Creepy Peppering and Ketchup!

Hi Readers!  It's been awhile.  I hope everyone is doing well.

First, the "Creepy Peppering" portion of the post title.

The ambiance in the park was strange the morning I took OOTD photos for Anthro's Peppering Skirt. Tule Fog was rolling in from the River just over the rise behind me. Yet the sun was rising in front of me.  Is this scene creepy or what?

You know your addicted to Anthro when...
1. You calmly ignore a popular item that goes on sale, even though the reviews are excellent and you have nothing like it in your closet.
2. You check the product page daily and watch all sizes disappear and feel absolutely no emotion.
3. When the item sells out, you suddenly realize it's a must have.

I mean really, what is so fun about haunting a product page 6 times in an hour for a pop back in your size?  Absolutely nothing.  But I do this very thing obsessively. I admit that I find it a challenge that I enjoy.  There are well over 30 Anthro links in the bookmarks bar at the top of my browser. Not only that, I haunt product pages for friends. No joke!

I happen to think it's absolutely awesome that Anthro Community members share information on Roxy's EA Pop Back Posts.  In theory, I thought such posts would make finding coveted pop backs more difficult for the online shopper like myself.  This is not true at all.  Last night I ordered a pair of shoes listed in a comment on the Pop Back Thread.
The Nuts and Bolts Sandals by Frye

In reality, the complete opposite occurs.  Roxy is one smart Gal. Ha-ha! I may be more addicted to EA than Anthro.

I had no clue my Orla Kiely bag was so valuable and rare. Orla's Reversible Leather Shoulder Bag is far from my favorite. I was surprised to find an eBay listing for the bag priced higher than the original non sale price. $700. The seller recently dropped the asking price to $650 HERE (not a listing of mine or anyone I know).

The Spotted Satchel by Holding Horses is not an example of my Anthro addiction.  Ha-ha!  Who am I kidding?  I did not sit around and watch this bag disappear online. I knew I wouldn't get a second chance at this bag on Black Friday.  Anthro stores were not taking phone orders that day.  I picked this one up the minute it went on sale.  Despite the quirks, I use it far more than I ever thought I would.  All this bag needs is a drop of Super Glue and patience when latching.

Freshwater Pearl and Crystal Heart Necklace and Bracelet - by my Mom - 2008

Who did Maeve have in mind to wear the Hip Cinched Blouse?  Not me.  I'm the charter member of NSS (Narrow Shoulder Society).

But, I have worn this blouse as a layering piece under 3 different outfits. Ho ho!  Can you say "versatility and layering piece" at the same time?

So, I did as any addict would do. I haunted the product page for the Green version.  I happened upon a size 8 after...oh maybe a hundred *clicks or more (who's counting), for the stellar price of $20.

But, the Green version is an 8. Doh! When I saw the pop back, I paused over the size for a few minutes. Then I popped it in my shopping bag and checked out. I can run a seam up each side to tighten the fit at the hips.  Who's going to notice under a layer?

Did saving $30 over the sale price make all that clicking worth it?  Yes! I get a kick out of finding a coveted pop back. If it's on 2nd or 3rd cut, even better.

*clicks performed in the early morning and lunch time hours on work days, and at home in the evening and on Sunday nights only.  Completely appropriate clicking hours.

Marquee Gemmed Heels in Yellow - by Miss L Fire - Anthro Orig $148 Sale $80 - Nov 2011

Another example of an item I could have cared less about.  I kid!  The Marquee Gemmed Heels are the first pair of Miss 'L' Fire's that have attracted my attention in 2 years.  They were immediately wish listed.  I couldn't believe my luck when they made sale so soon, with 5 star reviews.  I adore them. However, the glued on stones make them impossible to wear as an everyday shoe.  These need Super Glue too!  I buy it in a two pack.

Almost done!

I never once considered the Beaded Felt Pencil Skirt until it made sale. It wasn't until then, I made time to read the reviews. Moulinette Soeurs Skirts consistently fit my low hip/waist ratio of 8. Did I dress this skirt down enough to make it suitable for work?

The Beaded Felt Pencil Skirt is my favorite skirt purchase for 2011.

Waving Pennant Necklace - by Pam Hiran - Anthro Orig $58 Sale $40 - Dec 2011

I wasn't impressed with the Layered Columns Dress.  My issue with the dress was lack of sleeves.  I finally jumped on the Bailey 44 band wagon when the Tiered Stripes arrived.

My only qualm now is... the quality of the fabric. When I arrived home late Christmas Eve I noticed little black balls of fabric all over my Cream Confection Jacket.  That's when I inspected the unfinished hem on the tiers of the dress.  Sure enough there are notches of missing fabric.  $188 is far too much for a dress that will look good for only a few wears.  I would need to hem every tier by hand because the fabric is extremely stretchy.  I'm certain the hem would ruin the smooth look of the dress. This dress is saved for special occasions only.

The Tiered Stripes would have been my favorite dress buy for 2011.  I passed it over for the Downeast Dress by Pendleton.

Old School Anthro! In Training with Leifsdottir and Anna Sui!

I'm all about Old School. This week, I'm in Training (Operation Geology) at my Old School.  California State University Bakersfield. I graduated from CSUB with my BS in Geology in 1994. With me this week are two Old School Anthro dresses.

Avonlea Dress - by Leifsdottir - Anthro Orig $298 Sale $70 - Dec 2008
Wide Scalloped Embroidery Slip Cream - Etsy A Slip Shop - Sale $18.75 - June 2011
Quilted Patent Iris Bag in Cream - by Orla Kiely AW10 - Yoox Orig $335 Sale $170 FS - Dec 2010
Lady Beetle Necklace - Anthro Orig $118 Sale $50 - June 2008

Today I'm wearing Anthro's Avonlea Dress by Leifsdottir.  I ordered this $298 Silk dress on 2nd cut for $70 in 2008.  This was back when Anthro actually gave Leifsdottir 2nd cuts.  I keep hoping Leifsdottir will begin cranking out Old School dresses again.  Sadly, by dreams are so far unanswered.

Avonlea Dress - by Leifsdottir - Anthro Orig $298 Sale $70 - Dec 2008
Wide Scalloped Embroidery Slip Cream - Etsy A Slip Shop - Sale $18.75 - June 2011

Quilted Patent Iris Bag in Cream - by Orla Kiely AW10 - Yoox Orig $335 Sale $170 FS - Dec 2010
Lady Beetle Necklace - Anthro Orig $118 Sale $50 - June 2008

I took a quick tour of the campus early this morning before Class. I visited the Duck Pond where my 23 year old son Camden (a toddler then) chased the ducks.  Then the ducks would about face and chase him.  He was fearless, regardless of the fact that many were twice his size.

This dress is a bit short, so I layered a new Scallop Trimmed Half Slip from Etsy's A Slip Shop.  My slip is showing, don't you love it?

This is Monday's outfit for my first day back in class.  Another Old School Anthro Dress.  The Birds-Eye-View Dress by Anna Sui for Anthro. The dress is pre-owned and in perfect condition, except for a pull in the Silk Shell at the back.  I don't recall seeing this dress over the last three years.  I didn't find it in the Anthro Catalogs.  Google images turned up Anthro's Product Images only.

Does anyone know what year it was sold on Anthro?  See the Product Page HERE.  It's has to be at least Two years old, because there are no online reviews.

Here I am wearing my J Crew Jackie Cardi in Laquer Yellow. Again!  That's 3 times in 8 days.  I've always wondered if J Crew intentionally miss-spelled Laquer.  Which should be spelled Lacquer.  Perhaps it's the week long dose of the classroom, that brings this small Faux Pas to my attention.

Shop the Jackie Cardi HERE.

Anthro left me out in the cold for Cardigans.
This Gal has gotta have Cardigans...All Year Round.

I'm not normally a Whimsy Print sort of gal. Blogging has changed that.  I found myself attracted to the Sheer Silk, replete with Swooping Birds, Blossoming Cherry Trees, Butterflies, Caterpillars, and Marching Watermelon Slices at the hemline.  As if that wasn't enough,  add a hail storm of raining Red and Green Cherries.  The style is a bit strange.  Why the deep plunging neckline for such a modest dress?  But as it turns out, the fit was perfect.

I can't believe my one year Blog Anniversary is only a week or so away.  Imagine that.

What should I do to Celebrate?  Any ideas from my loyal Readers, Bloggers and Friends would be greatly appreciated.

This Orla Kiely Dress was purchased by a friend from the Orla Kiely Flagship Store in London on sale for $250.  It has been worn less than 5 times.

Waist and Hips are free.  This is a Tent Dress and is designed to be open and flowy.

Length from highest shoulder location is 36".  Measurement under the arm is a total of 38".

This dress has Pockets and is Fully Lined.  The fabric is a Blend of 75% Silk, 25% Cotton. Dry Clean Only.

The closure consists of Two Large Fabric covered snaps at the Nape with Key Hole. The Neckline is covered with large fabric covered Buttons.  There is one deep pleat front and center.  The fabric is gorgeous and does not wrinkle. Styles easily with Cardigans that don't have a high neckline because of the multitude of buttons.  I love this dress, but it's too big and isn't flattering with my very narrow shoulders.

Got Tape!

Happy Monday!  Why am I happy on a back to work Monday?  Because it's the 4 day week of my 9/80 work schedule.  That means I am off this Friday.  But what makes it even sweeter is... next Monday is the 4th of July Holiday.  I get a 4-day weekend.  That's almost a vacation.  I'm curious if anyone takes advantage of a 9/80 work schedule.

I was a surprised at how small my Painted Orchid Belt from Anthro is. At first it appeared to be made for a child.  It wasn't until then, that $50 on sale seemed like too much.  But, when I tried it with the Reflecting Pools Dress, it was LOVE.

Swift Current Cardi in Blue - by Tabitha - eBay BIN $48 - April 2011
Painted Orchid Belt in Red - by Exquisite J Reincarnation Italy - Anthro Orig $98 Sale $50 - June 2011
I'm not sure if this photo is a blurry, or the Pattern of the Dress looks that way.  Maybe both.  The belt is sagging because my employee badge is hanging off to one side.  Who wasn't completely awake at 6 AM?  Me!

Swift Current Cardi in Blue - by Tabitha - eBay BIN $48 - April 2011

Finest Hour Heels - by Miss Albright - Anthro Orig $158 Sale $80 - May 2011
Shiny Leather Caraway Bag in Mauve - Orla Kiely Orig $584 Sale $380 - Feb 2011
Retro Rosie Earrings in Coral - Modcloth $10 - June 2011
Faceted Carnelian Leather Wrap - by Etsy Shop Rowdy Wear $75 - Sept 2009

I might have an obsession with Moulinette Seours Silk Slip Dresses?  First the Verdant Slip Dress.  Then the Reflecting Pools Dress.  And finally, last week the Sangatte Slip Dress on sale.  If you placed a bet that I would buy a Fourth should it appear online, you would likely win.

Stick By Me Lingerie Tape - Modcloth $8 - June 2011

I finally sprung for Tape to hold clothing to skin.  Shop Stick By Me Lingerie Tape HERE.  But before you do, consider this.  If you are going to be outside in the heat don't bother.  It won't stay stuck if you get wet or if you sweat.  And if you have Hot Flashes, it doesn't work to well either.  Ha-ha! It keeps the sides of my sweater stuck to my chest for about an hour. What is the point?

Finest Hour Heels - by Miss Albright - Anthro Orig $158 Sale $80 - May 2011
Shiny Leather Caraway Bag in Mauve - Orla Kiely Orig $584 Sale $380 - Feb 2011
If my shoes look familiar, you just saw them last week with my #1 favorite Anthro Dress HERE.  But what I forgot to show you last week, I remembered to show you today.

Finest Hour Heels - by Miss Albright - Anthro Orig $158 Sale $80 - May 2011
No, No Ladies! Not the Love Scratches.  The bows!  Now you want them don't you?  It was Peggy of She Hath Done What She Could that found Miss Albright's Finest Hour Heels for me in her local Anthro Store. Peggy is celebrating her 200th Follower with a give-away.  Please give Peggy my love, and tell her how much I adore the shoes she found for me.

Why am I all smiles?  There was a group of Moms and Kids (about a dozen) running a circut that included the Amphitheater stairs.  I'm surprised I didn't catch any of them in action behind me.  Naturally they were smiling and watching me as they ran.  Who wouldn't stare at a crazy woman right smack dab in the middle of an Amphitheater, taking pictures of herself with a huge camera and tripod.  I would stare too.  They gave me good reason to smile back.

The Tippi Borrows from The Mompos!

Greetings!  I lined up another successful Tippi Match over the weekend, with the help of LC of Bella Seattle.  LC discovered a lone Tippi Dress at a Seattle area Anthro. I checked my Tippi Matchmaker List and sure enough, Natalie was still looking for a Tippi.  After several phone calls, Natalie had no luck with an SA finding the Tippi.  Shortly after, LC informed me that the dress was on a rack by the door. Finally, Natalie got hold of a Sales Associate that went looking for a dress, that was now described to her, and on a rack by the door.  Success.  What made the deal sweeter was, she picked up her Tippi at the 25% Red Tag discount.

Search Tips:  If you are looking for a special item by phone, it helps to give as much information as possible, including a description of the item and the possible location in the store. Style numbers are usually necessary, but they won't find a dress that hasn't been entered in the stores inventory control system.  And be aware that SA's don't always know the online names.

Tippi Dress - by Anna Sui - Anthro Orig $268 Sale $140 - May 2011
Finest Hour Heels - by Miss Albright - Anthro Orig $158 Sale $80 Burlingame CA Peggy - May 2011
Butterfly Cuff - by Jessica Kagan Cushman - Max and Chloe $170 - March 2010
A few weeks ago I inquired about purchasing a Black Cardigan.  An overwhelming number of Ladies suggested J Crew's Jackie Cardigan.  I was hesitant. I find it difficult to spend $62 on a plain cardigan.

I am officially a J Crew Jackie convert.  This is a great sweater.  TTS.  No stretching after a long day. I couldn't be happier with this Cardigan.  True, I can't wear it outside in 110 degree F weather, but it's perfect for the ice box temps in the office.  So great in fact, I ordered another in Laquer Yellow.  I'm on the verge of a third very soon.

Shop the Jackie Cardigan by J Crew - some colors on sale.

Finest Hour Heels - by Miss Albright - Anthro Orig $158 Sale $80 Burlingame CA Peggy - May 2011

My office has a long tile hallway that runs dead center down the middle.  There have times when I attempted to soundlessly tip-toe my way to the Powder Room. Yes ladies, I was wearing wooden clogs.  So you must imagine my happiness to discover how quiet the Finest Hour Heels are.  Now I can joyfully skip my way to the Potty with no embarrassing clang, clang.

My Clank-Proof Clogs are showing signs of love.........right up front.

Anthro has an almost exact pair of Miss Albright's, although much higher, on sale HERE.

Tippi Dress - by Anna Sui - Anthro Orig $268 Sale $140 - May 2011
I don't need to tell you how much I love this Dress.  Many Ladies had a desire for this dress that was strongly associated with Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds."  The last time I watched this rather disturbing Sci-Fi movie I was just a kid. I caught the tail end of the movie about a week after I received my Tippi.  It's still disturbing.

It almost seems silly to tell you this, because I've never felt anything like this from a piece of clothing.

The Tippi Dress mesmerizes me. I'm fascinated by the shadowed, scene that circles the skirt. The dress is Wispy, When a breeze catches the delicate Silk Skirt, it ripples like water.  I feel pretty just by wearing it.

Isn't that exactly what a dress should do?

Do you have a Dress that does something special like this for you?
Does it have a name?

and finally....

What did I borrow from the Mompos dress to wear with the Tippi?

Anthro's Briny Winds Jacket by We Love Vera Takes a Spring Break! Sale Rumor?

I have no excuse for being MIA for almost a week.  Today's Post is brought to you by the always wonderful Pamela of Ginger Girl. Pamela and I share a love of all things Orla Kiely.  Last week she asked about sizing for Anthro's Briny Winds Jacket by We Love Vera.  Which reminded me that I have not yet worn the Jacket this Spring.

Briny Winds Jacket - by We Love Vera - Anthro Orig $128 Sale $70 - May 2009
Molded and Melded Tee - by C Keer - Anthro Orig $48 Sale $29 - Jan 2011

Sun and Sky Bracelet - Esty Shop L Rose Designs $58 Russian Ammonozite and Yel Quartz on Sterling - Apr 2009
A Rose Is A Rose Earrings - by Etsy Shop Magillie $18 - March 2009
I hadn't realized that my High Gloss Belt in Blue was showing below the Jacket until I saw these photos.  I immediately removed the belt.  Another great reason to take photos of yourself.  You can instantly see your outfit mistakes.

More Trial and Error with the SLR.  If my last images were too dark, these are too light.  I did finally find the reset button.  Photos come out very nice everywhere but my living area.  Just look at the photo of my new Chie Mihara's taken in the yard.

Corn Lane Slingbacks - by Chie Mihara - Anthro $388 - May 2011
I'm still crying that these shoes didn't make sale in time to claim a price adjustment.  But really just a tear now and again.

Wicked and Hot!  What gal doesn't need some of that in her closet.

Wingspan Brooch - by Chilean Artist Chantal Bernsau - Anthro Orig $98 Sale $50 - Nov 2009
A Rose Is A Rose Earrings - by Etsy Shop Magillie $18 - March 2009

I was a total fan of Chantal Bernsau's horsehair art jewelry.  I was a bit disappointed to find out that Anthro's Wingspan Brooch was not constructed of horsehair. I believe it's plastic of some sort.  Of course I can no longer find the screen shot I kept of the original Product Page. I won't cry over it, because I think it was the perfect choice for a shoulder Garnish with Anthro's Briny Winds Jacket.

The very funny unplanned accessory in this photo is the well placed curly hair stuck to the front of my Jacket just below the large top button.  By the time I saw this little miscreant in the photo it was gone.  Who forgot to make a mirror check yesterday morning?  Me!  Did I forget to mention this is yesterday's OOTD.  Today I am wearing my Green De Armee Dress.

Now for something really dark.  I was playing with flash setting and modes yesterday.  As if you didn't already guess that.  Ha-ha!

I have nothing but deep down abiding love for my over sized Shiny Leather Caraway Bag in Mauve by Orla Kiely.

Memorial Weekend is finally here.  I'm so jazzed.  Remember, I hinted that something special was coming.  Hee-hee!  I'm meeting that very special person tomorrow afternoon for the first time.  I'm so exited I want to scream.  I made all the arrangements.  The perfect location has been found and we have permission to be there first thing Saturday morning.  And the weather in Bako is simply gorgeous and cool.  Your dieing to know what it is aren't you?

Zip! That's me shutting my big mouth.
