My Photographer Works for Pizza! Inspiration That Rocks #2!

Just in case you missed "Inspiration That Rocks #1" you can catch-up HERE.

My 22 year old son, Camden (Gaelic - from the winding valley) cautiously agreed to accompany me to Hart Park (through which the Killer Kern River runs).  He informed me that he would HOLD and CARRY ONLY. The last time I handed him a camera (my Olympus) he dropped it on the concrete driveway.

Opal - Mostly transparent mineral consisting of hydrous silica. Opal can occur in almost any color, but it is often pinkish white with a milky or pearly appearance. It typically forms within cracks in igneous rocks, limestone's, and mineral veins. Commonly found near Hot Springs.

As promised, I have identified the name of this Mineral.  The Reader who submitted this Opal photo is now entered in the final vote to win a Vintage Tatted Snowflake Necklace. There are now 8 photos in the pool to be carried over.

If you want to submit a photo, please email to lauramartinsemail@yahoo.com.  Remember, don't tell me the name of the Specimen.  If you use a URL make sure it doesn't contain the name in the address.

See Photo Guidelines, Giveaway info, and Schedule Dates
for Submissions and Outfit Posts HERE.

I've worn the The Spotlights Tank twice in one month.

See the Spotlights Tank layered under a pullover HERE.

I adore this top.  The reviews were not so favorable. Which usually bods well for me.  But, I did have to do a bit of stitching on the bodice so my bra wouldn't show.  Otherwise, this top has been a fun little sale item for me.

Camden and I grabbed our gear and crossed the road to find a small crowd on the photo OP bridge. While we waited for the crowd to clear, I set up the tripod across the street and started taking a few photos. I couldn't see the blinking light or hear the beeps from my auto timer.  So I kindly requested son to step in and just push the button on my mark.

Baby steps are still needed even at age 22.

This might seem a little strange.  But my Skirt is actually Anthro's Sea Drift Dress.  See how it actually looks HERE.  I am wearing the bodice under the skirt like a pair of shorts.  It was naturally a little bulky with the ruffled waistline and the Spotlights Tank over top.  So I belted over everything with Anthro's British Poise Cincher.

After a few minutes we moved back over to the hill next to the bridge.  There is a couple standing on my OP spot now.  Camden is now taking on the tripod set-up and deciding the best location.  But I still have to tell him "Now" to push the button.  It's 3 PM and almost 70 degrees F.  I'm WARM!  But I want that bridge.

Meet Anita

Anita kindly allowed me to take a picture with her.  Her little sister was afraid of the slats between the wood planks.  Now Camden really shows his TRUE GRIT.  He tells Anita to look at him and smile in his sweetest voice.  She's a cutie.  And now we can get down to business and get the shot I want.  He moved the tripod off the trail and up the hill, claiming that was the best spot.  Now he's calling the shots.  He took about 5 photos to get this one.

I love my son for taking this photo!

This photo captures the image of the Opal inspired outfit I imagined. The sun shining on the River water emulates the explosions of light within the beautiful mineral.  The Cognac Leather of the Platforms translates to the natural Brown shell of the igneous rock,  The Jacket and Dress bring in the rich Blues.

Camden asked me if I wanted to look at the photos.  I asked, "Did you get one?"  He said "Yes."

Thank you Camden.  The whole time we are doing this, a small crowd has formed waiting to cross the bridge.

Funny thing is...you can walk 10 yards up and cross the road.  As we walked to the car he said, "I can't believe I just did that. Do you want to take more?"

My High School friends and I used to hang out across the street from what we called The Palm Grove. Camden was worried about shadows cast by the tripod. Now he was telling me where I should stand. I couldn't believe this was the same son I left the house with.  My son, who never wants to hear anything about my blog.  I changed my coat for a Brown Blazer. Camden said it looked out of place, so I put it back in the car.

I PUT IT BACK IN THE CAR!!!!!!!!  ; )

I did sneak a small piece of Pink Peruvian Opal in the outfit by way of my Etsy Necklace seen HERE.

I made a photo request to Camden.  He tells me, throwing my hat in the air is stupid.  I explain that the blog is supposed to be entertaining and fun.  He mumbles "Stupid."  He captured a good toss.

As we drive back to town, he tells me that he wouldn't mind doing this again as long as I pay him in Pizza.

Don't forget to submit this weeks photo.  If you submit one per week, it will increase your chances of winning the giveaway necklace.

Today's outfit is a complete re-mix!  You have seen everything I am wearing in a post except one item. AND....I combined a Floral and a Plaid plus the Roadway Tights.

The Top is Anthro's Jahoda Corset Top.  See me wear it dressed up HERE. Two years ago both Heidi and Christine purchased this top in the Fresno CA store.  I didn't.  I picked mine up a few months later on sale. Our annual shopping trip this year is to Anthro in Santa Monica. I'm counting down to the first or second weekend of March.

I wore the Hop, Skip, Jump Skirt about 2 weeks ago HERE.  I really love this skirt.  So tell me when you guys get tired of seeing me in it.  If they made it in every color of the rainbow, I would endeavour to have them all.

Unless you have gone pocking around in my Virtual Closet, you have never seen the Homecoming Game Jacket by Sanctuary. And a very cozy jacket I might add.  I'm ashamed to say I haven't given this coat love in almost 2 years until today.  If you look closely at my wrists you can see the shiny, quilted, Gold lining.

Esty Shop psbymelanie - Strawberry Lampwork Bracelet and Earrings - $38 for the set - Apr 2009

Etsy's Strawberry Fields Lampwork Bracelet and Earrings were part of what I call my Matchy/Match phase of styling 2 years ago.  The shop name is psbymelanie.  She custom made the earrings to Matchy/Match the bracelet.  Heidi has a similar bracelet from Etsy that I considered ordering before I found this one.  So yes, we were Matchy/Match together with the strawberries that are sprinkled about the Jahoda Corset Top.

Anthro's Mrs. Blackbeard's Necklace - by Wendy Mink -
Orig $198 Sale $50 - Feb 2011

Anthro's Perthshire Dress with Mrs. Blackbeard's Necklace September 2010 Catalog

This is what I got on sale this morning with my Birthday Gift Certificate from Heidi and Christine. After Three weeks, the Anthro GC finally returned after spending it on a cancelled item. The original price for this Wendy Mink Necklace was $198.  A few weeks ago it finally hit sale for $100.  I think I've had my Perthshire Dress, purchased on sale, for more than two months. I noticed last week that the necklace still was not selling well.  So I was ever so happy to pick it up for $50 today.  Yeah!  My patience paid off on another great Anthro deal.  But still no D'armee Dress.  My Saintly patience is dwindling.

Now on to my exciting news.

A SELF IMPOSED CHALLENGE USING YOUR INSPIRATION!

Most of you know that my field of study was Geology. What comes to mind when you think of Geology?  Study of the Earth?  OK!  What else?

The study of ROCKS and MINERALS!

I want you, my Readers and Fellow Bloggers to send me photos of a ROCK or a MINERAL from the Internet or elsewhere. Please make sure that you know what the name of the specimen is.

GUIDELINES:

1.  I am going to re-mix an outfit each week on Wednesday for 6 weeks from one of your chosen submissions.

2.  Starting today though Saturday of the following week (that gives me Sunday to plan Wednesday's outfit) you can send me one submission each.  I thought I would give you some extra time for the first submissions.  Next Wednesday I will re-mix my own example to get started. My example will be number 1 of 6. The following Wednesday I will re-mix one of your photo submissions.  I get to pick which Rock or Mineral to use as inspiration from your pool of submissions for the week.

3.  After re-mix number 2 from your first submissions.  You will have Sunday through Saturday to submit photos for Wednesday's ROCK and MINERAL inspired Re-Mix. Again, giving me a Weekend day (Sunday) to choose and plan.

Note: You may only get 2 posts a week out of me for the entire 6 weeks.  We will see how it goes.  As it stands I spend my entire weekend planning posts and making comment rounds.  I barely have time to plan a wardrobe and shop.  A good thing no?

3. Please email me a photo of the specimen, and please no URBANITE.

THE KICKER:

Do not tell me what the name of the specimen is.

I have to identify it.  Please don't give me some strange mixture of stuff.  Because I only know the basics.

After 6 weeks, we will vote on the best specimen and it's matching outfit.

THE INCENTIVE:

The winner will get something very special that I hinted about in the past. But for now I'm not going to let the cat out of the bag.  So this is my first Giveaway ever.  This is not for the purpose of gaining Followers. You don't have to blog about the Challenge or Giveaway unless you want to, just to make it more fun.

So start sending me those photo specimens.  I think this will be a lot of fun, plus I will get to brush up on my Rock and Mineral identification.  And I plan to bring Heidi in on it when I need a little help.  So I hope she's paying attention.

To get started, this is my personal specimen and choice for next week.  I will tell you the name next Wednesday.

Start sending me those photo specimens.
