Don't you just hate it when this happens?

There were at least Thirty people participating in a White Elephant Gift Exchange. We drank unfiltered Saki, ate lobster and steak fired up on a 2x4 foot hibachi, by a knife wielding cook, throwing hot mustard and flames, as we roasted against a plate glass window in the late afternoon.

Ha-ha....On My Birthday no less!

I bring a safe gift that is at least useful to all. (a $20 Target gift card) I draw #2. Gift #1 was shot glasses. A pass for me.

There was no hope that anyone would steal this dancing hat full of awesomeness away from me. I couldn't even find an image of this Dan Dee Choice Collectible. It's out there now, because I put it there.

I'll be scouring Lowe's for this wicked little Garden Gnome this weekend.

In the mean time, I must admit, the hat is growing on me.

BTW, Nefi injured her front paw. Luckily it isn't broken. She is on Antibiotics and Anti-inflammatory. I discovered yesterday, the easiest way to give a Rabbit medication, is to drip it onto fresh mint. I wish I would have thought to try this a week ago. I was spending an hour day trying to catch a Rabbit that doesn't like having a syringe forced in her little mouth. It was a losing battle.

I have a backlog of OOTD's just waiting for a break so I can post them.

I must be the worst absentee Blogger on the planet. For 5 solid days I've been glued to my PC. This is how it went.

Tuesday November 22nd

I awake to find that Anthropologie fooled us by not having a sale. I went crazy that morning and bought an entire outfit around a pair of Rachel Comey Shoes that appeared out of nowhere in the Sale Section. It seems there is only one other person on the planet that also loves these shoes. She purchased them after I sent her the link. My dear friend Heidi. I'm a product of the 70's. At least I have an excuse. I don't know what hers is.

Yep! I'm an enabler.

Later in the morning I asked to take a vacation day on Wednesday. Approved. Then I started to get sick. Boohoo!

I went right to bed when I arrived home.

Wednesday Nov 23rd

I completely forgot about the sale and slept in late. Strangely enough, I woke up feeling fine. Something to be Thankful for on the day before Thanksgiving. After checking the Anthro sale page, I held myself back from purchasing the Dromedary Dress. You know the one.....bright orange with large pink camels scattered about. How is it that Heidi and I can both love the Selene Clogs, while we completely disagree on the dress?

Don't be shocked. Honestly, I don't remember what prompted me to create a Polyvore of Tuesday's purchases.

Thanksgiving Day

I woke up early to discover my car battery was dead. Nothing to be Thankful for there. Luckily or should I say thankfully, I managed to get a jump start. It turned out someone (who shall remain nameless) left the dome light on. Thankfully, the battery charged while driving around town to pick up a ham for dinner.

After dinner I spent the evening following Roxy's Anthropologie Black Friday 2011 Prep Post. I set the alarm for 2:30 am since the expected start time was 3 am. Then for some strange I visited Polyvore. I created 2 possible Holiday sets for the Tangerine Flicker Dress.

First go at it produced this...

I jumped over to Anthro Online at 2:30 am to discover the sale was on. I removed a few out of stock items and checked out at 2:40 am. My entire order shipped. However, I missed one item that would not update to the 50% off price, and another that had went out of stock the day before.

First thing in the morning I was distracted by a sale notification from Swirl. I have a rather large credit in my Swirl account. At the time I placed 2 orders I didn't know I could only get store credit. Since then I haven't seen anything on sale that has been of interest. It was them I saw the Handbag sale alert, and an Orla Kiely Bag peeking out from behind the other bags.

About Six months ago I discovered my Orange Easy Keeper no longer fit. I successfully traded my size 4 on EA for a size 6. I didn't find a trade for my Black size 4 Easy Keeper. Imagine my happiness when I put the Black skirt on and found that it fit.

Wool Tracy Reese skirts are there. Just not in abundance. I found two. Neither are producing the same attention as the previous years models. I can see why.

Talgarth Skirt - by Tracy Reese - Anthro $148

Despite three stellar reviews, the Talgarth Skirt isn't tempting me. Not that this isn't a great skirt for someone. My intuition tells me to step away from the lack of curve hugging structure. Nothing about this skirt reminds me of the Easy Keeper.

Glasbury Pencil Skirt - by Tracy Reese - Anthro $148

The Glasbury Skirt has potential. I can certainly see nuances of the Easy Keeper. According to the reviews, I'm not the only one with the urge to rip the pockets off this otherwise fabulous skirt. Then I noticed the $10 hike in prices for Tracy Reese skirts. A sour note after reading about poor quality fabrics and sizing issues.

I picked up the Pleated As You Please Jacket by Tabitha for $35 on EA last Spring. I couldn't have found a better Fall topper for the Easy Keeper. It's only a matter of time before I find other worthy matches for the jacket. At this moment in time, I appreciate previous years Anthro more than anything that is currently offered.

I typed Floreat in the online Search Box. I was blown clear out of the water by NO RETURNS.

Nefi destroys her only piece of Anthro

Nefi was very unhappy doing Time Out in her cage this afternoon. It really works. She was completely calm and obedient when I let her out an hour later. But her cage was a total ruin.

Can you spot Nefi's very own piece of Anthropologie? No worries, The Lamberts Cove Hat was 3.5 years old and made entirely of paper. She took all her upset out on that hat.

Nefi yesterday during a much happier moment. And yes that is me narrating.

No Anthro Zone Reviews! Fatigue Finery Cape and the Camellia Blouse

It's time to bust out a couple reviews. Both items are currently on sale and available in most sizes.

No Anthro Zone Review: Fatigue Finery Cape by Madchen, Anthro Orig $298 Sale $80, Nov 2011

Not my favorite look for the Fatigue Finery Cape

I first tried Anthro's Fatigue Finery Cape in the Santa Monica Store. I had mixed emotions. I'm a total sucker for anything with Military inspired details. But the price was a heart stopper.

After it made second cut I ordered it from online. It was time to take a second look.

Fatigue Finery Cape by Madchen was $298 now $80

SIZE: Since the cape is fitted only at the shoulders, the best way to determine the correct size is by the length of your shoulders. Mine are very narrow (16"), and even though I'm a 4/6 in Anthro, I took an XS.

FIT: When zipped, the hem at the bottom of the placket sticks out oddly. Ironing helped the overall appearance, but didn't do much for that issue.

FABRIC: Soft flexible knit that feels like Cotton instead of a synthetic blend. The knit is surrounded by heavy, structured wool. Dry Clean Only.

The second time around I'm not convinced this cape is for me.

My change of heart has nothing to do with the arm slits to the front that most reviewers found awkward.

In fact, I found the location of the slits to be handy for using a cell phone. Unfortunately, those same handy slits, make a great wind tunnel to funnel in a cold breeze.

This is a Test. This is only a Test.

I didn't have a problem reaching up to flip my hair. Right! Not something I commonly do. But I wanted to see how distorted the cape would look by such an action. How ugly is this cape?

I could easily open a door...rummage through my bag...and hail a taxi if there were such a thing in Bakersfield.

Honestly, I would never expect a cape to masquerade as the perfect day-to-day Winter coat.

Was Anthro trying to tell me something with this outfit? Which I happen to love. The shape and length of the cape is far more suitable with pants. Something I rarely wear.

Short skirts like the one I'm wearing, don't show enough hemline. I feel like a giant bell with legs for the clapper. Worse, full skirts or dresses would leave the wearer completely shapeless.

Elbow length gloves are suitably cute, but won't keep the draft out.

The snap front pockets are much too shallow to be of any use.

The collar unsnaps so it can be worn turned up.

The quality and construction are exceptional!

It isn't easy being Green! Especially for this cape!

I don't need another novelty item that can only be worn on a special occasion. I haven't exactly pin pointed what that special occasion would be.

This certainly isn't an everyday cape for cold weather either.

XS is sold out online. So I'm in no hurry to return this one yet.

No Anthro Zone Review: Camellia Blouse - by Gryphon - Anthro Orig $168 Sale $90 - Nov 2011

I planned to layer this Blouse under sweaters, but it works just as well on it's own. It's a nicely constructed Polyester blouse, with Cotton embroidery.

Wait just a second. Did I just preface Polyester with the word nicely? I can't stand Polyester.

I've come to accept that for some things, Polyester works. Case in point. Cotton would never drape for a shapeless design like this. Silk would shred considering how this blouse is pieced together in strips.

Personally, I celebrate the tag that reads...Machine Wash. WooHoo!

Camellia Blouse by Gryphon was $168 now $90

I rarely find a lacy, romantic, unstructured blouse that is flattering on busty me. The fact that this blouse is completely untailored, but works, is enough to make it a keeper for me.

I can easily slip this over my head with the top button open in back..

SIZE: I was concerned my normal Small might pull across the chest. I sized up to a Medium.

I'm 5'5" tall, 130 lbs, 35-28-36. 34D. Short arms. Narrow shoulders.

FIT: Comfortable. Medium was the right choice since the fabric is non-stretch. Hemline just clears my hips with no bunching. No pulling through the chest or shoulders. The sleeve ends just clear my elbows.

FABRIC: I layered a simple Ivory Tank. The blouse is light weight and very sheer. As I mentioned it's MACHINE WASH. You won't have to slave with an iron..

Recommended! If you have an hourglass shape or are top or bottom heavy, size up. If you have a straight figure, go with your normal size.

Bunny Boudoir - Beating Return Regrets

Nefi has been pronounced a healthy, 8 month old female. Which means I wasn't far off the mark in thinking she was someones Easter Bunny that they later discarded. How sad is that? I often wonder if they regret leaving her to fend for herself in that parking lot for several months.

My Bunny unfortunately hasn't been spayed. Female Rabbits need to be spayed to...

1. Prevent cancer.

2. Curtail territorial marking.

and

3. Improve the chance of successful litter box training.

Ha-ha! Nefi has already accomplished 2 and 3. I made an appointment next week to satisfy 1.

Since I commonly view expenditures in terms of Anthro Dollars, the price of Nefi's surgery is equal to...

Nefi is priceless.

Besides, this bag isn't an Orla Keily. I will repeat this in the hopes I can eventually convince myself that I don't want it.

I couldn't be more proud of my little Half Wild Bunny. Nefi hasn't had an accident in over a week. Several days ago I hesitantly removed the barriers that kept her out of the area behind her cage. The minute the barrier was gone, she ran back and forth behind the cage, and celebrated with happy go lucky Binkies.

Binkies are twists, leaps and hops, followed by super fast fits, often accompanied by wild head gyrations, that occasionally lead to bouncing off walls, furniture, and fellow inhabitants both feline and human alike.

No more blotting wet stains, while hoping around wearing one old shoe, being careful that the shoe used to blot never comes in contact with unaffected carpet. No more stepping over vinegar saturated wet spots, liberally coated with baking soda. No more waiting two days to vacuum up white mounds that seem to grow when your back is turned. No more scent of sour vinegar permeating the bedroom and bath.

Occasional accidents are to be expected and will be tolerated.

We are now a three litter box household. One box for two cats, and two boxes for one Bunny.

The Anjisai Dress was a collaboration between Calligraphy Artist Sariah Carson and Anthropologie. The color palette and simple floral design is appealing and unique. The negatives include Rayon fabric, a lack of pockets, and a strange fitting bodice.

The dress runs large, so I ordered a size 4. Normally I'm a six in most Anthro brands. Several reviewers reported the bodice ran large. Ha-ha! My hopes quickly dissolved the minute I pulled the dress from the package. I knew it was too skimpy to cover the girls. I ironed the dress without even trying it on. Which signifies I planned to work with it at some point.

Despite reviews that suggested layering a tank under the dress would distract from it's appearance, I woke up Tuesday morning ready to make a go of the Anjisai. I layered Anthro's Reversible Seamless Tank in Black with the V-neck to the front. As luck would have it, the 4 fit like a glove through the bodice. If it had been larger, the sides would have drooped, and the dress would have been a sure fire return. I had to zip and then shimmy in the hard way.

In my opinion, the addition of the tank gives the dress dimension at the neckline. At the same time the girls are fully covered.

For Fall, I added pops of Blue with a skinny belt (similar here) and earrings (similar here). I chose Green Tights that would blend with the dress (similar here). I then layered a Black Cardigan over top (J Crew Jackie here). I was surprised how easily the outfit came together.

I must confess, I wasn't smitten by these Chie Mihara's until they went on sale. When they arrived I immediately tried them on. They are incredibly comfortable. The toe box has a bit more room than most closed toe CM's. Perfect for the wider front of my foot. This heel base is by far my favorite. The shoes in side view are a show stopper. But from my vantage point, the top view didn't cut it for me. The toe was more rounded than I like. The shoe laces appear messy and hide the cute wrap over strap and buckle. I immediately placed them in the closet, then proceeded to ignore my mixed feelings for two weeks.

To Lace or Not to Lace

The same morning I wore the Anjisai, I decided to return the Walthamstows. But not before trying them on again one last time.

The only thing worse than buyers remorse is a case of return regret.

I stared at those wonderfully comfortable heels with the unappealing laces. I wasn't going to wear shoes based solely on comfort. From the top, all I saw were ugly black lace-ups.

Ha-ha! There was my solution. Right there under those messy black laces were the shoes I envisioned. Removing them in no way compromised the comfortable fit.

I walked to the far reaches of the park to take photo's. No regrets! Absolutely adore the Walthamstows aka Chie Mihara's Fenomenos.

If you find a pair, don't hesitate, whether you prefer to lace or not to lace.

In my last Post I mentioned that I wear my Bowed Lacerta Mary Jane's often. This will make twice in one week. When I saw the November Catalog and the Tegu Platforms I did a double take.

The Tegu Platforms by Schuler and Son's not Miss Albright

I find them very similar to the Bowed Lacerta's by Miss Albright. The color combination is intriguing.

But it turns out they are actually by Schuler and Son's, which tend to run narrow for me across the front. Too bad there is no vamp strap to keep these on my narrow heels. But I do have my stretchy shoe bands. However, I discovered yesterday that they are far more obvious when you wear them over tights.

Have I tortured you enough about Diana. Oh, I suppose I haven't yet told you her name. She is completely opposite of my son. He is tall, thin, and Blue eyed. She is short, Rubinesque, and dark eyed.

He told me yesterday that he "Loves her to death." Not sure how to read that.

As I expected she's bright, but also a little shy. I could tell his displays of affection were making her uncomfortable in front of me. Neither of us are used to that is seems. I certainly don't disapprove. They are young adults.

The most surprising bit of information is that she is a Pre-Med student.

OMG! Camden had better get his act together fast. He works at JBX and has no plans to attend college at this time, despite my offer to help. Diana is working as a floater at Sears while attending school. The same position I held while attending college to be a Dental Assistant years ago. Go Diana! I already love her.

I found this dress on Effortless Anthropologie's Buy/Sell/Trade. The seller wore it once. The original price was $188. I purchased this like-new dress for $65 with ship. Since the dress is a Medium and fits loose, I went with a structured belt instead of the matching sash. I layered a stretchy T-shirt and long shorts underneath as a barrier against the itchy wool.

There aren't too many girls that enjoy playing paintball in 110 degree heat from sun up until sun down. They aren't much for Dungeons and Dragons either. I have worn this pair of shoes at least once a week since I got them. So they have turned out to be both versatile and comfortable. They were worth the time and effort to find.

This Cuff isn't what I expected. For $58 I expected the Cuff in the online image. The one I received isn't as feminine. There is no contrasting Purple layer underneath. I was about to complain because I don't have the option to chose, when I returned to the product page and realized that this item is an online exclusive.

I can't get the Gray and Purple bow out of my mind. If I had the time, I would make it myself. But I doubt the bow would end up presentable. And it's doubtful I could find Jacquard that looks anything like the online version I'm obsessing over.

My friend Christine was disappointed at seeing the same photo of Nefi at the top of my blog for an entire week. That was just after my trip to New York. This time I've neglected my blog for over a week, and comment rounds for at least two. Please except my sincere apologies.

My plan was to... use apple bits to entice Nefi to bunny bomb my photos. Ha-ha! It didn't exactly go my way.

My new plan is...no plan at all. I'm prepared to wait for unplanned Nefi bombs.

I was not prepared for the Lemon Lift-Off Blouse. It's not often whimsical prints entice me. I couldn't resist the owls perched on floating moons against a sunny backdrop. But why Lemon Lift-Off? I didn't expect the unstructured, thin Silk to do me any favors. Reviews suggested the blouse ran large through the chest and small through the hips. I did a 20 minute finger dance over the order button. Luckily size 6 was out of stock. I was forced to go with an 8. I normally wear size 6 in Anthro's exclusive Girls From Savoy Brand.

If you are larger than a C cup, size up! The Silk is very sheer. I layered Anthro's Reversible Tank in Brown under the blouse. A less obvious Ivory Tank would be a better choice. Next time I plan to wear this with the Lengthening Rays Skirt in Brown (on sale). Size down 1 or even 2 sizes for the Lengthening Rays.

I found a very useful shoe accessory that will give new life to several pairs of Shoes in My Closet.

Issue: My foot is narrow through the instep and heel, and medium to slightly wide across the front. I wear a B or Medium width shoe to accommodate the wider front. My heel slips out of the back of most Medium widths with no tie or vamp strap. Heel inserts offer a more secure feel, but as I flex my foot while walking, my heel still tends to slip.

Solution: A set of clear stretchy bands that fit over each shoe and across the vamp comfortably. When I walk, the back of the shoe never slips off my heel. I used one set of bands during a 10-hour day. I compared the used set to the unworn set, and there is no difference in length. So the good news is, they don't stretch out after at least one wear. If they hold up for 10 wears (50 cents/wear for 2 sets), I'm happy. It's possible the bands could break if over stretched. I found them to be fairly resilient.

These will become an absolute necessity for me. I found with only two sets, I tend to forget to use them unless they are inside the shoes when I put them on. I don't really notice the need until I am walking at a brisk enough pace to cause my heel to slip. By that time I am already at work. I plan to order enough sets of bands to place them inside each pair of shoes that needs them.

Fall normally arrives late in Bakersfield CA. The expected high is just over 80 degrees F today. Climbing to the 90's on Friday. Just in time for the company sponsored trip to Santa Barbara for wine tasting. Then on to Shell Beach and Montana de Oro to study the oil rich, beach front outcrops, of the Monterey Formation. If I weren't goin on this trip, I would be jealous.

An Egyptian Queen - An OOTD - And a Brave New Anthro Blog

My Egyptian Queen Nefi (Hotot Rabbit) Poses

Nefertari was the Royal Wife of Ramses II. The King built a temple dedicated to his Queen and the goddess Hathor at Abu Simbel, next to his own. Nefertari's tomb, which is located in the Valley of the Queens, is one of the largest and most beautifully decorated grave sites ever discovered.

I see a resemblance in the eyes, and the ears and um...hat that resembles bunny ears?

Do you think Nefertari would roll over in her Tomb to learn that someone named a Rabbit after her? I was impressed with the lady's credentials. Her man obviously loved her. She didn't plot with the harem to murder him. She wasn't also his daughter. She was a Royal wife, so not a lesser wife or consort. She must have wordlessly put up with a lot crap to earn such high regard.

Test for aggressive behavior before attempting to grab an abandoned Rabbit

On the way back to the office after taking OOTD photos, I noticed a streak of White dash under a car. This was my first glimpse of a rabbit that was abandoned near the office weeks ago. Several employees had attempted to trap this friendly Hotot Rabbit. Armed with a piece of banana I begged from a passerby, a few carrots, and a little help, I got bunny into a box. We immediately bonded.

I learned bunny was already promised to an employee in the Legal Dept. Said employee was away until Monday. I offered to foster bunny until then. Ha-ha! Finders Keepers!

Heishe and Nefi had an eyeball to eyeball stare out for several minutes today. I would never tag my sweet natured 7-year old male cat as having a predators bone in his body. I was wrong. Heishe received an immediate predator warning thump from Nefi. This is wild rabbit behavior, that is learned by rabbits that inhabit a warren. Since then, Heishe is scarred sh*tless of Nefi, and has abandoned my bedroom entirely. But Nefi is on a mission to make friends. MewTwo and Nefi are working on mutual respect, after MewTwo received the warning thump more than once. She was amazingly patient when her tail was given the Nefi once over. I was on the receiving end of a few thumps myself.

A donated cage and a trip to the Pet Store and Nefi is given the Royal treatment a Queen deserves

When and where did this tame, non-aggressive, house broken, lovable little Hotot learn the warning thump? How did she survive in 100 degree plus weather? A warren of wild rabbits won't take in a stray from another warren, but will accept a lone homeless rabbit. Hmmm! Our office is definitely located next to possibilities.

Nefi is in good shape, although thin. Dawn dish washing liquid and warm water helped with removing grease from her back. She finished the job. She and I are still working on her tiny tar covered feet. Otherwise she is clean, has no injuries, no bad behavior, and no hair loss either. Her ears are immaculate. I suspect another animal has been grooming her. I couldn't find a single flea.

She has the most amazing character, and adores Tomatoes.

The Hotot Breed is Globally Endangered. Once raised for pets, show and meat. You should be able to hear my complete disgust!

A trip to the vet is in the near future. I'm worried about exposure to pesticides and possible disease from wild rabbits.

Nefi grooming after a first attempt to clean her Asphalt coated feet

Only one potty accident in the house in over 24-hours. It was entirely my fault. Luckily it was on vinyl floor. She has dramatically increased her appetite. She runs her territory before bed several times. All rooms, and occupants (feline and human alike) are carefully inspected by her intelligent, lined eye.

After lunch with Roxy and other EA shoppers, Kelly of Fashion Fuel and I headed out to meet up with two more of my favorite NYC Bloggers.

A quick visit to Saks on 5th Ave. to fulfil a promise I made. I admit these photos are particularly comical with those horrid security locks dangling over my nose. He-he! Which pair do you like?

On to the American Museum of Natural History. Our first stop was the Hayden Planetarium to see "Journey to The Stars" narrated by Whoopi Goldburg. This was to fulfil a promise to my Mother. As a child living in Brooklyn, she rode the Subway every weekend to visit the museum long before the Planetarium was built. No photos were allowed inside. It was an experience I fully enjoyed.

I couldn't believe my luck when I walked past and did a double take on this display as we left the museum. Meet Lucy, a 3.2 million year-old, 40% complete fossil skeleton of an Australopithecus discovered in 1974. I was 14 years old. I remember the day they announced the discovery. They named her Lucy because The Beatles Song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" had been playing repeatedly from a tape recorder. They had no idea of the importance of their discovery that day. The oldest remains of upright man (or woman) to date.

My first pair of Steel Toed Boots were actually Men's sized boots. My current pair are Ladies Boots, but look like Men's. Those are now three years old, so I am due for a pair of new work boots according to company policy. Although these are a little Cowgirl looking for my taste, I still love them. A friend assured me they are very comfortable.

The Great Divide

So this is what it comes too. We divide. Your either for or against. In or out. Accepted or outcast.
At least I have a choice. So I thought!

When I arrived home today from work, I discovered I had lost a Follower. OK! It's not the first time this has happened, nor will it be the last. I have so few. It's enough that I have no idea who.

I'm way under G O M I Radar. I'm a bump. A hopeless blip. Not worthy of their time. Thank You God!

Does it matter? Not really. I've never been about the numbers. I know what I am capable of handling. Anything over 200 Followers, and I will run screaming with blood shooting from my eyes. Going down a few is a blessing. With age comes a knowledge of my limitations. Something at least one of us has no grasp of what so ever. That should read one of them.

I'm balanced on the wire looking up at Hope and Change.
I'd rather make a Change, than sit around Hoping.

Honestly! Do you know a Fashion Bogger ( I use that term loosely, because lord knows I'm really not) Geologist that used Reader Submitted Rocks to Style Outfits? Inspiration That Rocks! The one cool, unique thing I have done in one year as a Blogger. It's not enough.

The only excuse she could have given that would have brought me to my knees is Simon. That's right, her little dog that needed extensive back surgery and physical therapy. I can't imagine how much that would have cost. I believe she was unemployed at the time. I grew up with Dachshunds. I love them all. They are my weakness. I love my parents Dachshunds. I was there for Kim (ha I said her name) during that period, because I truly understood. It's heart breaking. I cried over that sweat little dog. I prayed for him. One thing she didn't lie about is her feelings for Simon.

But she didn't go there! I was spared the embarrassment of falling for the dog.

Ask me anything about what I saw and read over a 5-day period. My awesome friend even stepped in and tried to defend the use of OUR photo on G O M I. If anyone can stand up to being picked on, she can. Even she was no match for bullies. One comment was enough for her. It's still there right under the photo of the Stepford Wives in the Bowed Lacerta Mary Janes. Followed by an attack of piranhas not worthy of your attention. BTW, GOMI posters. That tattoo on Snow Kitties foot says 26.2. As in miles.

G O M I didn't root out Anthroholic. Her clients did!

I just don't have the patience to fight stupidity. I'm not on this planet to make trouble just so I can hear others make a lot of noise. Nor do I plan to make noise over nothing but trouble. I either enjoy myself, or I'm gone. And no one tells me how to dress, how to stand, and what to write. I am my own machine. If someone doesn't like my choices, they can step out of my tiny breath of air space.

Next post, let's talk about Anthro. Because that's what brings a smile to my face and yours. That's something that Bonnie (Small Town Fashionista) and I have in common. Wow does she impress in a Bathing Suit.

Last Saturday I ventured to Anthropologie with friends

Everything that occurred after our arrival at the Santa Monica Anthro plays out like a dream

Hardly! There is plenty of real damage carefully pressed, polished and put in its own special place in my closet.

It's an hour before opening. Heidi, Karen and I eagerly peer through the glass next to a towering distressed wood door in the quiet 3^rd Street Promenade. A small arm is seen waving from amidst the colorful dimly lit store. We watch as the waving arm weaves its way towards us from the depths of beautiful displays. This must be our store manager Lauren. She opens the door with bubbly laughter, waving us inside.

We walk into the far reaches. I'm filled with anticipation. There is so much here to smell, touch, see, and test. I'm a self appointed Anthropologie Inspector. I’m dedicated to trying as much as possible in a few hours.

Introductions are made. We climb twisted stairs. At the top is a smiling woman. I know her by process of elimination, and hazy dressing room photos from the day before. She recognizes me instantly. I was here today because she kindly asked me to be. Liza is my Tippi Tipster. The name I gave her when she began helping me match up Readers and community members with a special Anna Sui creation for Anthropologie. The Tippi Dress.

It's then I see a familiar face step onto the landing. I know her voice. I recognize her vintage Anthro dress. Her perfectly coiffed 70's flip. This is Joni, for which the Caranday Cause was formed. This Petite, delicate wisp of a woman is a professional ice skater, with a heart of Gold, a love for all things Disney, and the Lord of the Rings. I would know her in a crowd. From within her eyes shines a strong determined Pollyanna. And in her hand a Fruit Tart. I hug another long lost Sister.

The girls are setting up the dressing rooms with all our Wish Listed requests. What shall we do? We begin by exclaiming and pointing out near, dear and familiar items, as we slowly make out way to the largest sale room imaginable.

Oh yes! Then there is our photographer. What I wouldn’t give to know Aarons thoughts as he attempts to sort us out and photograph our every interest. It would seem an impossible task for Liza's husband. I compare it to throwing me into the middle of a football field and expecting me to know which way the action was going.

A collection of clothing and shoes seems to change position from one place to another as if by magic. That magic is assisted by Ashley and Domino. It wasn’t until later that I see photos of our Joni picking up shoe boxes and peering into dressing rooms to ask if her assistance is needed. Bless you Joni.

The ever thoughtful Lauren, my new found Sister, made reservations at the nearby Sonoma Wine Garden. If you ever have the chance to venture there, our Server, and now Joni and I, recommend the Austrian Pancakes. A concoction of squares of what seemed like French toast, smothered with grilled plums and raisins drizzled with caramel. On the side is fresh Whipped cream with Vanilla Bean. A not too sweet confection that is more like dessert. Don’t forget the Pomegranate Wine.

After a leisurely lunch on the roof top, we made our way back to Anthropologie to pick up our packages. We pose for a parting Window photo. We express our unwillingness to say good bye. This dress topped my Wish List to try at the 3rd St Promenade Anthro. I lucked out. The store had only 2 dresses. Both in my size.

Dress #1 in Size 6 would not zip.

SIZE: TTS. Size 6. I'm 5'5" Tall, 130 lbs, 34C, 35-28-36, Narrow Shoulders. Short arms. I normally wear a 6 or Small in Dresses.

FIT: Dress #1 did not zip all the way. Dress #2 did. Neither dress had tight sleeves. Probably because I have narrow shoulders. My bra strap didn't show at the back. If it had, I would have layered Anthro's Seamless Reversible Tank in Ivory with the V neck to the back. Length is just above the knee. I struggled with adjusting the slip straps to keep the bodice from pulling. Nothing helped. I knew what would.

There are at least 10 size 6 dresses online. I had no idea how many dresses I would have to order before I found a good fit. I wasn't leaving this one behind.

ISSUES: Why attach the slip to the bodice? According to the reviews, potential buyers left the dress behind because of this flaw. One reviewer paid a seamstress to fix the issue. When I arrived home I simply snipped the threads that held the slip straps to the shoulders, and under the arms. That completely freed everything up. No more pulling at the shoulders. I don't recommend doing this unless you know how to re-attach. I can't guarantee this simple fix is the right solution for everyone.

FABRIC: The shell is sheer, non-stretch, 100% Silk. Not as delicate as you may think. I found no pulls on either dress. Embroidered candle flames on the bodice and hemline are an iridescent Neutral shade. Dots at the sleeve ends are soft and appliqued to the Silk. Lining is Nude acetate. Crinoline is attached 1/2 way up the front of the lining. Rows of embroidery around the hem add weight to hold the lining down to prevent pouf.

This dress needed ironing to give it a smooth appearance. I also ironed the slip underneath. Once ironed, it needs only minimal touch up.

Note: I would happily pay $100 less for acetate, than pay for Silk Lining no one sees. Acetate also glides easily over tights so your skirt won't ride up.

Fully Recommended. One Star off for slip design. It's likely the sleeve issue is attributed to wide shoulders. My arms are by no means small, but my shoulders are narrow.

Try all dresses in your size. Also size up and down. Order two dresses from online where stock is abundant. The sizing may be intentionally inconsistent to accommodate different body shapes for non-stretch fabric. Style with Gray, Gold and Neutrals.

FIT: Like a Dream! Flattering for a larger chest! Well placed pleats just below the waistline, allow this dress to drape nicely over the any size hips. Hides a small tummy pooch. A belt will define the waist further. Medium weight wool adds structure to the bodice. Raised seaming runs down the front and back, which nips and tucks in the right places. Stretch Lace at the shoulders, sleeves and upper back offers a custom fit. Plum or Black Bra will not be visible. Length is to the knee. Hemline is unfinished.

NOTE: Remove threads used to tack down pleats at the hemline.

FABRIC: Substantial wool that will not fray if left unfinished. Layer a slip if sensitive to wool, and to prevent skirt from riding up while wearing tights. Dry Clean.

Interspersed Ponte Dress - Stretch Lace across the Back and Sleeves allows for a perfect fit.

Pullover styling. Pockets would add bulk with this style. Color is Deep Plum. Style this with Boots or Pumps for Fall/Winter. Style with Red, Green, Yellow, Gold, Orange, Gray, Ivory and Black.
