What's in Your Hopi Basket? A Shirtdress, a Tata, and Little Old Me!

This outfit turned out so much better than I expected.  Not only do I love it, I picked up the Hopi Basket Cardigan by Sparrow and the Double-Breasted Shirtdress by Moulinette Soeurs on 2nd cuts for a total of $70.  Full price these two items would have come to a whopping $286. For me this is thrifty.

One new change I have made to Anthro Closet Chaos is to provide the link to the full product image and specific information whenever I mention the name.  When you click the link you will be redirected to my virtual closet.  Why did I do this?  So as to not bog down the blog with additional photos.  It should be easier to comment now.

I'm pointing out another of my Grandmother Cooper's watercolors.  This one is of Venice, Italy.

I almost ordered the Double Breasted Shirtdress at full price.  As soon as the reviews started rolling in I knew I would wait for sale.  If most women can't wear it, it's a sure bet I can.  My only issue is with the belt. The 100% cotton twill is slick, so the belt would not stay put.  I opted to change it out for the Spruce Corset Belt.  The dress arrived a wrinkled mess that required about 1/2 an hour of ironing.  I think once ironed it will be fine with only minor touch ups for many wearings.  And it's Machine Wash Tumble Dry.  Huge plus.

Ahhhhh!  The Hopi Basket Cardi. It's a marvelous blend of mostly Cotton with Nylon, Viscose, Lambswool and Cashmere.  Soft, comfy, pocketed, and NOT frumpy one little bit.

I'm so jealous of her Miss Albright Peep Toes.  Mine were delivered looking like a 10 year old sewed them. BooHoo!

Since neither the dress or cardi are catalog items, you will have to haunt the Anthro Sale Section for Pop Backs in about a week or two. I ordered TTS for both items.

Sepia Crocus Bag - Dark Multi-Stem Shiny Laminate Tote by Orla Kiely AW08 - Anthro $178 - June 2008

I found the Malted Barely Boots by Area Forte in the October 2009 Catalog (in April 2010) on Pop Back.  They were my gateway boots to another Anthro Addiction.  It was all I could do to hold out until Fall of 2010 for the new crop of boots to appear.  I think I am satisfied with the 4 pairs I picked up in Fall Winter. What do you think of the Striped Tights in the Red Motif with this outfit?  I'm not so sure these are the perfect pair.  Although Heidi D. loves them.  I ordered the Cockle Shell Tights in Copper on Pop Back last night. I'm smitten with the bold copper color.

Another gateway item is Anthro's Sepia Crocus Bag.  Also known as Orla's Dark Stem Print Tote AW08. This bag sent me off on a wild and wonderful love for the collections from Irish born, London based, Designer Orla Kiely.  An addiction that continues to rule.

Her AW10 Collection is on sale everywhere right now.

"Heishe! Stop showing your little cat butt to the camera"  He's goofy in love with me that cat.

I brought in sparkling Orange and Pink jewelry.  Anthro's Straw Market Earrings in Orange Carnelian and Purple Jade from 2008, along with Anthro's Ribbon Rays Necklace by Tataborello from 2010.

I hope all my East Coast Blog friends are staying warm, dry and safe today. Hopefully you took a snow day and stayed home as suggested. Please, please take care if you are cummuting to work today.  I can't imagine how much tougher daily life must be for you.

Polkas and Primary Sparkle in the Navy - F21

Happy Back To Work Monday! Yesterday, Camden and I set out to Bakersfield's Valley Plaza Mall.  I was out to get my iPhone makeover. A free iPhone case from Sephora.  Never mind, they were all gone.  So son and I took a walk through the mall.  Pretty much deserted on Sunday.  Robinson's May is now a Target. I haven't stepped foot in here for many months.

Honor Guard Booties - by Messeca - Anthro $168 - Dec 2010
Butterfly and Flower Set- Gifted and Handmade by Saraporn - Etsy Shop WahtVeritas - Dec 2010

As I round the bend to where Gottschalks used to be, what do I see?  A huge department store size FOREVER 21. Impressive.  Maybe not.  As you can see, not much action going on here.

So I made my first F21 purchase.  No big deal!  It's a $10, long sleeved, Gray Tee.

Forever 21
Valley Plaza Mall - Bakersfield CA - Jan 2011
Today is a partial re-mix of sorts.  Only one item I am wearing is new.  I've posted this outfit previously. See me wearing the Anthro's Proscenium Cardi in Navy by Splendid and Leifsdottir's Vintage Dots Skirt in a previous post HERE.

Today I added a splash of Red with Anthro's Outlook Belt. Then carried sparkling Navy down with Anthro's Pizazz Tights by Eloise.

Honor Guard Booties - by Messeca - Anthro $168 - Dec 2010
Quilted Patent Iris Bag in Cream - by Orla Kiely AW10 - Yoox Orig $335 Sale $170 FS - Dec 2010
I brought in a bit of Military style with Anthro's Honor Guard Booties by Messeca. These now Sold Out shoes get tons of comps. The SA's in F21 loved them. I was able to repair my wayward snap that kept popping off with Engineering tape. Something the shoe repair guy couldn't handle.  He would have to replace all the snaps to match. Engineering tape is the answer to Super Glue when you need something a little thicker.  I can press Anthro hooks on my doors with the stuff.

Dyed Howlite Butterfly and Flower Set - Gifted and Handmade by Saraporn - Etsy Shop WahtVeritas - Dec 2010
And now for my new item.  I received this necklace and earrings set from my friend Saraporn in Thailand.  She is the owner and artist for Etsy ShopWahtVeritas.  She sent both Heidi and I a set for the Holidays. She is such a sweet friend.  She hand makes all her jewelry.  This necklace is made from dyed Howlite and stainless wire.

Glittens - Anthro - Gifted from Christine - Dec 2009
Quilted Patent Iris Bag in Cream - by Orla Kiely AW10 - Yoox Orig $335 Sale $170 FS - Dec 2010
Introducing one of my favorite, but not so versatile coats, Anthro's Diamondplate Coat by Leifsdottir. And to add a punch of Primary color into the mix, I donned this pair of bright Yellow Glittens gifted to me from Christine in Dec 2009. I have been carrying my new Quilted Patent Iris Bag by Orla Kiely non stop for two weeks now. I can't get enough of this gorgeous little bag.  The strap unhooks to convert to a clutch.  Awesome!

Tonight I will have my repaired Laptop in my hot little hands. It's amazing how excited I am over a Laptop.  More so than an Anthro delivery.  I actually have a bunch of those coming tonight too.  I have a feeling I'm not going to get much sleep.

Ask me questions please!

A Copy Cat From Anthroholic Reader Katy! Heidi's Pinafore Pullover on eBay!

Copying another Blogger seems un-original, but isn't that why we blog outfits? In fact, it's an honor when someone copies me. So I'm sure Katy wouldn't mind that I loved her Purple outfit so much, I wanted to wear it myself.

Thanks Katy for the outrageously, unique pairing of the Easy Keeper Skirt in Orange Motif, with the From The Poles Jacket in Purple. The Purple Tights balance the outfit perfectly.

See Katy wearing the outfit on Kim's Anthroholic Readers Outfit Post.

Many of you may remember that I found my Pinafore Pullover by Rosie Neira on Pop Back the morning of my Birthday.  I also found one for Heidi.  It turns out Heidi is too Tall (5'9") and her torso is too long for the sweater.  So she is selling her Pinafore Pullover in size Large on eBay.  It's the cheapest one there.  Here is the link so you can snag it.

Please use eBay Messaging for questions about the Sweater.
I suggest if you want to bid, use my link at the top of the right side bar to get a free trial of easy sniper.  If the max bid is high enough you are a sure bet to win. Or take the Buy It Now before someone bids.

Heishe was all over me this morning.  I left the house with tights covered in white fur. Ha-ha!  I wonder if anyone makes fur tights.  See his one little front foot curled up.  He walks around me and jumps up to run his teeth over my knee while he stomps around making biscuits on the carpet.  All the while purring and meowing like mad.

As for the left over snowflakes I mentioned in Monday's post.  I can't say yet, but one thing is for sure, I need to wait until my Laptop returns from being repaired.

Notice there is no Security Device on my From The Poles Jacket.  Anthro Berkeley shipped the Jacket back using overnight express for the AM.  I bet that cost a pretty penny.  It was 2 days before Christmas and would have cost Anthro $90 if I had shipped it to them.  Instead, I choose ground.

I've probably worn these Miss L Fire Totem Heels 10 times in 2 years. I love the red-brown carved wood heels.

There are no Pop Back links today since most of what I am wearing was from Catalogs that are now overwritten.  Hopefully you have placed these items in your Anthro Wish List and are checking for Pop Backs there.

I ordered two items that both received second cuts in yesterday's sale.  I plan to wear them together. I'm hoping for an Anthro return credit to show soon, so I can order the Shoelace Collar Coat by T Reese.

Although I'm also crazy in love with the Red Suede Chie Mihara's, but I just bought the Purple Suede Coclico's.  It might be a toss up between the T Reese Coat and the Red Chie's.  We shall see.

Today's Details and Snowflakes!

I lingered over my Anthro Birthday Gift Card from Heidi and Christine for about a week.  I finally took the plunge last Wednesday with a Pop Back of the Cloaked In Roses Jacket in the November Catalog.

I've heard it can take weeks to process online Gift Cards.  So I called the order line.  Wrong choice.  I then had to call CS. It took too long. This morning I received a cancellation notice. Boohoo! But I was able to pick up another Jacket at the Soho NY Store. Yippee! There was one Small left.

25% off Red Tag Sale is still effective through today.

Quilted Patent Iris Bag in Cream - by Orla Kiely AW10 - Yoox Orig $335 Sale $170 FS - Dec 2010
Now for today's OOTD. I gave no thought to this outfit until it hit the Red Tag Sale. Suddenly I was all over it.  I ordered the Attention To Detail Dress, Tapestry Tights, and Fisherman's Companion Sweatercoat (not the one seen in the image).  It wasn't until days later that I discovered the model was also wearing my Berry Stitched Boots.

Attention To Detail Dress in Taupe - By Coquille - Anthro Orig $128 Sale $60 Red Tag $45 - Dec 2010
Tapestry Tights - by Eloise - Anthro Orig $18 Sale $10 Red Tag $7.50 - Dec 201
Spruce Corset Belt - Anthro Orig $32 Sale $20 Red Tag - Dec 2010
Berry Stitched Boots - by Lucky Penny - Anthro Orig $248, Sale $130 - Nov 2010
I finally put the Spruce Corset Belt to good use.  The dress has an elastic waist with a ribbon tie. I belted over top the elastic waist and let the ribbon hang down.  I kinda like it.  Does it look OK Readers?

Your probably wondering why I'm not wearing the Fisherman's Companion Sweatercoat. Mildew odor!  Guess where that came from? The Berkeley CA Store.  The same store that left the security tag on the From The Poles Jacket.

Handmade Vintage Tatted Snowflake Ornaments Made by my Mom

And now for some necklace inspiration.  No it's not snowing the cold stuff in Bako, but it was snowing vintage Tatted snowflake ornaments.  A result of my Mothers talented handy work from many years ago. I was instantly inspired by these small pieces of art. Each painstakingly made using a lost form of Old English lace making known as Tatting. What will I do with them all?

Havilland Sweatercoat - by Monogram - eBay $96 Dec 2010 - Vintage Anthro Orig $168 from Oct 2007

It took me 1/2 an hour to decide which three ornaments I loved together.  Then all of 15 minutes to de-construct an old Etsy necklace and make myself a Tatted Snowflake Ornament Necklace.

Kennett Gloves - by Portoland - Anthro Orig $88, Sale $50 - Jan 2010
Does anyone recognize the Havilland Sweatercoat from Anthro's Oct 2007 Catalog.  After 2 years, I finally finally won a bid.  I've been drooling over Heidi's Havilland for years.  EZ Sniper Free Trial was the key to winning the bid.  That and the fact that I was willing to go as high as $150.  But won at $96. If anyone wants to try the Free Trial, please use my referal link.  It will generate Free Trials for me. There is another link at the top of the side bar.

Berry Stitched Boots - by Lucky Penny - Anthro Orig $248, Sale $130 - Nov 2010
I love the Tapestry Tights with the Berry Stitched Boots.  It wasn't until recently that my Mother pointed out the color as Oxblood.

And here you have the entire ensemble.  Slightly different that the original Anthro Outfit.  I like to think it's better too.  Beep-Beep!  Especially with my Happy Birthday to Me Orla Kiely Bag.

How is everyone weathering the holiday's, floods, and snow storms? All the major passes into the Southern end of the Central Valley of CA are closed due to snow, or rock slides.  One of my cubicle cell mates is stuck in LA.  Heidi is trapped (although happily I am sure) in her little mountain community.

I was thrilled to find I had hit the 100 Followers mark over the weekend.  While my Laptop is in for repairs, I can't easily check everyday.  I promise I will make commenting rounds from my son's disgraceful bedroom over the next couple of nights.  Hope to see everyone soon.

BTW!  I'm planning something special for those left over snowflakes. Can you guess what my plan might be?
