 lbs, 35-28-36, narrow from shoulder to shoulder. I ordered a size 4 from online.  It was Bonnie's review (Small Town Fashionista) of the Tupelo Dress that helped make the correct sizing decision.

FIT: The elastic back panel makes it possible to size down to a 4 to fit my smaller lower half, and still have the space and comfort of a 6 on top. The hemline hits at the knee. The waist is slightly high. Nothing a belt can't solve in Gold, Bright Orange, Red, Brown, or Navy to Blend. I usually wear a Full Coverage Bra, plus my shoulders are narrow so bra straps show at the neckline and in back. For work I will wear a Cardi, or try one of Anthro's Seamless Reversible Tanks under the dress.

Many online Reviewers had the same bra strap issues.  Many did not.  I assume it depends on the style of bra you wear, or if you are narrow across the shoulders as I am.  I plan to purchase a Demi Bra and give that a try.  I don't own one since I find that the girls tend to fall out the front.

FABRIC: 100% Silk Shell. Dry Clean. I didn't find the Silk to look or feel cheap.  The Bold, Colorful Print is flawless. The dress is fully lined in Poly, which helps keep the price of the dress down. I'm a firm believer in wearing thin shorts under my dresses in the Summer.  The shorts land a few inches above my knee, keep my legs from the sticking together, keep me dry and comfortable, while protecting my dresses from perspiration stains.  Which in turn keeps the dry cleaning bill almost nil.

Shop my Modcloth shorts HERE
Available in Four Colors
Ivory and Black are Out of Stock

Pockets are a plus. The dress was covered with wrinkles that didn't easily press out. My short arms didn't have a problem with the side zip. I easily slipped the dress over my head with the back hooked.

Style year round. Dress up or down. Evening out or to Work with a Cardi. Flat Sandals for Spring/Summer. Tights with Brown Boots in Fall/ Winter.

No Anthro Zone Review - The Nightshade Heels by Chie Mihara in Navy $438 - Gulp!!!!!!!!!!

The Nightshades Heels are Out Of Stock at Anthro.  Ped Shoes has the Navy version along with Red, for the same price HERE.

I've already protected the Suede on my newest insane infatuation. When the Nightshades appeared, they were immediately Wish Listed. When I later turned attention to my Fall shoe needs, I discovered my dream shoe in Navy was Sold Out.

Along came Miss Albrights Lake and Land Heels.  An alternatice to the Nightshades that would satisfy a need for Navy. The Lake and Land Heels arrived and were perfect. Then the unthinkable dilemma occurred. Later that night, the Nightshades popped back into my Wish List.

The answer was obvious...I was about to blow my entire Budget on the Nightshades, and return the Lake and Land Heels to offset the cost.  A mighty good deal all around.

SIZE: Most of my open toed Chie's are 38.  Anthro suggested sizing up one 1/2 size. Cheers to Anthro for getting that right. As luck would have it, the Pop Back was a 38.5.  It was a sign that I was meant to have them.  I could have ordered them from Ped Shoes.  But I did recently commit to shop Anthro exclusively, whenever possible?

The Gleaming Pillars Bracelet in Purple - by Kenneth Jay lane - Anthro Orig $199 Sale $20 - Aug 201
I love my Bejeweled Bee Ring by Kenneth Lane.  Imagine my surprise to discover the Gleaming Pillars Bracelet is by one in the same.  The original price was an unthinkable $198.  I realized the other day that the Bracelet came out in the August 2010 Catalog.  This has been waiting in my Wish List for over a year.  I picked it up for the bargain 3rd cut price of $20.  Granted it's resin, and the gold paint scratches, and it's held together with stretch cord.  It's also super comfortable and totally eye catching.  Wish I had all three colors.

I had to throw this in somewhere.  The Gleaming Pillars is Sold Out.  You can stalk the Product Page HERE.

Back to the Nightshades....

INCIDENTALS: Everything you expect from Chie Mihara. Designed with comfort and style first. Padded foot bed. Spacious Toe Box. The softest leather and suede lining. Finished on the bottom with Non-Skid soles. Enough heel height to give a boost, while allowing maximum comfort from a hidden platform.

SUEDE: Soft, rich, and of the highest quality imaginable. The color is Black in Bright Sunlight. In low light Navy, or even Dark Teal.

DETAIL: Petals of Leather reminiscent of Calla Lilies. At the center a snippet of round leather cord, textured in Shimmering Blue.

Anthro's Nightshades by Chie Mihara - Teapot and Cups imprinted on onsole - Aug 2011

But wait...an unexpected surprise adorns the foot bed! What's this? A redesigned insole?  The Leather has been imprinted with....hold it.... Vintage Tea Pots and Coffee Cups.

For the moment, my shoe collection was complete. Then Anthro struck again with the Bowed Lacerta Mary Janes by Miss Albright. I'll have no Fall Dress money left at this rate.

In my opinion, this item fairly reflects the higher price tag.  As a responsible, gainfully employed, single woman, with no back taxes or credit card debt, I am therefore able and willing to pay such a price!

This last message was brought to you because a few individuals that have designated themselves the shopping police.  You know who you are.

Just one more Anthro Sale item to gloat over, I mean discuss with you.

The Quazar Necklace - by Gilda Grey - Anthro orig $398 Sale $100

The Quazar Necklace by Gilda Grey didn't make it to my Wish List until I discovered that it wasn't selling at the $200 price tag on 1st cut.  When it made 2nd cut to $100 I made off with it.  Now Sold Out. You can stalk the Page for Pop Backs HERE.

This necklace is Enchanting.  The work of Sorcery and Wizards. The design is intricate, pretty, and eye catching without making an "in your face" statement.  Reminiscent of drawings made on a Spirograph. If you are old enough to remember the plates and wheels drawing kit.  The Necklace is light weight, comfortable, perfectly proportioned, and fuss free.

The color combination is versatile and will easily style year round.

The style is similar to Steam Punk Jewelry (examples HERE) only delicate.  Usually made from bits and pieces of discarded machinery and metal.  Not something that has ever appealed to me until now.

How about those crazy 2nd and 3rd cuts?  Do you like them?  Or do you normally tend to stay clear of those reductions, believing the item must not be worth attention?  Sometimes that is completely true.

If you are a blogger:  Have you received any comments meant to ridicule lately?  It appears that stupidity and petty jealously are on the rise.

Playing Catch-up in Broken Vintage Anthro Shoes! Don't Wear The Love Out!

Outfit One is today's OOTD.  I'm wearing the Graphical Dress as a skirt.  See my First and Second styling for this dress HERE and HERE.  These are old Posts.  And the first time I let a family member take my photos. I do my own photography on a daily basis.  Or can you tell?  Ha-ha!

It turns out that my photographer Kris and I both purchased the Parading Hues Dress from Yesterday's Anthro Sale.  I think we are on the same wave length. See her new Blog HERE.

I bought this dress in August of last year. I had just begun this Blog a few weeks previous. It was the first time I followed a Tuesday morning sale on Effortless Anthropologie. I used a Vacation Day for this. What fun too stay up all night and connect with other Anthro Addicts.  I couldn't believe my good fortune.

Katie (Anthro Yogi)  recognized me as GeoInCalifornia Anthro Reviewer and came gallantly to my rescue when I questioned the community about the fit of the Graphical.  You can see our guess was correct. It was at that moment I began to realize what a blessing the Anthro community is.

The Left shoe is missing a Flower
Anthro's Port-To-Port Heels are the second pair of shoes I purchased from Anthro the Summer of 2008.  Not long after that, the Hibiscus Flower on the left shoe broke off.  I was devastated!  I contacted Miss L Fire in Europe to get a replacement Flower.  No such luck!

Follow The World of Miss L Fire HERE.

Port-To-Port Heels - by Miss L Fire - Anthro Orig $158 Sale $80 - July 2008

You can imagine my distress when I realized this morning that the Gold Painted Shell was missing from my Left Shoe.  I re-traced my steps to an office where I had attended an early morning meeting.  And there it was, lying under a table.  I was so happy I immediately went to Heidi's office to show her my little treasure.  Once lost.  Now found. Heidi has the same pair of shoes (2007) with a light house on the back of the heel.  She gets it!

I would love to hear about that, and what did you get from the Red Tag Sale?

Anthro's Briny Winds Jacket by We Love Vera Takes a Spring Break! Sale Rumor?

I have no excuse for being MIA for almost a week.  Today's Post is brought to you by the always wonderful Pamela of Ginger Girl. Pamela and I share a love of all things Orla Kiely.  Last week she asked about sizing for Anthro's Briny Winds Jacket by We Love Vera.  Which reminded me that I have not yet worn the Jacket this Spring.

Briny Winds Jacket - by We Love Vera - Anthro Orig $128 Sale $70 - May 2009
Molded and Melded Tee - by C Keer - Anthro Orig $48 Sale $29 - Jan 2011

Sun and Sky Bracelet - Esty Shop L Rose Designs $58 Russian Ammonozite and Yel Quartz on Sterling - Apr 2009
A Rose Is A Rose Earrings - by Etsy Shop Magillie $18 - March 2009
I hadn't realized that my High Gloss Belt in Blue was showing below the Jacket until I saw these photos.  I immediately removed the belt.  Another great reason to take photos of yourself.  You can instantly see your outfit mistakes.

More Trial and Error with the SLR.  If my last images were too dark, these are too light.  I did finally find the reset button.  Photos come out very nice everywhere but my living area.  Just look at the photo of my new Chie Mihara's taken in the yard.

Corn Lane Slingbacks - by Chie Mihara - Anthro $388 - May 2011
I'm still crying that these shoes didn't make sale in time to claim a price adjustment.  But really just a tear now and again.

Wicked and Hot!  What gal doesn't need some of that in her closet.

Wingspan Brooch - by Chilean Artist Chantal Bernsau - Anthro Orig $98 Sale $50 - Nov 2009
A Rose Is A Rose Earrings - by Etsy Shop Magillie $18 - March 2009

I was a total fan of Chantal Bernsau's horsehair art jewelry.  I was a bit disappointed to find out that Anthro's Wingspan Brooch was not constructed of horsehair. I believe it's plastic of some sort.  Of course I can no longer find the screen shot I kept of the original Product Page. I won't cry over it, because I think it was the perfect choice for a shoulder Garnish with Anthro's Briny Winds Jacket.

The very funny unplanned accessory in this photo is the well placed curly hair stuck to the front of my Jacket just below the large top button.  By the time I saw this little miscreant in the photo it was gone.  Who forgot to make a mirror check yesterday morning?  Me!  Did I forget to mention this is yesterday's OOTD.  Today I am wearing my Green De Armee Dress.

Now for something really dark.  I was playing with flash setting and modes yesterday.  As if you didn't already guess that.  Ha-ha!

I have nothing but deep down abiding love for my over sized Shiny Leather Caraway Bag in Mauve by Orla Kiely.

Memorial Weekend is finally here.  I'm so jazzed.  Remember, I hinted that something special was coming.  Hee-hee!  I'm meeting that very special person tomorrow afternoon for the first time.  I'm so exited I want to scream.  I made all the arrangements.  The perfect location has been found and we have permission to be there first thing Saturday morning.  And the weather in Bako is simply gorgeous and cool.  Your dieing to know what it is aren't you?

Zip! That's me shutting my big mouth.

First time making a Blog appearance is, Anthro'sSavoy Slingbacks by Chie Mihara.  I fell in love when I saw these in the June 2008 Catalog.  I waited months for them to hit Anthro's Sale Page, only to be broke.  It was tragic. Not being a savvy online shopper yet, I was sure all hope was lost. Then one day I was cruising Nordstrom when I realized they carried Chie's. And there they were. My long lost Savoy Slingback's.  The very last pair. In my size 38. At an astounding 70% off.  I could afford that.  I didn't mind when they arrived in a plain White shoe box.  I didn't so much as flinch when I couldn't wear them for 5 months.  After all, it was the middle of December.  I still love them.  I still wear them.

You all know my very first Orla Kiely.  Anthro's Sepia Crocus Bag AW08.  I still consider Anthro the birthplace for Orla, Chie and Leifsdottir.  I was so excited when Roxy Announced that Leifsdottir is returning as an exclusive Anthro Brand. I can't wait till June to see what's in store for this exciting label.

I think I almost fell over in this photo.  I was actually trying to get out of the way of the dozen or more citizens that comb the park at 6 AM for recyles.  Some even graciously picking up trash dropped by Litter Bugs.  Something I tend to do myself if possible. Not Litter! But actually pick up trash!

Here is a quick run through from the TOP Down.

Anthro's Spotlights Tank by RicRac was picked up in the Monterey Ca Store last year.  Heidi ran the Big Sur 21 mile Marathon.  The one with the Grand Piano at the bottom of a steep grade, and a Pianistperched, playing the Piano.   At the same time Christine was pulling a 5K.  I waited at the finish for both my friends, a former runner myself.

You can still shop my Ribbed Waist Cotton Cardifrom the Gap HERE.  This Cardi is exceptional and cheap.  TTS, high quality combed Cotton that doesn't stretch out. Anthro's High Gloss Belt is in stock and available in three colors, and all sizes, except Yellow HERE. Anthro's Days Off Skirt is now sold out in Navy.

Anthro's Tippi Dress - by Anna Sui - Anthro Orig $268 Sale $130 - May 2011

Now for some awesome Tippi Success Stories.

Jesspgh of Consume or Consumed scored her Tippi Dress from Reader Melanie

A few minutes later Jess informed me that Melanie scored a dress too

LC of Bella Seattle has a Tippi on the way

Diem found a Tippi in Seattle.  Which seems to be a popular Tippi scouting area

Reader Allison scored a size 6, and had a size 8 available.  I hooked her up with Reader Kelly who was looking for a Tippi in size 8.  I don't know if blog magic happened for this exchange

I hooked Sharon up with a Tip on a Tippi size 2 in Seattle from LC
Another story I don't have a conclusion for

I'm getting a bit tipsy from all this Tippi madness.  I hope everyone found the Tippi of their dreams. Did I just write Tippi 9 times?

I Love You...and Chie Mihara's

Polka Peppered Dress - by Maeve - Anthro Orig $148 Sale $80 - May 2010
Tosmo in RED - by Chie Mihara - Far Fetch $329 - 041611

Today someone asked me if I liked you.  I laughed, and I said, "Ha! That's funny!!  I freakin' LOVE that chick!!  She's funny, caring, crazy as heck, sweet, beautiful, and she's reading this blog right now and; I love her!!"

I received this awesome "I Love You" from my friend today.  If your reading, Thank you Kelli.
Every year I allow myself one pair of Chie Miharas.  On sale of course.
The year was 2008. It was the first time I had ever seen a pair of Chie Mihara's at Anthro and on Heidi. I lusted for Antho's Savoy Slingbacks by Chie Mihara.  When Anthro finally put them on sale, they were still too expensive for me to afford.  Months later, I found mine at Nordstrom online for 70% off.  The last pair of size 38's for $103  They didn't even come in their original box.  I didn't care.

In 2009 I lusted for Anthro's Needlework T-Straps by Chie Mihara.  When Anthro put them on sale at 50% off, I didn't bat so much as an eye lash over the price.

The year was 2010. I didn't even see these until they hit sale in early January.  That's right, Anthro put this pair of sandals on sale in the dead of Winter. It happened so fast Heidi has been kicking herself ever since.  I think this color was an Anthro Exclusive.  I searched for Heidi, and was only able to find them in Taupe Suede. Which doesn't come close to Anthro's Pearl. BTW, instead of the leather wrapped heal that Anthro described, these arrived with a versatile stacked wood heel.

It was late 2010 when these showed up in an Anthro Catalog. I would make these mine the minute they hit sale.  I must have been asleep at the wheel or something.  But that's OK! All the reviews said they ran very narrow up front.  My foot is narrow everywhere, but the front.
Anthro's Ribbon Swell Heels-  by Chie Mihara - 2010

I'm over them...

It was instant love when I found the Tosmos at Chie Mihara's Online Store.  The only size available was UK 41.  I was heart broken for a minutes.  Wait!  Google to the rescue. The best price was $358 out the door from farfetch.com.  And DHL didn't even charge me a VAT fee or a surcharge for importing them.  They arrived last night from a little boutique in Sienna, Italy in 4 days.  They are perfect in every way.

My Red Suede Shoe Crave is now fulfilled.

I'm in a Well Review most of the day today.  I have to prepare.  I had more to say, but I'm running behind Ladies.

Do you love Chie Mihara's?  Do you love Red Suede Shoes?  Tell me about them.
